Estimating equilibrium real interest rates in real-time
We use a range of simple models and 22 years of real-time data vintages for the U.S. to assess the difficulties of estimating the equilibrium real interest rate in real time. Model specifications differ according to whether the time-varying equilibrium real rate is linked to trend growth, and whether potential output and growth are defined by the CBO?s estimates or treated as unobserved variables. Our results reveal a high degree of specification uncertainty, an important one-sided filtering problem, and considerable imprecision due to data uncertainty. Also, the link between trend growth and the equilibrium real rate is shown to be quite weak. Overall, we conclude that statistical estimates of the equilibrium real rate will be difficult to use reliably in practical policy applications. --real-time-data,time-varying parameter,Kalman filter, trend growth
Electronic structure and rovibrational predissociation of the 2sPi state in KLi
Adiabatic potential energy curves of the 3sSigma+, 3tSigma+, 2sPi and 2tPi
states correlating for large internuclear distance with the K(4s) + Li(2p)
atomic asymptote were calculated. Very good agreement between the calculated
and the experimental curve of the 2sPi state allowed for a reliable description
of the dissociation process through a small (20 cm-1 for J = 0) potential
energy barrier. The barrier supports several rovibrational quasi-bound states
and explicit time evolution of these states via the time-dependent nuclear
Schroedinger equation, showed that the state populations decay exponentially in
time. We were able to precisely describe the time-dependent dissociation
process of several rovibrational levels and found that our calculated spectrum
match very well with the assigned experimental spectrum. Moreover, our approach
is able to predict the positions of previously unassigned lines despite their
low intensit
Fertility Rates of Ewes Treated with Medroxyprogesterone and Injected with Equine Chorionic Gonadotropin plus Human Chorionic Gonadotropin in Anoestrous Season
The aim of the present paper was to investigate the efficiency of the equine chorionic gonadotropin (eCG) plus human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) associated with medroxyprogesterone acetate (MAP) to estrous ewes synchronization. Ninety Texel ewes were investigated during seasonal anoestrous. The ewes received intravaginal sponges containing MAP (60 mg) for nine days. At the time of sponges' withdrawal, the ewes were divided into three groups (G): (1) receiving 2 mL of saline i.m. (n = 30), (2) receiving eCG 400 IU i.m. (n = 30), and (3) receiving eCG 400 IU plus hCG 200 IU i.m. (n = 30). Twelve h after sponges' removal, teaser rams were used to estrus check and remained with the ewes for 96 h. The artificial insemination was made with fresh semen 10 h after estrus detection. The effect of the treatment was not significant for the estrous rates among the groups: 73%, 90%, and 86%, respectively. The main effect was observed in the pregnancy and lambing rates among the groups: 70%, 86%, 56%, and 80%, 120%, 56%, respectively. Based on these results from our study, the use of the MAP—eCG is the best choice to improve the fertility rate on ewes
citrato-gema (CG), TRIS-gema (TG) e leite desnatado UHT-gema (LG).
O peso do
O valor médio do diâmetro
equino.
Correlation between the neonatal weight of thoroughbred horses and the fetal aorta
measured by transabdominal ultrasound in the last 10 days before parturition
Abstract
In order to evaluate the fetal dimension and weight, 40 thoroughbred mares (n=40)
underwent transabdominal ultrasonography each 10-day intervals from 300 days of gestation
until parturition. The neonatal weight was measured by an equine ribbon and / or balance. The
mean fetal aortic diameter for all fetuses was 24.05 ± 1.86 mm, for male fetuses was 24.21 ±
1.98 mm and female was 23.79 ± 1.64 mm. The mean predict weight was 50.70 ± 5.53 kg, for
neonate 52.3 ± 6.31 kg (P< 0.05 a 5%). The mean predict weight for male fetuses was 51.19 ±
5.81 kg and for the neonates was 52.70 ± 6.45 kg; for female fetuses was 49.97 ± 4.79 kg and
for the neonates was 51.68 ± 5.81 kg (P< 0.05 at 5%). The mean predict weight for female
fetuses using the ribbon was 49.36 ± 4.36 kg, for the neonates was 51.50 ± 5.46 kg, and for male
fetuses the mean predict weight with ribbon was 49.78 ± 4.41 kg, for the neonates 51.64 ± 5.85
kg (P< 0.05 at 5%). The mean predict weight for female fetuses using the balance was 50.34 ±
5.00 kg, for neonates was 51.80 ± 6.01 kg, and for male fetuses the mean predict weight with
balance was 52.40 ± 6.53 kg, for neonates 53.62 ± 6.78 kg (P< 0.05 at 5%). The results suggest
that the predicted fetal weight did not correlate with the fetal aortic diameter
TOXICIDADE DO GOSSIPOL NA GESTAÇÃO E NA LACTAÇÃO DE RATAS (Rattus rattus norvegicus)
No desmame
gerados.
Gossypol toxicity in pregnant and nursing rats Rattus rattus norvegicus
Abstract
In order to study the effects of gossypol (C30H30O8) in pregnancy and lactation,
40 female rats (120 days old) weighing between 200 and 250 grams, were used in this
experiment. The animals were divided in four different group GI (n = 10), GII (n = 10), GIII (n
= 10) and GIV (n = 10). The daily oral dose administered by gavage to the animals of each
group was of 0, 20, 40 and 80 mg.kg-1 respectively of gossypol dissolved in canole oil. All
rats were weighed daily from the day of copulation (0 day) to the day of parturition, for
evaluation of the toxic effects during pregnancy. All rats and their offspring were weighed on
days 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18 and 21 (day of weaning) of lactation. At the day of weaning, all rats
were killed in order to observe the number of uterine implantation sites. Eight rats (1 from
GIII group and 7 from GIV) died during the period of drug administration besides the
occurrence of abortions and cannibalism at the parturition. Clinical symptoms of toxicity were
diarrhea, inappetency, bristly hair, tachypnea, loss of weight. Neither pup displayed either
macroscopic or morphological alterations. Heavy poisoning has been induced in rats that
received higher doses of gossypol acetate as well as a dose-dependent decrease in body weight gain in pregnant rats, lesser weight at birth and at weaning. Nevertheless, gossypol
did not interfere in the maintenance of pregnancy and in the number of pups born when
administered from day 5 through day 20 of pregnancy
