Error bounds for gaussian quadrature formulae with legendre weight function for analytic integrands

In this paper we are concerned with a method for the numerical evaluation of the error terms in Gaussian quadrature formulae with the Legendre weight function. Inspired by the work of H. Wang and L. Zhang [J. Sci. Comput., 75 (2018), pp. 457-477] and applying the results of S. Notaris [Math. Comp., 75 (2006), pp. 1217-1231], we determine an explicit formula for the kernel. This explicit expression is used for finding the points on ellipses where the maximum of the modulus of the kernel is attained. Effective error bounds for this quadrature formula for analytic integrands are derived

Background: Menstruation was presented as a result of inflammatory process. The total and relative numbers of the endometrial immunocompetitive cells vary during the different phases of the menstrual cycle. The aim of this morphological study is to make a contribution to understanding different distribution of leukocyte types during proliferative and secretory phase of normal menstrual cycle. Materials and methods: The study included 40 women (20 in proliferative and 20 in secretory phase of the menstrual cycle). Exploratory curettage performed as preoperative preparation due to uterine myomas. Immunophenotyping was performed by immunoalkaline phosphatase (APAAP) using monoclonal antibodies: CD15, CD20, CD30, CD45RO, CD56, CD57 and CD68. The results were statistically analysed using SPSS 20.0 software. Results: Natural killer (NK) cells are dominant during secretory, and CD45RO T lymphocytes are dominant during proliferative phase of the menstrual cycle. During the secretory phase of menstrual cycle, leukocytes make 30% of total endometrial cells. NK cells (CD56+ bright subpopulation), activated T lymphocytes, macrophages and B lymphocytes significantly increase in their number during the secretory phase of menstrual cycle. Conclusions: Significant changes in endometrial leukocyte populations during proliferative and secretory phase of the menstrual cycle are emphasized. Changes in dominance of different leukocyte subpopulations are determined by hormonal and microenvironmental changes in modulatory factors that have not yet been fully explained

Introduction: The policy concerning drugs represents a concentrated effort to achieve better health outcomes for all, with a particular focus on people's access to and rational use of medications. On the basis of pharmacoeconomic analyses, it is possible to modify established prescribing habits, it is possible to influence the creation of guidelines, development strategy and long-term health care planning. Aim: The aim of the work was to determine drugs with the highest expenditure in the Republic of Serbia, and to compare the results obtained in three consecutive years 2016, 2017 and 2018. Also, to analyze which are the most expensive medications listed in the National Register of Medications and what is the trend of changing them. Material and methods: The drug expenditure was monitored using the ATC/DDD methodology. It implies the classification of medications according to the internationally accepted ATC classification of drugs, while DDD, i.e. defined daily dose, is used as a statistical unit for consumption monitoring. The number of DDD/1,000 inhabitants per day provides an insight into how many inhabitants (out of 1,000 of them) used the observed medication and were exposed to its effects during one day. Results: The trend of expenditure of these medications was growing exponentially from 2016 to 2018. The most expensive medications per box are from group J - anti-infective drugs for systemic use and L - antineoplastics and immunomodulators, but their expenditure in the Republic of Serbia is very low. The drugs with the highest price per 1 DDD are: enzymes imiglucerase, laronidase and the biological medication basiliximab in all three years, but considering the indications and rare prescribing, the total cost for these drugs is not high. The largest funds in the Republic of Serbia for the mentioned period were spent on drugs such as: acetylsalicylic acid, paracetamol in combinations, trastuzumab, pantoprazole, amlodipine and rosuvastatin. Comparing the spending on L group of drugs in 2017 compared to 2016, there was a significant increase. Conclusion: The medications with the highest expenditure in the Republic of Serbia are used very little compared to countries with good pharmacotherapy practice. The most expensive drugs are those that are used for special and rare indications, and large amounts of money are not allocated for them as for some cheaper, but more frequently prescribed drugs

Development of non-peptide ACE inhibitors as novel and potent cardiovascular therapeutics: An in silico modelling approach

    No full text
<p>Angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors have been acknowledged as first-line agents for the treatment of hypertension and a variety of cardiovascular disorders. In this context, quantitative structure–activity relationship (QSAR) models for a series of non-peptide compounds as ACE inhibitors are developed based on Simplified Molecular Input-Line Entry System (SMILES) notation and local graph invariants. Three random splits into the training and test sets are used. The Monte Carlo method is applied for model development. Molecular docking studies are used for the final assessment of the developed QSAR model and the design of novel inhibitors. The statistical quality of the developed model is good. Molecular fragments responsible for the increase/decrease of the studied activity are calculated. The computer-aided design of new compounds, as potential ACE inhibitors, is presented. The predictive potential of the applied approach is tested, and the robustness of the model is proven using different methods. The results obtained from molecular docking studies are in excellent correlation with the results from QSAR studies. The presented study may be useful in the search for novel cardiovascular therapeutics based on ACE inhibition.</p
