Antioxidantactivity In Vitro And Hepatoprotective Effect Of Phlomis Maximowiczii In Vivo
Background: Anumber of medicinal plants and there compounds played a major role in the treatment of hepatic disorders. They were widely used for the treatment of these disorders, and oxidant stress injury was one of the liver injury mechanisms. The present study evaluated the antioxidant activity and the hepatoprotective effect of each extracts of Phlomis maximowiczii.Materials and Methods: The antioxidant activity was assayed by the methods of ABTS, FRAP and DPPH in vitro. Hepatoprotective effect of P. maximowiczii extracts was examined using carbon tetrachloride-induced acute liver injury in mice.Results: P. maximowiczii n-butanol (PMBU) extract, ABTS (IC50=18.96 μg/mL), DPPH (IC50=25.15 μg/mL), and FRAP (RACT50=2775.6±144.18 μmol/g), showed higher scavenging capacity than that of P. maximowiczii ethyl acetate (PMEA). The n-butanol extract could significantly reduce the level of GPT, GOT and MDA (P<0.05, P<0.001 and P<0.001, respectively) and increase the level of SOD (P<0.001), respectively.Conclusion: The antioxidant activity of n-butanol extract in vitro was related with the level ofMDAand SOD in vivo, and hepatoprotective effect of n-butanol extract also had relationship with its antioxidant activity in vivo.Key words: Phlomis maximowiczii, anti-oxidation, acute liver in jury, carbon tetrachloride
Magnetic field induced enhancement of spin-order peak intensity in La(1.875)Ba(0.125)CuO(4)
We report on neutron-scattering results on the impact of a magnetic field on
stripe order in the cuprate LaBaCuO. It is found that a
7 T magnetic field applied along the {\it c} axis causes a small but finite
enhancement of the spin-order peak intensity and has no observable effect on
the peak width. Inelastic neutron-scattering measurements indicate that the
low-energy magnetic excitations are not affected by the field, within
experimental error. In particular, the small energy gap that was recently
reported is still present at low temperature in the applied field. In addition,
we find that the spin-correlation length along the antiferromagnetic stripes is
greater than that perpendicular to them.Comment: 4 pages, 5 figure
THE EFFECTS OF WEARING SPANDEX PANTS ON IMPACT FORCES AND MUSCLE ACTIVITY DURING DROP LANDING
INTRODUCTION: Nigg and Wakeling (2001) proposed that repetitive impact force are not an important form an injury perspective but are the reason for change in muscle activity to minimize soft tissue vibrations. Doan et al. (2003) found that wearing compressive shorts reduced muscle oscillation on landing and concluded that this may have benefit in terms of reduced tissue injury. If wearing spandex pants may tune the muscle to minimize vibration, there is specific adjustment made to reduce joint loading because subsequent changes in muscle activity would change joint stiffness. Since actual effect of wearing spandex pants on muscle activity and impact force are not established, the purpose of this study were to determine how spandex pants affect impact force and muscle activities in the lower extremity
Deep Historical Borrowing Framework to Prospectively and Simultaneously Synthesize Control Information in Confirmatory Clinical Trials with Multiple Endpoints
In current clinical trial development, historical information is receiving
more attention as providing value beyond sample size calculation.
Meta-analytic-predictive (MAP) priors and robust MAP priors have been proposed
for prospectively borrowing historical data on a single endpoint. To
simultaneously synthesize control information from multiple endpoints in
confirmatory clinical trials, we propose to approximate posterior probabilities
from a Bayesian hierarchical model and estimate critical values by deep
learning to construct pre-specified decision functions before the trial
conduct. Simulation studies and a case study demonstrate that our method
additionally preserves power, and has a satisfactory performance under
prior-data conflict
Magnetic and quantum entanglement properties of the distorted diamond chain model for azurite
We present the results of magnetic properties and entanglement of the
distorted diamond chain model for azurite using pure quantum exchange
interactions. The magnetic properties and concurrence as a measure of pairwise
thermal entanglement have been studied by means of variational mean-field like
treatment based on Gibbs-Bogoliubov inequality. Such a system can be considered
as an approximation of the natural material azurite, Cu3(CO3)2(OH)2. For values
of exchange parameters, which are taken from experimental results, we study the
thermodynamic properties, such as azurite specific heat and magnetic
susceptibility. We also have studied the thermal entanglement properties and
magnetization plateau of the distorted diamond chain model for azurite
Enhancement of Sm3+emission by SnO2nanocrystals in the silica matrix
Silica xerogels containing Sm3+ions and SnO2nanocrystals were prepared in a sol–gel process. The image of transmission electron microscopy (TEM) shows that the SnO2nanocrystals are dispersed in the silica matrix. The X-ray diffraction (XRD) of the sample confirms the tetragonal phase of SnO2. The xerogels containing SnO2nanocrystals and Sm3+ions display the characteristic emission of Sm3+ions (4G5/2 → 6HJ(J = 5/2, 7/2, 9/2)) at the excitation of 335 nm which energy corresponds to the energy gap of the SnO2nanocrystals, while no emission of Sm3+ions can be observed for the samples containing Sm3+ions. The enhancement of the Sm3+emission is probably due to the energy transfer from SnO2nanocrystals to Sm3+ions
Asymmetric Origin for Gravitino Relic Density in the Hybrid Gravity-Gauge Mediated Supersymmetry Breaking
We propose the hybrid gravity-gauge mediated supersymmetry breaking where the
gravitino mass is about several GeV. The strong constraints on supersymmetry
viable parameter space from the CMS and ATLAS experiments at the LHC can be
relaxed due to the heavy colored supersymmetric particles, and it is consistent
with null results in the dark matter (DM) direct search experiments such as
XENON100. In particular, the possible maximal flavor and CP violations from the
relatively small gravity mediation may naturally account for the recent LHCb
anomaly. In addition, because the gravitino mass is around the asymmetric DM
mass, we propose the asymmetric origin of the gravitino relic density and solve
the cosmological coincident problem on the DM and baryon densities \Omega_{\rm
DM}:\Omega_{B}\approx 5:1. The gravitino relic density arises from asymmetric
metastable particle (AMP) late decay. However, we show that there is no AMP
candidate in the minimal supersymmetric Standard Model (SM) due to the robust
gaugino/Higgsino mediated wash-out effects. Interestingly, AMP can be realized
in the well motivated supersymmetric SMs with vector-like particles or
continuous U(1)_R symmetry. Especially, the lightest CP-even Higgs boson mass

Prevalence of Childhood Atopic Dermatitis: An Urban and Rural Community-Based Study in Shanghai, China
Background: Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a common inflammatory and chronically relapsing disorder with increasing prevalence. However, little is known about its prevalence in Shanghai, the top metropolitan of China. This study will estimate and compare the prevalence of AD in urban and rural areas in representative samples of 3 to 6-year-old children in Shanghai. Methodology/Principal Findings: A descriptive cross-sectional study was performed. Pre-school children were obtained by cluster sampling from 8 communities in different districts in Shanghai. The main instrument was the core questionnaire module for AD used in the U.K. Working Party’s study. All the data were statistically analyzed by EpiData 3.1 and SPSS16.0. A total of 10436 children completed the study satisfactorily, with a response rate of 95.8%. The prevalence of AD in 3 to 6-year-old children was 8.3 % (Male: 8.5%, Female: 8.2%). The prevalence in urban areas of Shanghai was gradiently and significantly higher than that in rural areas. The highest prevalence was in the core urban area (10.2 % in Xuhui Tianping) vs. the lowest far from the urban areas (4.6 % in Chongming Baozhen).
