    The Relationships among Sea-Food Restaurant Service Quality, Perceived Value, Customer Satisfaction and Behavioral Intentions Using Structural Equation Models: a Case of Pengh

    To identify the relationships among sea-food rest aurant service quality/ perceived value/satisfaction and behavioral intentions, this research establish es a study structure and formulates six hypothese s from the related literatures reviews. Structural equation models were used to validate the relatio nship based on the surveyed sample collected fro m the restaurants’ tourists. The findings indicate that overall sea-food restaurant service quality po sitively and significantly influences perceived val ue, and overall sea-food restaurant perceived valu e had a significant role in influencing satisfaction. Additionally, overall sea-food restaurant perceive d value and satisfaction are significant predictors of customer’s behavioral intentions. Customer sa tisfaction can act as a partial mediator in the rel ationship between overall sea-food restaurant serv ice quality, perceived value and behavioral intenti ons. However, restaurant’s service quality did not positively influence either the customer satisfacti on or the behavioral intentions. Furthermore, the constructs including responsiveness, assurance, an d reliability are the appropriate observations to m easure sea-food restaurant service quality which s ignificantly influences the perceived value. Theref ore, upgrading the responsiveness, assurance, and reliability on service quality in sea-food restaura nt is an effective way to increase the customers’ perceived value, satisfaction and behavioral inte ntions. This research results can be referenced by the restaurant owners/ operators in operational management

    Computed tomography arterial portography for assessment of portal vein injury after blunt hepatic trauma

    PURPOSEIntrahepatic portal vein injuries secondary to blunt abdominal trauma are difficult to diagnose and can result in insidious bleeding. We aimed to compare computed tomography arterial portography (CTAP), reperfusion CTAP (rCTAP), and conventional computed tomography (CT) for diagnosing portal vein injuries after blunt hepatic trauma.METHODSPatients with blunt hepatic trauma, who were eligible for nonoperative management, underwent CTAP, rCTAP, and CT. The number and size of perfusion defects observed using the three methods were compared.RESULTSA total of 13 patients (seven males/six females) with a mean age of 34.5±14.1 years were included in the study. A total of 36 hepatic segments had perfusion defects on rCTAP and CT, while there were 47 hepatic segments with perfusion defects on CTAP. The size of perfusion defects on CT (239 cm3; interquartile range [IQR]: 129.5, 309.5) and rCTAP (238 cm3; IQR: 129.5, 310.5) were significantly smaller compared with CTAP (291 cm3; IQR: 136, 371) (both, P = 0.002).CONCLUSIONPerfusion defects measured by CTAP were significantly greater than those determined by either rCTAP or CT in cases of blunt hepatic trauma. This finding suggests that CTAP is superior to rCTAP and CT in evaluating portal vein injuries after blunt liver trauma

    BACKGROUND: We recently identified the human leukocyte immunoglobulin-like receptor B2 (LILRB2) and its mouse ortholog-paired Ig-like receptor (PirB) as receptors for several angiopoietin-like proteins (Angptls). We also demonstrated that PirB is important for the development of acute myeloid leukemia (AML), but exactly how an inhibitory receptor such as PirB can support cancer development is intriguing. RESULTS: Here, we showed that the activation of Ca (2+)/calmodulin-dependent protein kinases (CAMKs) is coupled with PirB signaling in AML cells. High expression of CAMKs is associated with a poor overall survival probability in patients with AML. Knockdown of CAMKI or CAMKIV decreased human acute leukemia development in vitro and in vivo. Mouse AML cells that are defective in PirB signaling had decreased activation of CAMKs, and the forced expression of CAMK partially rescued the PirB-defective phenotype in the MLL-AF9 AML mouse model. The inhibition of CAMK kinase activity or deletion of CAMKIV significantly slowed AML development and decreased the AML stem cell activity. We also found that CAMKIV acts through the phosphorylation of one of its well-known target (CREB) in AML cells. CONCLUSION: CAMKs are essential for the growth of human and mouse AML. The inhibition of CAMK signaling may become an effective strategy for treating leukemia

    What is a soundscape intervention? Exploring definitions and identification criteria and a platform to gather real-world examples

    Possible definitions for the concept of “soundscape intervention” and criteria that could be used to identify stages in a design-oriented framework are discussed. This is in line with the Part 4 of the ISO 12913 series on soundscape being currently developed. For some time already, the soundscape concept has attracted attention from policymakers and practitioners of the built environment, as it advocates for more engagement with local communities in design processes. This is reflected in several documents published by national and international agencies calling for consultation and participation of the public in the definition of soundscape interventions. However, this intended framework is still trying to bridge a gap with the planning and design community, possibly for the lack of conspicuous empirical evidence (i.e., case studies and success stories) showing the benefits provided by the soundscape approach, and some lack of consensus about what a “soundscape intervention” is in the first place. Therefore, an online platform will be presented that can be used for data collection of soundscape intervention examples. This relates to the preliminary stage of a project called “Catalogue of Soundscape Interventions (CSI)”, which has the long-term goal of observing frequent/recurring situations or strategies that can be collated into design toolkits and formulate design briefs that local authorities will be using to communicate with soundscape consultants

    Designing ultrafine lamellar eutectic structure in bimodal titanium alloys by semi-solid sintering

    We report on a novel approach to design typical ultrafine lamellar eutectic structure in bimodal alloys fabricated by semi-solid sintering (SSS) of a eutectic mixture. In our work ultrafine lamellar eutectic structure was implemented by controlling the phase composition of eutectic reaction and consequently by regulating the structure of eutectic reaction-induced liquid phase through varying component number. Microstructure analysis indicate that although all SSSed alloys have the same three phase constitutions of bcc beta-Ti(Fe Co) and fcc Ti-2(Co Fe) the morphology and distribution of the eutectic structure transforms from limited length and minor quantity to partial fine alternating bcc beta-Ti and bcc Ti(Fe Co) lamellae and further to typical complete ultrafine alternating continuous lamellae in the SSSed ternary Ti-Fe-Co quaternary Ti-Fe-Co-Nb and quinary Ti-Fe-Co-Nb-Al alloys. Interestingly the SSSed Ti-Fe-Co-Nb-Al alloy presents a novel bimodal microstructure of coarse fcc Ti-2(Co Fe) surrounded by an ultrafine lamellar eutectic matrix containing ultrafine bcc beta-Ti and bcc Ti(Fe Co) lamellae. This bimodal microstructure exhibits ultra-high yield strength of 2050 MPa with plasticity in compression of 19.7% which exceed published values of equivalent materials. Our results provide a novel pathway for fabricating new-structure metallic alloys for high-performance structural applications. (C) 2017 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.</p
