Development of a user-friendly interface for the creation of user elements
The solution of the basic equations relating stiffness, displacement and force in finite element analysis is not trivial, partially due to the large numbers of equations involved. Various techniques have been developed for this purpose and commercial finite element packages like Ansys resolve the equations and store the results quite efficiently and have large element libraries. If a particular element formulation is not found in the library of Ansys, the users can develop their own elements with the help of Fortran routines provided with Ansys. It should be emphasised that these routines are not at all user friendly and require considerable work every time a new type of element is needed.
This paper describes the development of a user friendly program by interfacing the mathematical package Mathematica with Ansys to make the user element capability more or less generalised, and more efficient

An Evaluative Study of Influence of Social Media on Journalism: Interference or Professional Advancement
Journalism is an established profession in the society across the globe. With the sudden increase in social media technologies in last few years, the nature of Journalism practice has been significantly influenced. Due to added value of social media traditional journalists have consciously embraced this technology for delivering and promoting their work. Enormous literature is available on impact of social media to journalism practices leading to various perspectives. Yet least qualitative studies are available on the perception of journalism practitioners on their professional interaction with social media. The study is an attempt in this direction to find out the professional impact of social media and the active role being played by the journalism practitioners to embrace the technology. It also attempts to find an answer to that whether the advancement of social media technologies in journalism practice is interference or professional advancement
Atomistically-informed discrete dislocation dynamics modeling of plastic flow in body-centered cubic metals
In this work, a computational framework for discrete dislocation dynamics simulations of bcc metals, which naturally accounts for non-Schmid effects on a/2 screw dislocation mobility based on atomistic simulation results, is developed. The model describes a physical basis to explain many experimental observations on bcc metals. The role of dislocation interactions towards plastic flow are studied. A new mechanism responsible for anomalous slip in micrometer sized W pillars is identified
Intelligent Tutoring Tools in a Computer Integrated Learning Environment for introductory numeric disciplines
Research in the field of Intelligent Tutoring Systems has failed to provide any substantial or viable systems that could be used in real academic environments. This situation appears to be the result of two factors: first, the failure to identify clearly the objectives and the scope of such systems; and second, the continuously shifting technological platform on which such systems are built. This paper examines the possible objectives for the development of tutoring systems and presents an approach adopted by the Byzantium project. It describes a model of computer integrated learning environment (CILE) and discusses the role of an intelligent tutoring tool (ITT) within this model. The paper also considers the potential of the Internet for various learning environments. Based on our experience of designing and implementing four ITTs that have the same look and feel (but which address diverse subject areas) the paper suggests a possible extension of the Byzantium approach to the Internet through the conversion of ITTs into intelligent tutoring applets (ITAs)
Mobile Technology in Facilitating Learning Goals
Mobile and wireless computing technologies have influenced how people interact with each other. For the first time, mobile technology and student lifestyle choices are converging to allow mobile learning (m-learning) to be a viable choice for delivery and execution of coursework material. This study looks at the current research on how asynchronous technology, such as discussion boards, can be enhanced by enabling students to interact with a mobile device. A synthesis of the literature is presented, analysing the issues that may impact on the success of this project and any limitations that may impact on the value of this application. This paper then discusses the advantages of enabling a discussion board with particular focus on whether enabling students to interact with a mobile device will increase the participation and success of discussion boards.UUNZ, New Zealand

Impact of Construction Productivity Attributes Over Construction Project Performance in Indian Construction Projects
Performance of a construction project could be influenced by a number of attributes, especially large and complex projects lay additional focus on the success / failure attributes, because of the intensive amount of money invested, a high degree of uncertainty, the complexity of personnel’s required, a multiplicity of goals and problems in coordination between different stakeholders encountered. In this research paper, the author intended to define and examine the relationship and impact of construction productivity (CP) over construction project performance (CPP). The author tests the proposition that there is a positive relationship/impact between both of them. And to test the effect of factors is affecting CP on CPP and to propose a conceptual model on the basis of the analysis. To validate the mathematical validity of factor analysis, Spearman correlation analysis has been performed on the factors. And to check the reliability of all the factors using reliability analysis, and finally test the hypothesis that construction productivity is having a positive impact on project performance using one sample t-test. The findings of the study concluded that there is a positive impact of construction productivity on project performance in Indian construction projects. This paper attempts to identify the relationship between CP and CPP and recommends the framework for the industry to grow sustainably and deliver projects successfully.
