On the problem of synthesis of superheavy nuclei. A short historical review on first theoretical predictions and new experimental reality
It is shown that it is just Dubna that possesses the priority both in the
recent synthesis of a superheavy nucleus with charge Z = 114 (Flerov Laboratory
of Nuclear Reactions, JINR) and in its theoretical prediction (Bogoliubov
Laboratory of Theoretical Physics, JINR) made 33 years ago. Possible sizes of
the island of stability of superheavy nuclei are discussed.Comment: LaTeX, 6 page
Synthesis of Superheavy elements and Theory of Atomic Nucleus
The connection of synthesis of long-lived superheavy nuclei and existence of
the island of stability with the choice of realistic nuclear potential is
discussed: the behaviour of the average field of nuclei is an important element
of nuclear models. It is also shown that it is just Dubna that possesses the
priority both in the recent synthesis of a superheavy nucleus with charge Z=114
and in its theoretical prediction made 35 years ago. Possible sizes of the
island of stability of superheavy nuclei are considered.Comment: 14 pages . Talk at the Intern.Symp.on Exotic Nuclei . Baikal Lake,

Angular Schmidt Modes in Spontaneous Parametric Down-Conversion
We report a proof-of-principle experiment demonstrating that appropriately
chosen set of Hermite-Gaussian modes constitutes a Schmidt decomposition for
transverse momentum states of biphotons generated in the process of spontaneous
parametric down conversion. We experimentally realize projective measurements
in Schmidt basis and observe correlations between appropriate pairs of modes.
We perform tomographical state reconstruction in the Schmidt basis, by direct
measurement of single-photon density matrix eigenvalues.Comment: 5 pages, 4 figure
The gamma-ray telescope Gamma-1
French and Soviet specialists have designed and built the gamma-ray telescope GAMMA-1 to detect cosmic gamma rays above 50 MeV. The sensitive area of the detector is 1400 sq cm, energy resolution is 30% at 300 MeV, and angular resolution 1.2 deg at 300 MeV (and less than 20' arc when a coded aperture mask is used). Results on calibration of the qualification model and Monte-Carlo calculations are presented
Analysis of hadron production in nucleus-nucleus interactions up to and out of kinematical limit of free NN-collisions in the frame of FRITIOF model
In the framework of the modified FRITIOF model, the inclusive spectra of the
cumulative -, -mesons and protons produced in the
nucleus-nucleus interactions at 4.5 GeV/c/nucleon and 4.2 GeV/c/nucleon are
calculated. It is shown that the model reproduces qualitatively, and in some
cases quantitatively the main experimental regularities of -mesons
production, and "soft" part of the proton spectra. According to the model the
production of the cumulative particles is connected with the mechanism of the
"soft" nucleon-nucleon interaction.Comment: 12 pages, 11 figure
Self-calibrating Tomography for Angular Schmidt Modes in Spontaneous Parametric Down-Conversion
We report an experimental self-calibrating tomography scheme for entanglement
characterization in high-dimensional quantum systems using Schmidt
decomposition techniques. The self-tomography technique based on maximal
likelihood estimation was developed for characterizing non-ideal measurements
in Schmidt basis allowing us to infer both Schmidt eigenvalues and detecting
efficiencies.Comment: 10 pages, 11 figure
