Early Results of Slanted Recession of the Lateral Rectus Muscle for Intermittent Exotropia with Convergence Insufficiency
The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of slanted recession of the lateral rectus muscle for intermittent exotropia with convergence insufficiency. This prospective study included 31 patients who underwent slanted lateral rectus recession for intermittent exotropia with convergence insufficiency between June 2010 and June 2012. Following parameters were recorded and analyzed: patient sex, age, preoperative and postoperative near and distance ocular alignment, and changes in stereopsis. The mean age of the patients was 9.2 years. The preoperative mean deviation angle was 32.4 PD at distance and 43.4 PD at near. After 6 months, slanted lateral rectus recession reduced the deviation angles to 2 PD at distance and 3.4 PD at near. In addition, the mean difference between distance and near deviation angles was significantly reduced from 11 PD to 1.4 PD at 6 months postoperatively. Slanted lateral rectus recession for intermittent exotropia with convergence insufficiency in children successfully reduced the distance and near exodeviations and the near-distance difference without increasing the risk of long-term postoperative esotropia or diplopia

endoscopic finding revealed several flat and black pigmented
mucosal lesions within the distal portion of the esophagus which
looked like flat nevus. The histopathology and immunohistochemical
profile of the tissue specimens were diagnostic of malignant
melanoma
A Study on Thermal Modeling and Heat Load Mitigation for Satellite Electronic Components
Since most of the satellite components are using various EEE (Electrical, Electronic and Electromechanical) parts, the reliability of EEE parts acts very important in the satellite system. There are many factors that influence the reliability of EEE parts in the satellite system. Excessively dissipated heat can cause the failure of EEE parts and consequently, leading to a failure of total satellite system. In this paper, the thermal modeling using nodal network was compared with that using plate modeling to find out which one is the most suitable methodology. For a comparison, KOMPSAT- 1 SAR was modeled by two different modeling and the result was discussed. There was almost no difference in the numerical results between the two modeling methods. However, while it took much more time to perform thermal analysis using the nodal network modeling method, and the debugging was more difficult in the plate modeling method when the error is occurred. The computation time was considerably reduced by developing and implementing the input file format transfer code when using nodal network modeling method. It was found that the nodal network modeling method is suitable for the complicated components, such as SAR or transponder, because of its simple debugging ability. Excessive heat load was expected on some EEE parts of SAR such as high heat-dissipated diodes, transistors, and inductors due to increased power requirements of KOMPSAT-2 satellite system. The methods for the mitigation of heat load were studied through the design change of housing or the layout change of high power parts

Tire Art: Environmental Education through Science, Visual and Language Arts
This international project examined the use of an arts-integrated approach to teaching and learning 8th grade science and language art. It involved two arts faculty collaborating with classroom teachers in the US and South Korea. In the context of the "Tire Art project”, students and teachers were guided through several 2D and 3D creative interactions emphasizing innovative uses for recycled car tires and bicycle wheels. In this paper, authors discuss the learning that happened through the arts, and the learning that happened (by teachers) of arts integration methods. It is to be noted that integration is not only about the arts. In fact, if teachers take advantage of this approach, they will discover more connections and bridges between various non-art subjects. When teachers are as affected by innovative approaches as the students, they often feel more confident and empowered in their professional competencies

Determinants Of Enforcement Action By The Financial Supervisory Service Of Korea From The Perspective Of Audit Firms
In this study, we examine the determinants of enforcement action by the Financial Supervisory Service of Korea from the perspective of audit firms. Enforcement action is an indication of audit failure. Both client- and audit firm-specific factors are involved in its occurrence. Most published studies of enforcement after audit failure focus on client characteristics because details about audit firms from financial statements and information about organizational structure are not publicly available. However, examining the issues surrounding enforcement from the perspective of audit firms may also be valuable in elucidating the potential determinants of audit failure resulting in enforcement action. Utilizing publicly available data from audit firms in South Korea, we identify several audit firm characteristics as determinants of enforcement action. The results of our empirical analysis reveal that the likelihood of audit failure is positively associated with the ratio of accounts receivable to total assets, the ratio of audit fees to total revenue, the ratio of partners to the total number of CPAs, CEO ownership, and age of audit firms. In addition, the likelihood of audit failure is negatively associated with ownership concentration and profitability. These associations are more pronounced in non-affiliated audit firms than affiliated audit firms. Several useful implications for regulators are described for improving audit quality by means of enforcement action
