A growth walk model for estimating the canonical partition function of Interacting Self Avoiding Walk
We have explained in detail why the canonical partition function of
Interacting Self Avoiding Walk (ISAW), is exactly equivalent to the
configurational average of the weights associated with growth walks, such as
the Interacting Growth Walk (IGW), if the average is taken over the entire
genealogical tree of the walk. In this context, we have shown that it is not
always possible to factor the the density of states out of the canonical
partition function if the local growth rule is temperature-dependent. We have
presented Monte Carlo results for IGWs on a diamond lattice in order to
demonstrate that the actual set of IGW configurations available for study is
temperature-dependent even though the weighted averages lead to the expected
thermodynamic behavior of Interacting Self Avoiding Walk (ISAW).Comment: Revised version consisting of 12 pages (RevTeX manuscript, plus three

A total synthesis of the 'putative structure' 7, attributed to the novel triquinane sesquiterpene isolated recently from two Buddelia species has been accomplished. The spectral data for 7 is a complete mismatch with those reported for the natural product and warrants a revision of the assigned structure
SURGICAL MANAGEMENT OF FRACTURE BOTH BONES FOREARM WITH LOCKING COMPRESSION PLATE IN ADULT PATIENTS
Objective: The objective of this study was to assess the time taken for surgery, tourniquet time, and clinical outcome in diaphyseal fractures of both forearms managed with locking compression plate (LCP).
Methods: Patients underwent open reduction and internal fixation with 3.5-mm LCP. Proximal radius was approached by dorsal Thompson incision and middle and distal radius by volar henry approach. A minimum of 6 cortices were engaged with screw fixation in each fragment. Ulna was approached directly over the subcutaneous border.
Results: Of 20 patients, 70% were men; fracture was the most common in second and third decades of life. Road traffic accident (50%) and fall (40%) were the main causes. Fractures at mid-diaphysis (70%) and transverse/short oblique (72.5%) were the most common. Closed head injury, unilateral pubic bone fracture, olecranon fracture, fracture of both bones of leg, and ipsilateral fracture shaft humerus were the associated injuries. There was no intraoperative complication. Superficial infection (n=01) and transient posterior interosseous nerve injury, in the immediate postoperative period (n=01), were the reported complications. Average time for surgery was 77 min (60–90 min) and that for tourniquet was 54 min (40–60 min). All had complete union in <6 months; 80% had healing in <4 months. 20% healed in 4–6 months. Excellent and satisfactory results were seen in 85% and 15% patients, respectively.
Conclusion: The 3.5-mm LCP, when applied properly, yields excellent outcome in fractures of forearm bones. The use of tourniquet, separate incisions for radius and ulna, and preservation of the natural curves of radius will reduce complications. Clinical outcome in terms of healing and union is excellent

Effect of biovita granules and liquid on growth and yield of cotton (Gossypium hirsutum L.)
A study was conducted on effect of biovita granules and liquid on growth and yield of cotton during Kharif 2014 and 2015 in deep black soil at ARS, Dhadesugr, University of Agricultural Sciences, Raichur, Karnataka. Pooled data revealed that, cotton yield and green biomass yield were significantly (p=0.05) higher in the treatment with the application of biovita granule at 12.5 kg per hectare at one month after sowing followed by first spray of biovita liquid at 500 ml per hectare at square formation followed by second spray of biovita liquid at 750 ml per hectare at flowering and followed by third spray of biovita liquid at 750 ml per hectare at boll formation (1450 kg/ha and 1463 g/plant, respectively) and which was on par with the application of biovita granule at 10.0 kg per hectare at one month after sowing followed by first spray of biovita liquid at 500 ml per hectare at square formation followed by second spray of biovita liquid at 750 ml per hectare at flowering and followed by third spray of biovita liquid at 750 ml per hectare at boll formation (1377 kg/ha and 1439 g/plant, respectively). Whereas, application of only recommend-ed dose of fertilizer recorded significantly less cotton and green biomass yield compared to other treatments. The average per cent of increase in yield in biovita applied treatments (T1 to T8) over the no application of biovita treat-ment (T9) was 7.13 %
Prevalence of thyroid dysfunction and its association with controlled and uncontrolled type 2 diabetes mellitus in northern Andhra Pradesh population: a retrospective study
Background: The two important endocrinopathies, diabetes mellitus and thyroid dysfunction are interrelated to each other where the correlation is poorly understood. The thyroid dysfunction is more frequent in diabetics than general population. The present study was aimed to know the prevalence of thyroid dysfunction in type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and its association with controlled and uncontrolled T2DM.Methods: A retrospective study of 600 T2DM patients between 13-60 years of age with known thyroid status were included and the following parameters were examined: age, sex, body mass index (BMI), fasting blood sugar (FBS), HbA1C, free triiodothyronine (fT3), free tetraiodothyronine (fT4) and thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH).Results: The prevalence of thyroid dysfunction in T2DM patients was found to be 26.5% whereas 9% in healthy controls. Significantly elevated levels of FBS, HbA1C and TSH were observed whereas the levels of fT3, fT4 were found to be low in patients when compared to controls. Subclinical hypothyroidism (SCH) in diabetics (both controlled and uncontrolled) was more prevalent (15%) than it was found in healthy controls (5%). Similarly, overt hypothyroidism was also found to be high in diabetic patients (6%) as compared to healthy controls (2%). Significant difference (p <0.05) in the levels of TSH was found between group I (Controlled T2DM) and II (uncontrolled T2DM patients), also between groups II and III (Controls). Group II patients were found to have significant low levels of fT3 as compared to other two groups (Group I and III) (p<0.005).Conclusions: As SCH is more frequent in T2DM diabetes mellitus and untreated SCH patients have higher rate of complications, periodical screening is advised for thyroid dysfunction to prevent micro vascular and cardiovascular complications
Critical Crossover Between Yosida-Kondo Dominant Regime and Magnetic Frustration Dominant Regime in the System of a Magnetic Trimer on a Metal Surface
Quantum Monte Carlo simulations were carried out for the system of a magnetic
trimer on a metal surface. The magnetic trimer is arranged in two geometric
configurations, viz., isosceles and equilateral triangles. The calculated
spectral density and magnetic susceptibility show the existence of two phases:
Yosida-Kondo dominant phase and magnetic frustration dominant phase.
Furthermore, a critical transition between these two phases can be induced by
changing the configuration of the magnetic trimers from isosceles to

Kondo Effect in Fermi Systems with a Gap: A Renormalization Group Study
We present the results of a Wilson Renormalization Group study of the
single-impurity Kondo and Anderson models in a system with a gap in the
conduction electron spectrum. The behavior of the impurity susceptibility and
the zero-frequency response function, are discussed in the
cases with and without particle-hole symmetry. In addition, for the asymmetric

Small Energy Scale for Mixed-Valent Uranium Materials
We investigate a two-channel Anderson impurity model with a magnetic
and a quadrupolar ground doublet, and a excited triplet. Using
the numerical renormalization group method, we find a crossover to a non-Fermi
liquid state below a temperature varying as the triplet-doublet
splitting to the 7/2 power. To within numerical accuracy, the non-linear
magnetic susceptibility and the contribution to the linear
susceptibility are given by universal one-parameter scaling functions. These
results may explain UBe as mixed valent with a small crossover scale
