Perovskite light-emitting diodes toward commercial full-colour displays: progress and key technical obstacles

    Get PDF
Metal-halide perovskite light-emitting diodes (PeLEDs) possess wide colour gamut, high luminescence efficiency, and low-cost synthesis, making them a promising photonic source for next-generation display applications. Since the first room-temperature emission PeLED was demonstrated in 2014, their performance has improved rapidly within a few years, leading to considerable attention from academia and industry. In this review, we discuss the primary technical bottlenecks of PeLEDs for commercial display applications, including large-area PeLED preparation, patterning strategies, and flexible PeLED devices. We review the technical approaches for achieving these targets and highlight the current challenges while providing an outlook for these perovskite materials and PeLED devices to meet the requirements of the next-generation high-colour-purity full-colour display market

PAN Nanofibers Reinforced with MMT/GO Hybrid Nanofillers

Single component nanofiller has shown some limitations in its performance, which can be overcome by hybrid nanofillers with two different components. In this work, montmorillonite (MMT)/graphene oxide (GO) hybrid nanofillers were formed by self-assembly and then incorporated into the polyacrylonitrile (PAN) nanofibers by electrospinning process. X-ray diffraction (XRD), atomic force microscopy (AFM), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) were utilized to analyze the structures of MMT/GO hybrid nanofillers. And the effects of MMT/GO hybrid nanofillers on the morphology, thermal stability, and mechanical properties of PAN/MMT/GO composite nanofibrous membrane were examined by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), and tensile test machine, respectively. The incorporation of MMT/GO hybrid nanofillers into PAN nanofibers showed a noticeable increase up to 30°C for the onset decomposition temperature and 1.32 times larger tensile strength than the pure PAN, indicating that the hybrid nanofiller is a promising candidate in improving thermal and mechanical properties of polymers

Purified Immunoglobulin F(ab′) 2 Protects Mice and Rhesus Monkeys against Lethal Ricin Intoxication

Ricin is a highly toxic ribosome-inactivating lectin derived from castor beans. To date, no antidote is available to treat ricin-poisoned patients, and the development of a safe and effective antidote is urgently needed. First, ricin was prepared and used to construct a mouse model and a rhesus monkey model of ricin intoxication. Second, pepsin-digested F(ab′) 2 fragments of serum IgG from horses injected with Freund’s-adjuvanted purified ricin were prepared. Third, the protective efficacy was evaluated in mouse and rhesus monkey models of lethal ricin intoxication. The purity quotient of the prepared ricin and F(ab′) 2 fragments exceeded 90% and 85% in the mouse and monkey models, respectively. The LD 50 of ricin in mice and rhesus monkeys was 2.7 and 9 μg/kg, respectively. A quantity of 6.25 and 1.85 mg/kg F(ab′) 2 was sufficient to treat lethal ricin intoxication in the mice and rhesus monkeys, respectively. Finally, the effect of this therapeutic antibody on peripheral blood immune cells was examined by analysis of peripheral blood immune cells through single cell sequencing. The underlying mechanism was found to involve restraining neutrophil activation, proliferation, and differentiation. Purified F(ab′) 2 fragments administered with needle-free devices fully protect mice and rhesus monkeys against lethal doses of ricin intoxication

Selective laser melting of reduced graphene oxide/S136 metal matrix composites with tailored microstructures and mechanical properties

In this work, a novel approach combining liquid deposition with selective laser melting (SLM) is used for fabricating reduced graphene oxide (RGO)/S136 metal matrix composites (MMCs). The grain sizes, crystallographic textures, phase compositions and mechanical properties can be tailored by controlling the RGO content in the RGO/S136 MMCs. The results show that the average grain size reaches its smallest size of 0.75 μm when 0.1 wt% RGO was added to the RGO/S136 MMCs. As the RGO content is increased from 0 wt% to 0.5 wt%, a continuous transition of the grains from the (001) orientation to the (101) and (111) orientations is observed. In addition, the cellular dendritic grains transform into equiaxed fine grains with increasing RGO content. The SLM-prepared RGO/S136 MMCs are dominated by high-angle grain boundaries (˃15°) and the martensite (bcc) phase. The hardness, ultimate tensile strength and yield strength of the SLM RGO/S136 MMCs exhibit trends that initially increase and then decrease, with maximum values of 580.6 HV, 535.3 MPa and 515.8 MPa, respectively. This paper highlights the possibility of controlling the RGO content to achieve the desired microstructural characteristics and mechanical properties of RGO/S136 MMCs fabricated by the SLM process.Published versio
