In this paper, a finite-state mean-reverting model for the short-rate, based on the continuous time Ehrenfest process, will be examined. Two explicit pricing formulae for zero-coupon bonds will be derived in the general and the special symmetric cases. Its limiting relationship to the Vasicek model will be examined with some numerical results

New examples of a rare coin type of Gerasa in the Decapolis

In diesem Beitrag werden drei neue Exemplare eines seltenen Münztyps aus Gerasa vorgestellt; er wurde unter Elagabal ausgegeben und zeigt auf der Rückseite Artemis in einem zweisäuligen Tempel. Die Anzahl der überlieferten Stücke erhöht sich damit auf sechs. Es handelt sich um den bislang einzigen bekannten Architekturtyp aus Gerasa. Die Zuweisung zu Gerasa wird durch die nun klar lesbare Legende mit dem Ethnikon im Genitiv Plural bestätigt. Für diese Verortung spricht auch die Verwendung eines Gegenstempels mit Bogen.We present three additional examples of an extremely rare coin type of Gerasa struck at the time of Elagabalus and depicting a statue of Artemis inside a distyle temple, bringing total number of known examples to six. The type is quite significant, being the only architectural type minted in Gerasa. The newly published examples allow to fully read the reverse inscription with the ethnic of the city in genitive plural form. One of the coins is bearing a bow shaped countermark known from two other coin types of Gerasa from the time of Elagabalus

In diesem Beitrag können nun anhand von neuem Material für drei Typen die bisher angenommenen Prägestätten Kyrene, Adraa und Tiberias zugunsten von Bostra, Petra und Epidauros korrigiert werden. Six Unpublished Nabataean Drachms: Filling some Gaps

Sechs bisher unbekannte nabatäische Drachmen aus der Regierungszeit von Aretas IV., Malichus II. und Rabbel II. werden in diesem Artikel vorgestellt. Die jeweils datierten Münzen schließen einige der zeitlichen Lücken in der Silberprägung dieser Zeit. Einblick in die Silberknappheit im nabatäischen Königreichs während dieser Periode wird gegeben. Für bislang (noch) nicht nachgewiesene datierte Drachmen lassen sich Vermutungen aufstellen.Six hitherto unknown dated Nabataean drachms from the reigns of Aretas IV, Malichus II, and Rabbel II are described in this article. The existence of these coins tightens some of the temporal gaps in the dated silver coinage of this period. Insight into the scarcity of silver within the Nabataean kingdom during this period is demonstrated. Suggestions as to yet undiscovered dated drachms are also made

New approaches to pattern discovery in signals via empirical mode decomposition

Empirical mode decomposition (EMD) is an adaptive, data-driven technique for processing and analyzing various types of non-stationary vibrational signals. EMD is a powerful and effective tool for signal preprocessing (denoising, detrending, regularity estimation) and time-frequency analysis. This paper discusses pattern discovery in signals via EMD. New approaches to this problem are introduced. In addition, the methods expounded here may be considered as a way of denoising and coping with the redundancy problem of EMD. A general classification of intrinsic mode functions (IMFs) in accordance with their physical interpretation is offered and an attempt is made to perform classification on the basis of the regression theory, special classification statistics and a clustering algorithm. The main advantage of the suggested techniques is their capability of working automatically. Simulation studies have been undertaken on multiharmonic vibrational signals

Unified low-parametrical equation of state for engineering calculations of thermodynamic properties of substances

The new simple semi empirical equation of state for description of P-ρ-T data of “normal” substances was specified. New equation of state has 10 individual adjustable coefficients and it describes thermal properties of gas, liquid and fluid in the main with the accuracy within the error of experimental data, except of critical region. The caloric properties and the speed of sound of argon, nitrogen and carbon dioxide were calculated with the help of known thermodynamic equations and in general divergences between calculated and tabular caloric data do not exceed the experimental error. New equation can be used for engineering calculations at the deficit of experimental data, especially on the caloric properties of substances
