This paper aims to elucidate the relationship of distributive and procedural justice on affective commitment through conflict management styles and examine the mediating effect of conflict management styles between distributive and procedural justice and affective commitment. Self-administered questionnaires were delivered to 330 respondents throughout Northern Malaysia. Next, the data were analyzed using statistical analysis of SPSS and Partial Least Squares of Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM). Results showed that distributive and procedural justice was positively related to integrating, obliging and compromising styles while negatively related to dominating style but not related to avoiding style. It also revealed that integrating, obliging and compromising styles were positively significant with affective commitment while dominating style was negatively significant with affective commitment but avoiding style does not relate with affective commitment. In conclusion, the results also showed conflict management styles fully mediate the relationship between distributive and procedural justice and affective commitment
Organizational Justice, Conflict Management Styles, And Organizational Commitment Among Bank Employees In Northern Malaysia
Since year 2010, commercial banks in Malaysia have had the most number of staff turnovers among the non-managerial bank employees such as the clerks, officers, and senior officers. This has become a major problem for the Malaysian banking industry primarily driven by the lack of the employees’ commitment in the organization. These employees must establish good perception towards their organization and determine the most appropriate conflict handling styles as it is important in developing organizational commitment among the employees in the organization. This study proposes and tests a research framework that integrates all dimensions of organizational justice, conflict management styles, and organizational commitment. Partial Least Squares – Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) was employed to test the model. The data was collected from 303 respondents using a structured survey
Alkaline-assisted Microwave Pretreatment of Tetraselmis suecica Biomass for Fed-batch Enzymatic Hydrolysis
A two-part study on pretreatment and fed-batch enzymatic hydrolysis of pretreated Tetraselmis suecica using a high initial biomass concentration was conducted. First, the effect of different pretreatment processes, i.e. microwave (MC), dilute alkaline (AK), and microwave-alkaline assisted (MAK) pretreatment, on enzymatic hydrolysis of T. suecica biomass was evaluated. Furthermore, high initial biomass concentration enzymatic hydrolysis improvement via a fed-batch strategy was performed. Among the pretreatments tested, the MAK pretreatment produced the highest sugar concentration at 9.83 ± 0.24 mg/mL, corresponding to a conversion yield of up to 85.58% of carbohydrate content available in the pretreated biomass. The solid fraction generated after pretreatment was characterized using Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy. The FTIR analysis revealed a significant change in the functional hydroxyl and acetyl groups of the biomass, which is favorable for enzymatic hydrolysis. Introducing an initial microalgal biomass concentration beyond 15% (w/v) exhibited a low enzymatic hydrolysis yield. The fed-batch enzymatic hydrolysis strategy of the MAK pretreated T. suecica was further investigated by adding the substrate at different time intervals. The findings indicate that the fed-batch operation system could enhance sugar production and enzymatic hydrolysis yield one-fold
The effects of workforce diversity towards organizational creativity and the moderating role of knowledge sharing
In today’s globalize business environment, organizations face huge challenge in order to
successfully survive in competitive market. As a significance, the organizations should
continuously improve their performance in order to remain in competitive global market. There are several reason for the growing interest in creativity research. For innovation, creativity considered as fundamental for organizational performance and continuity in global market (Bodla, 2016). When the innovation process constantly demanding for novel solutions for products and service, creativity play an important role in merge and utilize diverse individual’s knowledge (Bouncken et al.,2016). The present study explore one of most current topic which is organizational creativity. In early 1990’s, the issue of organizational creativity received significant attention in many area of social science (Giustiniano et al., 2014). Organizational creativity refer to the creation of valuable and useful new products, service, ideas, procedures or process by individuals who working together in complex social system (Woodman et al., 1993).
Organizational creativity serves as creative result of groups, not happen simultaneously
with innovation, while it accomplished by gradual changes
Exploring The Drivers of Working from Home Preferences During Covid-19 Pandemic Among Engineers in Manufacturing Company
COVID-19 pandemic has changed and forced many parties, including individuals and business organizations, to alter their lifestyles, business patterns and working arrangement. Consequently, this situation cause majority of businesses to implement work from home (WFH) to the employees to ensure the business operations can operate continuously and sustainably. This study is conducted to explore the drivers that contributes to working from home preferences during covid-19 pandemic among engineers in manufacturing company. Specifically, this study examines the work environment, work-life balance, job satisfaction and performance, and work from home preferences. This study employed a purposive sampling technique with several inclusion criteria and was quantitative by using a survey involving 172 engineers in the manufacturing company. The study findings revealed that work environment and work-life balance significantly influence work from home preferences while job satisfaction and job performance are vice versa. This study also highlights the study implications, limitations, and possible future studies
Aggressive driving behaviour – A review of the literature
Road accidents in Malaysia keep increasing every year and most of the accidents ended with deaths, serious injuries and total loss of the vehicles. National Highway Safety Traffic Administration (NHSTA) (2017) defined road accidents as an event that occurs on a road open to public traffic; resulting in one or more persons being injured or killed, where at least one moving vehicle is involved. The phenomena of road accidents have been haunting the public as it can cause permanent disability and post-traumatic stress disorder to the drivers. Malaysia had experienced huge numbers of registered motor vehicles from 22,702,221 in 2013 to 26,904,539 in 2017. It shows about 15.62% growth for the last five years. Remarkably, in year 2017, the total number of motor vehicles in Malaysia is almost equal to the total population in that year. Increasing volume of motor vehicles will cause increasing number of interactions between road users’ and road accidents risk is getting higher (Ibrahim, Ismail, Halim & Amit, 2016
