A Föld plazmakörnyezetének háromdimenziós vizsgálata = Three-dimensional study of the plasma environment of the Earth
A magnetoszfĂ©ra kĂĽlönbözĹ‘ tartományainak mĂ©rete Ă©s tipikus tulajdonságai gyakran változnak a NapbĂłl eredĹ‘ ion/elektronáram gyors Ă©s lassĂş változásainak következtĂ©ben. A napszĂ©l plazmát a magnetoszfĂ©rikus plazmátĂłl a magnetopauza határfelĂĽlet választja el, elĹ‘tte kialakul a fejhullám, ahol a napszĂ©l paramĂ©terek hirtelen megváltoznak. Az azonos műszerekkel felszerelt nĂ©gy Cluster szonda kĂĽlönleges lehetĹ‘sĂ©get nyĂşjt a Föld plazmakörnyezetĂ©nek háromdimenziĂłs vizsgálatára. Cluster mĂ©rĂ©sek alapján vizsgáltuk a mirror tĂpusĂş mágneses tĂ©r fluktuáciĂłk fejlĹ‘dĂ©sĂ©t a kvázi-merĹ‘leges fejhullám Ă©s a magnetopauza közötti tartományban. A fluktuáciĂłk amplitudĂłja közel egy nagyságrenddel kisebb mĂ©rtĂ©kben növekedett a lineáris modellekbĹ‘l számĂtott Ă©rtĂ©khez kĂ©pest. 50 forrĂł plazmával töltött mágneses ĂĽreg (Hot Flow Anomaly) jellemzĹ‘ tulajdonságait tanulmányoztuk a fejhullám elĹ‘tti tartományban. MegállapĂtottuk, hogy a gyors napszĂ©l kedvezĹ‘en befolyásolja ezen esemĂ©nyek kialakulását, mivel a napszĂ©l sebessĂ©ge majdnem minden esetben nagyobb volt az átlagos Ă©rtĂ©knĂ©l. A bolygĂłközi tĂ©rben a plazma keveredĂ©sĂ©nek kislĂ©ptĂ©kű mágneses struktĂşrákra gyakorolt hatását vizsgáltuk. A Cluster mĂ©rĂ©sek igazolták az elmĂ©leti Ă©s numerikus modellszámĂtások alapján várhatĂł lepelszerű kĂ©tdimenziĂłs struktĂşrák jelenlĂ©tĂ©t. | The size and characteristic properties of the different regions of the magnetosphere often change as a result of fast and slow changes in the ion/electron flow originating from the Sun. The solar wind plasma is separated from the magnetospheric plasma by the magnetopause boundary surface, in front of which the bow shock forms where solar wind parameters suddenly change. The identically equipped four Cluster satellites provide a unique opportunity for a three-dimensional study of the terrestrial plasma environment. Based on Cluster measurements, the evolution of mirror type magnetic field fluctuations was investigated in the region between the quasi-perpendicular bow shock and the magnetopause. The determined growth rate of the amplitudes was about an order of magnitude smaller than the values predicted by linear model calculations. The characteristic features of 50 hot flow anomalies (magnetic cavities filled by hot plasma) were studied upstream of the bow shock. Fast solar wind was found to favour the evolution of the events since most of them occurrred when the solar wind velocity was above its average value. In the interplanetary field, the effect of plasma mixing was investigated on small-scale magnetic field structures. Cluster measurements supported the existence of sheet-like two-dimensional structures predicted by theoretical models and numerical simulations
A kĂĽlsĹ‘ naprendszer vizsgálata űrszondák segĂtsĂ©gĂ©vel = Investigation of the outer solar system with space probes
A helioszfĂ©ra távoli vidĂ©keit vizsgáltuk a Cassini, az Ulysses, Ă©s a Voyager 1-2 űrszondákon repĂĽlĹ‘ magnetomĂ©terek, plazma-detektorok, Ă©s energikus rĂ©szecskĂ©k fluxusát mĂ©rĹ‘ berendezĂ©sek adatainak kiĂ©rtĂ©kelĂ©sĂ©vel. A mĂ©rĂ©si adatokhoz mint társkutatĂłk Ă©s vendĂ©gkutatĂłk jutottunk hozzá. A nemzetközi egyĂĽttműködĂ©sben vĂ©gzett kutatások föbb eredmĂ©nyei, köztĂĽk Ăşj jelensĂ©gek felfedezĂ©se Ă©s leĂrása, modellezĂ©ssel vĂ©gzett számĂtások vĂ©gzĂ©se, statisztikus vizsgálatok közĂĽl a következĹ‘ket tekintjĂĽk jelentĹ‘snek: - LassĂş mĂłdusĂş lökĂ©shullám felfedezĂ©se a Jupiter mágneses köpenyĂ©ben - „Hot Flow” anomália felfedezĂ©se a Szaturnusz fejhulláma elĹ‘tt - Ăšj tĂpusĂş hullám-gerjesztĂ©s modellezĂ©se a Titán Ă©s VĂ©nusz ionoszfĂ©rájában - Titán plazmakörnyezetĂ©nek összehasonlĂtĂł vizsgálata a megközelĂtĂ©sek során - Szaturnusz eredetű, „fosszilis” mágneses tĂ©r felfedezĂ©se a Titán közelĂ©ben - EnceladusbĂłl származĂł por dinamikájának Ă©s az E gyűrű keletkezĂ©sĂ©nek modellezĂ©se - Jupiter halvány gyűrűjĂ©nek modellezĂ©se - MHD szakadási felĂĽletek gyakoriságának Ă©s geometriájának statisztikus vizsgálata a helioszfĂ©rában - A helioszfĂ©ra kĂ©tfĂ©le mágneses polaritását elválasztĂł áramlepel Ă©szak-dĂ©li aszimmetriája - Energikus rĂ©szecskĂ©k terjedĂ©sĂ©nek vizsgálata nagyszámĂş esemĂ©ny alapján. | The distant regions of the heliosphere was investigated by the analysis of the data of magnetometers, plasma detectors, and energetic particle flux detectors, flown onboard the space probes Cassini, Ulysses, and Voyager 1-2. We acquired the scientific data as co-investigators and guest-investigators of the measurements. Among the main results of the research carried out in international collaborations, including discoveries and descriptions of new phenonmena, model calculations, statistical studies, we consider the most important ones as the following: - Discovery of slow mode shock in the Jovian magnetosheath - Discovery of hot flow anomaly upstream of the bow shock of Saturn - Modelling new type of wave excitation in the ionosphere of Titan and Venus - Comparative studies of the plasma environment of Titan during the encounters - Discovery of fossil magnetic field near Titan, originating from Saturn - Study of the dynamics of dust, originating from Enceladus and modelling the origin of E-ring - Modelling the faint ring of Jupiter - Statistical investigation of the rate and geometrical properties of MHD discontinuities in the heliosphere - North-south asymmetry of the current sheet separating the opposite magnetic polarities of the heliosphere - Investigation of the propagation of energetic particles, based on large number of events
