Analysis of universal methodologies of process management of industrial enterprises

    Get PDF
Large global corporations use one or more process management methodologies to improve their business processes and economic performance. As a rule, each of the methodologies is intended for application in a narrow field of activity. However, there are several universal methodologies, the application of which is possible in any field of activity. The analysis and development of practical recommendations on the application of universal process management methodologies is an urgent task for industrial enterprises, taking into account their specific features. The article analyzes the most common methodologies in the practice of Western corporations, in particular, Hammer, SCOR and BPTrends Associates. We revealed their advantages, disadvantages and peculiarities of application. The disadvantages of Hammer methodology, which significantly reduces the possibilities of its practical application, are the lack of methods for methodology implementation and modification of business processes, as well as a high level of risk in implementing the reengineering projects. The revealed disadvantages of SCOR methodology testify to the need to use it in combination with other methodologies of process management. The methodology of BPTrends Associates, due to its disadvantages, should also be supplemented by the methods of other methodologies of enterprise management

Comparative evaluation of quality characteristics of process equipment

A consumer estimates the product by two criteria: quality and price. Quality is a set of object properties that characterize its ability to satisfy statutory requirements or supposed needs of a person. The statutory requirements are needs that are regulated by normative legal acts; the supposed needs are needs that should be identified by market research. Objective features of the product occur during its development, manufacturing, storage, usage and have the valuation - price. Quality and price are two interrelated categories inherent in any product

The role of knowledge in developed countries is high. Scientific knowledge is the basis of the economy of the XXI century. Knowledge has become a new factor of production, the signifi-cance of which in competition will only increase. In the scientific literature they write about knowledge as an important competitive ad-vantage, strategic asset, but at the same time, it is extremely rare to find a clear definition of "knowledge". In scientific and business literature a large number of different interpretations of this definition are observed. In this article attempt to generalize the different points of view and to group them in approaches is made. The following attributes of the concept "knowledge" were identified: quality, relevance and descriptive characteristics. Analysis of the "knowledge" concept was conducted from the perspective of structural, in-tegrated, systematic-informational, systematic-functional, systematic-genetic, and systematic and management approaches. On the basis of this analysis there was proposed the author's defini-tion of the "knowledge" concept

Studying damage accumulation in martensitic corrosion-resistant steel under cold radial reduction

Cold radial reduction of specimens made of the Kh17N2 corrosion-resistant martensitic steel is studied on a lever-type radial-forging machine (RFM). The mechanical properties of the deformed specimens, the "damage accumulation - strain" relation in the specimens are obtained with the application of hydrostatic and fractographic methods for fractured specimens. The damage of the Kh17N2 corrosion-resistant steel is evaluated as a result of an experimental study considering the data of simulation by a complex finite element model of cold deformation on a lever-type RFM. © 2017 Author(s)

Поступила: 10.12.2018. Принята в печать: 14.02.2019.Received: 10.12.2018. Accepted: 14.02.2019. CubeSat.In recent years CubeSat satellites transmit very insignificant amount of information. Since CubeSats are small satellites, they cannot have large antennas. CubeSat project engineers still use half-wave dipoles as the main antenna despite the evolution of communication systems. It is necessary to use higher frequencies and directional antennas to increase the bandwidth. Moreover, the use of the directional parabolic antennas reduces the radiation power of the CubeSat transmitter, increasing the lifetime of the satellite. This paper includes the comparison of transformable antennas and half-wave dipoles in the case of using them as the CubeSat antenna system. Various types of automatic disclosed microwave antennas are given. The possibility of the transformable antennas use for the CubeSat satellites is investigated

Conductive cotton prepared by polyaniline in situ polymerization using laccase

The high-redox-potential catalyst laccase, isolated from Aspergillus, was first used as a biocatalyst in the oxidative polymerization of water-soluble conductive polyaniline, and then conductive cotton was prepared by in situ polymerization under the same conditions. The polymerization of aniline was performed in a water dispersion of sodium dodecylbenzenesulfonate (SDBS) micellar solution with atmospheric oxygen serving as the oxidizing agent. This method is ecologically clean and permits a greater degree of control over the kinetics of the reaction. The conditions for polyaniline synthesis were optimized. Characterizations of the conducting polyaniline and cotton were carried out using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, UV–vis spectroscopy, cyclic voltammetry, the fabric induction electrostatic tester, and the far-field EMC shielding effectiveness test fixture. This work was financially supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (21274055, 51173071), the Program for New Century Excellent Talents in University (NCET-12-0883), the Natural Science Foundation of Jiangsu Province (BK2011157), the Fundamental Research Funds for the Central Universities (JUSRP51312B), and the Program for Changjiang Scholars and Innovative Research Team in University (IRT1135)

Abstract

Background

Signal peptides (SPs) mediate the targeting of secretory precursor proteins to the correct subcellular compartments in prokaryotes and eukaryotes. Identifying these transient peptides is crucial to the medical, food and beverage and biotechnology industries yet our understanding of these peptides remains limited. This paper examines the most common type of signal peptides cleavable by the endoprotease signal peptidase I (SPase I), and the residues flanking the cleavage sites of three groups of signal peptide sequences, namely (i) eukaryotes (Euk) (ii) Gram-positive (Gram+) bacteria, and (iii) Gram-negative (Gram-) bacteria.

Results

In this study, 2352 secretory peptide sequences from a variety of organisms with amino-terminal SPs are extracted from the manually curated SPdb database for analysis based on physicochemical properties such as p<it>I</it>, aliphatic index, GRAVY score, hydrophobicity, net charge and position-specific residue preferences. Our findings show that the three groups share several similarities in general, but they display distinctive features upon examination in terms of their amino acid compositions and frequencies, and various physico-chemical properties. Thus, analysis or prediction of their sequences should be separated and treated as distinct groups.

Conclusion

We conclude that the peptide segment recognized by SPase I extends to the start of the mature protein to a limited extent, upon our survey of the amino acid residues surrounding the cleavage processing site. These flanking residues possibly influence the cleavage processing and contribute to non-canonical cleavage sites. Our findings are applicable in defining more accurate prediction tools for recognition and identification of cleavage site of SPs.</p
