    The Quantum Mellin transform

We uncover a new type of unitary operation for quantum mechanics on the half-line which yields a transformation to ``Hyperbolic phase space''. We show that this new unitary change of basis from the position x on the half line to the Hyperbolic momentum pΞ·p_\eta, transforms the wavefunction via a Mellin transform on to the critial line s=1/2βˆ’ipΞ·s=1/2-ip_\eta. We utilise this new transform to find quantum wavefunctions whose Hyperbolic momentum representation approximate a class of higher transcendental functions, and in particular, approximate the Riemann Zeta function. We finally give possible physical realisations to perform an indirect measurement of the Hyperbolic momentum of a quantum system on the half-line.Comment: 23 pages, 6 Figure

TabR: Unlocking the Power of Retrieval-Augmented Tabular Deep Learning

Deep learning (DL) models for tabular data problems are receiving increasingly more attention, while the algorithms based on gradient-boosted decision trees (GBDT) remain a strong go-to solution. Following the recent trends in other domains, such as natural language processing and computer vision, several retrieval-augmented tabular DL models have been recently proposed. For a given target object, a retrieval-based model retrieves other relevant objects, such as the nearest neighbors, from the available (training) data and uses their features or even labels to make a better prediction. However, we show that the existing retrieval-based tabular DL solutions provide only minor, if any, benefits over the properly tuned simple retrieval-free baselines. Thus, it remains unclear whether the retrieval-based approach is a worthy direction for tabular DL. In this work, we give a strong positive answer to this question. We start by incrementally augmenting a simple feed-forward architecture with an attention-like retrieval component similar to those of many (tabular) retrieval-based models. Then, we highlight several details of the attention mechanism that turn out to have a massive impact on the performance on tabular data problems, but that were not explored in prior work. As a result, we design TabR -- a simple retrieval-based tabular DL model which, on a set of public benchmarks, demonstrates the best average performance among tabular DL models, becomes the new state-of-the-art on several datasets, and even outperforms GBDT models on the recently proposed ``GBDT-friendly'' benchmark (see the first figure).Comment: Code: https://github.com/yandex-research/tabular-dl-tab

Sporadic radio emission connected with a definite manifestation of solar activity in the near Earth space

    Get PDF
Sporadic radio emission of near Earth space at the frequency of 38 MHz is shown to appear in the event of a rapid development of instabilities in the ionospheric plasma. The instabilities are generated due to primary ionospheric disturbances occurring under the influence of solar chromospheric flares

Impact of anionic synthetic surfactants of lead ions and their combinations on the pigment profile of freshwater plant organisms Ceratophyllum demersum and Egeria densa

The development of human civilization inevitably leads to the development of production with increasing emissions of many chemicals into the environment. This is especially noticeable in relation to surface waters of fresh water bodies. A very alarming point is that the amount of toxic anthropogenic substances, including heavy metals, is growing every year and is increasingly disturbing the existing ecological balance. Plant organisms of water bodies are among the first to experience the effects of any anthropogenic pollutants and especially heavy metals and surfactants, the amount of which increases in the water of rivers and lakes. Very important in this is the complex of morpho-physiological adaptations associated with restructuring in the structure of chloroplasts. Changes in the content of photosynthetic pigments in plants of two species (Ceratophyllum demersum and Egeria densa) were assessed when they were exposed to very common technogenic substances (lead ions and a solution of anionic synthetic surfactants). In plants, there is a decrease in the activity of molecular transport, inhibition of H+-ATPase, leading to a decrease in the pH of the cytoplasm and activation of hydrolases, which enhance the breakdown of biopolymers. This leads to changes in the expression of individual genes and increased synthesis of a number of stress proteins. Under these conditions, the assembly of cytoskeletal elements is activated, the structures of membrane proteins and lipids change, the level of ATP decreases, free radical processes are activated and the intensity of photosynthesis is inhibited

The Growth of CdTe Layer on GaAs Substrate by MBE

    Get PDF
We present the results of growth of CdTe layer on (013)GaAs substrate. The sequence processes include the preparation of GaAs surface by chemical etching and annealing in ultra-high vacuum, the growth of ZnTe layer on atomically clean GaAs surface and then the growth of CdTe layer on ZnTe/GaAs. All processes were carried out without removing GaAs substrate from MBE set. The processes were controlled by RHEED and single wavelength ellipsometry. We found that the evaporation of arsenic oxides and gallium oxides from the (001)GaAs surface were observed at over 400 and 500Β°C, respectively. The growth of CdTe on (001)GaAs leads to appearance of mixture orientations because of large mismatch of lattice parameters. We study the growth of ZnTe on (001)GaAs and (013)GaAs substrates to prevent the growth of mixture orientations. We study the influence of cadmium and tellurium ratio in molecular fluxes and temperature on the growth mechanism of ZnTe and CdTe, crystal perfection, surface roughness and defects density. The optimal condition for growth of high quality thick CdTe on GaAs substrate were found

Impact of anthropogenic toxic substances on the antioxidant defense of Ceratophyllum demersum and Egeria densa

    Get PDF
Considering the current increase in anthropogenic pollution of the environment, it becomes necessary to monitor the qualitative and quantitative aspects of the impact of pollution on various biological objects. Of great practical interest are the toxic effects of technogenic discharges on various hydrobionts and the basic mechanisms of their development in macrophyte plants. In this regard, this work studied the influence of heavy metal ions, anionic synthetic surfactants and their combinations on the activity of the main antioxidant enzymes in the tissues of Ceratophyllum demersum and Egeria densa. An experiment was conducted to assess changes in the freshwater macrophytes Ceratophyllum demersum and Egeria densa. The activity of antioxidant enzymes was taken into account: peroxidase, polyphenol oxidase, ascorbate oxidase and catalase. Their activity was assessed basally and in response to chemical stressors (100 Β΅mol/l lead ions, 1% solution of anionic synthetic surfactants) individually and in combination with different exposures to toxic substances. The identified features of enzymatic activity in the tissues of aquatic macrophytes indicate different levels and power of their antioxidant protection. It has been noted that the activity of antioxidant enzymes when plants are exposed to certain types of pollutants and their combinations is determined by the chemical nature of the pollutant, the mechanism of its action on the plant organism, the duration of exposure and the localization of these enzymes in cell compartments
