Growth and development of stone pine (Pinus cembra L.) as an admixture in spruce regeneration on Radziejowa Mount in Beskid Sądecki

Stone pines growing in the Radziejowa range exhibited a regular growth and development. At the age of 10 years, young trees developed regular, conical crowns. An increase in number and length of lateral shoots ensured development of the assimilatory apparatus. The vitality of stone pine was high. The trees characterised even by 5−year−old needles. Stone pine is found to be the admixture species stabilising the growth of plantations located at higher elevations of the upper mountain zone beyond the natural range of distribution of this species

Effect of water content on the phase transitions of sucrose mixtures with agar

W pracy określono wpływ stopnia uwodniona sacharozy amorficznej i jej mieszanin z agarem na parametry ich przemian fazowych (temperatura przemiany szklistej, temperatura i ciepło kystalizacji, temperatura i ciepło topnienia). Stwierdzono, że wraz ze wzrostem zawartości wody we wszystkich badanych materiałach, nastąpiło obniżenie temperatury i ciepła krystalizacji oraz temperatury i ciepła topnienia. 1% dodatek agaru wpłynął na opóźnienie procesu krystalizacji sacharozy i spowodował ponad dwukrotny wzrost wartości ciepła topnienia w porównaniu do czystej sacharozy amorficznej.In the paper the effects of the degree of hydration of amorphous sucrose and its mixtures with agar on the parameters of their phase transitions (glass transition temperature, the temperature and heat of crystallization, melting temperature and heat) were investigated. Increase in water content in all analyzed materials caused a decrease of the crystallization and melting temperatures and heats. The addition 1% of agar delayed sucrose crystallization and caused over a twofold increase in the value of melting heat as compared to pure amorphous sucrose

Effect of temperature on parameters of batteries used in submarines

Najczęściej podawanymi w literaturze parametrami eksploatacyjnymi akumulatorów kwasowych są gęstość elektrolitu oraz napięcie ogniwa. Tymczasem na wartości tych parametrów oraz wielu innych znaczący wpływ ma temperatura pracy ogniwa. W oparciu o instrukcje eksploatacyjne akumulatorów TGF 36 i typu 38UR9 oraz doświadczenia eksploatacyjne przedstawiono wpływ temperatury elektrolitu na procesy zachodzące w akumulatorach stosowanych na okrętach podwodnych.Density of electrolyte and voltage of cell are operating parameters of acid batteries most often mentioned in literature. However, it is work temperature of cell that has significant effect on magnitudes of these parameters. Operating manuals for batteries TGF 36 and 38UR9 were used to present the effect of electrolyte temperature on processes occurring in batteries used in submarines

Composite bridges of steel-concrete on INP-girders

Pierwszą polską normą do mostów zespolonych była PN-EN 1994-2:2010. Mimo to, w latach 60. do 80. zbudowano wiele mostów zespolonych na dźwigarach INP, które funkcjonują do dzisiaj. Kilka z tych obiektów zostało omówionych w artykule.The first Polish standard for composite bridges of steel-concrete was the PN-EN 1994-2: 2010. Despite this, in the time between the 60s and the 80s, many composite bridges were built on the INP girders. They still have been in operation. Several of these objects have been discussed in the paper

Parametric structural shape optimization using the global Trefftz approach

The global Trefftz approach is appied to optimalization of certain types of structures. Numerical examples show advantages of the method proposed. The algorithm can be extended to cover optimization using the Trefftz finite element solutions.Parametryczna optymalizacja kształtu konstrukcji z użyciem globalnej metody Trefftza Globalną metodę Trefftza zastosowano do optymalizacji pewnych typów elementów konstrukcji.
