On a q-difference Painlev\'e III equation: II. Rational solutions

Rational solutions for a qq-difference analogue of the Painlev\'e III equation are considered. A Determinant formula of Jacobi-Trudi type for the solutions is constructed.Comment: Archive version is already official. Published by JNMP at http://www.sm.luth.se/math/JNMP

    Hypergeometric solutions to the q-Painlev\'e equation of type A4(1)A_4^{(1)}

We consider the q-Painlev\'e equation of type A4(1)A_4^{(1)} (a version of q-Painlev\'e V equation) and construct a family of solutions expressible in terms of certain basic hypergeometric series. We also present the determinant formula for the solutions.Comment: 16 pages, IOP styl

Crystal-field-induced magnetostrictions in the spin reorientation process of Nd2_2Fe14_{14}B-type compounds

Volume expansion ΔV/V\Delta V / V associated with the spin reorientation process of Nd2_2Fe14_{14}B-type compounds has been investigated in terms of simple crystalline-electric-field (CEF) model. In this system, ΔV/V\Delta V / V is shown to be a direct measure of second order CEF energy. Calculated anomalies in ΔV/V\Delta V / V associated with the first-order magnetization process of Nd2_2Fe14_{14}B are presented, which well reproduced the observations.Comment: 2 pages, 2 figures, to appear in J. On a q-difference Painlev\'e III equation: I. Derivation, symmetry and Riccati type solutions

A q-difference analogue of the Painlev\'e III equation is considered. Its derivations, affine Weyl group symmetry, and two kinds of special function type solutions are discussed.Comment: arxiv version is already officia

Bilinear Discrete Painleve-II and its Particular Solutions

By analogy to the continuous Painlev\'e II equation, we present particular solutions of the discrete Painlev\'e II (d-PII\rm_{II}) equation. These solutions are of rational and special function (Airy) type. Our analysis is based on the bilinear formalism that allows us to obtain the Ï„\tau function for d-PII\rm_{II}. Two different forms of bilinear d-PII\rm_{II} are obtained and we show that they can be related by a simple gauge transformation.Comment: 9 pages in plain Te

A remark on the Hankel determinant formula for solutions of the Toda equation

We consider the Hankel determinant formula of the Ï„\tau functions of the Toda equation. We present a relationship between the determinant formula and the auxiliary linear problem, which is characterized by a compact formula for the Ï„\tau functions in the framework of the KP theory. Similar phenomena that have been observed for the Painlev\'e II and IV equations are recovered. The case of finite lattice is also discussed.Comment: 14 pages, IOP styl

Nambu-Hamiltonian flows associated with discrete maps

For a differentiable map (x1,x2,...,xn)→(X1,X2,...,Xn)(x_1,x_2,..., x_n)\to (X_1,X_2,..., X_n) that has an inverse, we show that there exists a Nambu-Hamiltonian flow in which one of the initial value, say xnx_n, of the map plays the role of time variable while the others remain fixed. We present various examples which exhibit the map-flow correspondence.Comment: 19 page

Multivortex Solutions of the Weierstrass Representation

The connection between the complex Sine and Sinh-Gordon equations on the complex plane associated with a Weierstrass type system and the possibility of construction of several classes of multivortex solutions is discussed in detail. We perform the Painlev\'e test and analyse the possibility of deriving the B\"acklund transformation from the singularity analysis of the complex Sine-Gordon equation. We make use of the analysis using the known relations for the Painlev\'{e} equations to construct explicit formulae in terms of the Umemura polynomials which are Ï„\tau-functions for rational solutions of the third Painlev\'{e} equation. New classes of multivortex solutions of a Weierstrass system are obtained through the use of this proposed procedure. Some physical applications are mentioned in the area of the vortex Higgs model when the complex Sine-Gordon equation is reduced to coupled Riccati equations.Comment: 27 pages LaTeX2e, 1 encapsulated Postscript figur
