Superresolution Reconstruction of Single Image for Latent features

In recent years, Deep Learning has shown good results in the Single Image Superresolution Reconstruction (SISR) task, thus becoming the most widely used methods in this field. The SISR task is a typical task to solve an uncertainty problem. Therefore, it is often challenging to meet the requirements of High-quality sampling, fast Sampling, and diversity of details and texture after Sampling simultaneously in a SISR task.It leads to model collapse, lack of details and texture features after Sampling, and too long Sampling time in High Resolution (HR) image reconstruction methods. This paper proposes a Diffusion Probability model for Latent features (LDDPM) to solve these problems. Firstly, a Conditional Encoder is designed to effectively encode Low-Resolution (LR) images, thereby reducing the solution space of reconstructed images to improve the performance of reconstructed images. Then, the Normalized Flow and Multi-modal adversarial training are used to model the denoising distribution with complex Multi-modal distribution so that the Generative Modeling ability of the model can be improved with a small number of Sampling steps. Experimental results on mainstream datasets demonstrate that our proposed model reconstructs more realistic HR images and obtains better PSNR and SSIM performance compared to existing SISR tasks, thus providing a new idea for SISR tasks

Experimental Research on Foamed Mixture Lightweight Soil Mixed with Fly-Ash and Quicklime as Backfill Material behind Abutments of Expressway Bridge

To promote the utilization of fly-ash, based on the orthogonal experiment method, wet density and unconfined compressive strength of Foamed Mixture Lightweight Soil mixed with fly-ash and quicklime (FMLSF) are studied. It is shown that the wet density and unconfined compressive strength of FMLSF increase with the increase of cement content, while decreasing with the increase of foam content. With the mixing content of fly-ash increase, the wet density and unconfined compressive strength of FMLSF increase firstly and then decrease. Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) tests show that ball effect or microaggregate effect of fly-ash improves the wet density and unconfined compressive strength of FMLSF. With the mixing content of quicklime increase, the wet density and unconfined compressive strength of FMLSF increase firstly within a narrow range and then decrease. In addition, the primary and secondary influence order on wet density and 28-day compressive strength of FMLSF are obtained, as well as the optimal mixture combination. Finally, based on two abutments in China, behind which they are filled with FMLSF and Foamed Mixture Lightweight Soil (FMLS), the construction techniques and key points of quality control behind abutment are compared and discussed in detail, and the feasibility of utilization fly-ash as FMLSF is verified by the experimental results

Prognostic Value of Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor Expression in Patients with Lung Cancer: A Systematic Review with Meta-Analysis

BackgroundVascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) has been implicated in tumorigenesis and metastasis, and it presumably mediates the proliferation of endothelial cells and promotes vascular permeability. However, the prognostic value of VEGF overexpression in patients with lung cancer remains controversial.MethodsSurvival data from published studies were aggregated following a methodological assessment. A systematic review of eligible studies with meta-analysis was performed to quantitatively review the correlation of VEGF overexpression with survival in patients with lung cancer.ResultsWe conducted a final analysis of 5386 patients from 51 studies. The studies were categorized by histology, disease stage, patient race, VEGF isoform, and laboratory techniques used. Combined hazard ratios suggested that VEGF overexpression had an unfavorable impact on survival of patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and small cell lung cancer (SCLC). However, VEGFC and vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 3 (VEGFR3)/flt-1 overexpression did not significantly correlate with survival in patients with NSCLC. In stage I–III NSCLC with VEGF, the hazard ratio (95% confidence interval) was 1.46 (1.38–1.54) overall, 1.35 (1.24–1.46) in Asian patients, 1.61 (1.49–1.73) in non-Asian patients, 1.41 (1.17–1.65) in SCLC, 1.27 (1.06–1.47) in adenocarcinoma, 1.57 (1.43–1.70) in stage I NSCLC, 1.46 (1.38–1.55) in NSCLC by immunohistochemistry, 1.52 (1.23–1.81) in NSCLC by reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction, 1.22 (0.96–1.47) in NSCLC with VEGFC, and 1.58 (0.96–2.20) in NSCLC with VEGFR3/flt-1. The data collected were not sufficient to determine the prognostic value of VEGF in patients with squamous cell lung carcinomas.ConclusionVEGF overexpression indicates a poor prognosis for patients with NSCLC and SCLC; VEGFC and VEGFR3/flt-1 overexpression was not significantly correlated with survival for patients with NSCLC

Immunologic Characterization of HIV-Specific DNA Vaccine

We developed a method for applying HIV-1 DNA vaccine topically in mice. Topical application of DNA vaccine to the skin is useful against infections. To find a less expensive and less cumbersome vaccination method, we administered HIV-1 DNA vaccine to the skin of mice after elimination of keratinocytes using a fast-acting adhesive. HIV-1 DNA vaccine induced high levels of both humoral and cell-mediated immune activity against HIV-1 envelope antigen. A high level of HIV-1-specific cytotoxic T lymphocyte response was also observed, and a high level of IFN-γ and IL-4 production was induced by the improved skin application of DNA vaccine. High levels of both HIV-specific cytotoxic T lymphocyte and delayed type hypersensitivity in topical application were induced by coadministration of the DNA vaccine with IL-12 expression plasmids and granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor expression plasmids. These immune responses were inhibited by intradermal injection of anti-CD11c or anti-I-A/I-E antibody. Therefore, topical administration of DNA vaccine is an effective route, and may be very useful for the prevention of infectious diseases

Positive youth development attributes, mental disorder, and problematic online behaviors in adolescents: a longitudinal study amidst the COVID-19 pandemic

IntroductionDuring the COVID-19 pandemic, adolescents have increasingly suffered from online problem behaviors and mental disorders. But little research has paid attention to the protective factors among adolescents. Therefore, the present study attempted to investigate the role of positive youth development (PYD) attributes in adolescents’ depression, internet gaming disorder (IGD) and cyberbullying/victimization (CBV).MethodsA total of 995 Chinese adolescents (Mage = 15.97 years, SD = 0.77, 325 boys) from two public high schools in Hubei province were recruited to participate in the three-wave longitudinal study over the span of 1 year during the pandemic (Time 1: November, 2020; Time 2: May, 2021; Time 3: November, 2021).ResultsT1 PYD attributes negatively predicted T2 depression and T3 online problematic behaviors. T2 depression positively predicted IGD at T3. T3 IGD significantly predicted greater involvement in T3 CBV, and vice versa. Moreover, depression and one online problem behavior mediated the relationships between PYD attributes and the other online problem behavior, separately and sequentially.DiscussionThese findings demonstrated the protective role of PYD attributes in prevention of mental disorders and online problem behaviors among adolescents during the COVID-19 pandemic. Comprehensive measures should be taken to assist young people to develop more PYD attributes to promote healthy growth
