C/C++ implementation of functions of the class LT0

This report describes an on-going implementation, in C/C++, of the functions and schemes of the formal system LT0, presented in the paper Caporaso, Pani and Covino [1]. Perfect Quantum Routing in Regular Spin Networks

Regular families of coupled quantum networks are described such the unknown state of a qubit can be perfectly routed from any node to any other node in a time linear in the distance. Unlike previous constructions, the transfer can be achieved perfectly on a network that is local on any specified number of spatial dimensions. The ability to route the state, and the regularity of the networks, vastly improve the utility of this scheme in comparison to perfect state transfer schemes. Simulated X-ray Cluster Temperature Maps

Temperature maps are presented of the 9 largest clusters in the mock catalogues of Muanwong et al. for both the Preheating and Radiative models. The maps show that clusters are not smooth, featureless systems, but contain a variety of substructure which should be observable. The surface brightness contours are generally elliptical and features that are seen include cold clumps, hot spiral features, and cold fronts. Profiles of emission-weighted temperature, surface brightness and emission-weighted pressure across the surface brightness discontinuities seen in one of the bimodal clusters are consistent with the cold front in Abell 2142 observed by Markevitch et al.Comment: Submitted to Monthly Notices Royal Astronomical Societ

Director Conflict of Interest under the Model Business Corporation Act: A Model for All States?

The American Bar Association has adopted a new model director conflict of interest statute based on bright-line definitions and a rigid preclusion of judicial review. This Comment examines the statute and provides revisions that are necessary for the statute to operate as the drafters intended. The Comment also challenges the merits of the statute by arguing that its reliance on disinterested director approval procedures is an inadequate safeguard for shareholders and its emphasis on large corporations renders the statute unsuitable for the majority of corporations

Understanding Individual Experiences of Chronic Illness with Semantic Space Models of Electronic Discussions

Electronic discussion groups provide a convenient forum for individuals to share their experiences of chronic illness. The language use of individual participants, and the way their language shifts over time, may provide implicit indications of important shifts in sense-of-self. This paper relates experience with application of the hyperspace analogue to language (HAL) model for automatic construction of a dimensional model from a corpus of text. HAL is applied to 17 months of discussion on a closed list of 20 women coping with chronic illness. The discussion group was moderated for a focus the phenomenon of "Transition' - how people can learn to incorporate the consequences of illness into their lives. The current phase of research focuses on identification of clusters of words that can represent key aspects of Transition. The HAL models for two participants have been analyzed by experts in Transition to form candidate clusters. These clusters are then used as a basis for contrasting the language usage of an individual participant over time as compared to the entire corpus. We have not yet found a reliable basis for identifying transitions in an individual based on their entries into a discussion forum, although the clusters may have some inherent value for introspection on individual experiences and Transition in general.
