Methods of calculation of magnetic fields and static characteristics of linear step motors for control rod drives of nuclear reactors
The performance of linear step motors (LSMs) which are being developed for control rod drives in nuclear reactors is governed by their static characteristics. The reliability of control rod drive mechanisms and the safety of the reactor depend on reliable performance of these motors. The authors describe methods of calculation of magnetic fields and static characteristics of LSMs. Two methods have been developed, approximate and accurate. The first method, less computationally intensive, could be used for small currents and weak iron saturation, while the second, based on accurate field modeling, takes into account saturation effects which considerably affect motor performance

Calculation of static characteristics of linear step motors for control rod drives of nuclear reactors-an approximate approach
This paper describes an approximate method for calculating the static characteristics of linear step motors (LSM), being developed for control rod drives (CRD) in large nuclear reactors. The static characteristic of such a LSM which is given by the variation of electromagnetic force with armature displacement determines the motor performance in its standing and dynamic modes. The approximate method of calculation of these characteristics is based on the permeance analysis method applied to the phase magnetic circuit of LSM. This is a simple, fast and efficient analytical approach which gives satisfactory results for small stator currents and weak iron saturation, typical to the standing mode of operation of LSM. The method is validated by comparing theoretical results with experimental ones

Results. We present a homogeneous study of model atmosphere temperature
structure, energy distribution, photometric indices in the uvbybeta and Delta_a
systems, hydrogen line profiles, and the abundance determination procedure as
it applies to CP stars. In particular, we found that Si, Cr and Fe are the main
elements to influence model atmospheres of CP stars, and thus to be considered
in order to assess the adequacy of model atmospheres with scaled solar
abundances in application to CP stars. We provide a theoretical explanation of
the robust property of the Delta_a photometric system to recognize CP stars
with peculiar Fe content. Also, the results of our numerical tests using model
atmospheres with one or several elements overabundant (Si and Fe by +1 dex, Cr
by +2 dex) suggest that the uncertainty of abundance analysis in the
atmospheres of CP stars using models with scaled abundances is less than
plus/minus 0.25 dex. If the same homogeneous models are used for the abundance
stratification analysis then we find that the uncertainty of the value of the
vertical abundance gradient is within an 0.4 dex error bar.
Conclusions. Model atmospheres with individual abundance patterns should be
used in order to match the actual anomalies of CP stars and minimize analysis

HEER: Hybrid Energy Efficient Reactive Protocol for Wireless Sensor Networks
Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) consist of numerous sensors which send sensed
data to base station. Energy conservation is an important issue for sensor
nodes as they have limited power.Many routing protocols have been proposed
earlier for energy efficiency of both homogeneous and heterogeneous
environments. We can prolong our stability and network lifetime by reducing our
energy consumption. In this research paper, we propose a protocol designed for
the characteristics of a reactive homogeneous WSNs, HEER (Hybrid Energy
Efficient Reactive) protocol. In HEER, Cluster Head(CH) selection is based on
the ratio of residual energy of node and average energy of network. Moreover,
to conserve more energy, we introduce Hard Threshold (HT) and Soft Threshold
(ST). Finally, simulations show that our protocol has not only prolonged the
