    Psychological Capital and Job Satisfaction of the Non Managerial Employees in the Banking Sector in Sri Lanka

    The traditional approaches once considered vital to employee satisfaction have proven insufficient to the competitive business world. The positive psychological capabilities have gained much attention in the recent past as a new approach to improve the job satisfaction of the employees. The purpose of this study was to examine the impact of psychological capital on job satisfaction of the non managerial employees in the banking sector in Sri Lanka. Data for the study was collected from 357 randomly selected non managerial employees from the banking sector in Sri Lanka using a structured questionnaire and correlation coefficient and regression were used for the data analysis. According to the data analysis, the psychological capital of the non managerial employees is positively and significantly correlated with their job satisfaction.     Organizational commitment of north central province English teachers and their task and contextual performance

    Teaching performance is among the most important issues in the education sector. A number of investigations have identified Organizational Commitment as a major influencing factor on Job Performance among the diverse spectrum of factors which may affect the performance. But relatively few researchers have examined the impact of Organizational Commitment on different dimensions of Job Performance. In reviewing the Sri Lankan research literature, there is no investigation which has focused on the relationship between Organizational Commitment and different dimensions of Job Performance in the context of schools and, in particular, teachers. The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between the Organizational Commitment of North Central Province Teachers of English in Sri Lanka and their Task Performance and Contextual Performance. A survey was conducted with the participation of 232 teachers of English from North Central Province. Two questionnaires were administered among the teachers of English and Principals of the schools. The level of Task Performance and Contextual Performance of English teachers was evaluated by the principals of their schools. The Organizational Commitment questionnaire was used to measure the level of Organizational Commitment of English Teachers. The collected data were analyzed using regression analysis and correlation coefficient The results of the study indicated that Organizational Commitment had significant positive relationship with Task Performance and Contextual Performance. It was recommended that Organizational Commitment of English Teachers should be enhanced to improve the Task Performance and Contextual Performance of the Teachers of English

    The relationship between Job Satisfaction and Job Performance has long been established. But, there are limited researches on Job Satisfaction and different dimensions of Job Performance. However, the extent of the association has not been investigated comprehensively in the context of the Sri Lankan banking sector. The purpose of this study was to investigate the impact of job satisfaction on Task Performance and Contextual Performance of non- managerial employees in the banking sector in Sri Lanka. The sample consisted of 400 non - managerial employees randomly selected from Systemically Important Banks. Two questionnaires were administered among the managers and non- managerial employees. The non - managerial employees' level of Task Performance and Contextual Performance was evaluated by the Bank Managers. The Job Satisfaction questionnaire was used to measure the level of Job Satisfaction of non - managerial employees. The collected data were analyzed using regression analysis and correlation coefficient. The results of the study indicated that Job Satisfaction had a significant positive relationship with Task Performance and Contextual Performance. It was recommended that Job Satisfaction of non managerial employees should be enhanced to improve the Task Performance and Contextual Performance of the non - managerial employees

    . Emotional Intelligence is regarded as a vitally important concept that leaders have to learn for the success of any organization. In reviewing the Sri Lankan research literature to find the ways to enhance the Job Satisfaction, the researcher could identify Emotional Intelligence of the managers as one of the most important but abandoned concept. The purpose of this study was to investigate the impact of Managers1 Emotional Intelligence on Non- Managerial Employees' Job Satisfaction in the banking sector in Sri Lanka. The sample consisted of 100 managers and 400 non - managerial employees randomly selected from Systemically Important Banks. Two questionnaires were administered among managers and non - managerial employees. Data collected were analyzed using regression analysis and correlation coefficient The results of the study indicated that Emotional Intelligence had a significant positive relationship with Job Satisfaction. The relationship between four elements of Emotional Intelligence and Job Satisfaction was further investigated. The data indicated that self management relationship management and social awareness were significantly and positively related to Job Satisfaction. No relationship was reported between self awareness and Job Satisfaction. It was recommended that Emotional Intelligence of the managers should be enhanced to improve the Job Satisfaction of the non - managerial employees

    The Impact of Psychological Capital on Job Performance: Development of a Conceptual Framework

    Job performance of the employees is one of the central constructs which plays a crucial role in achieving organizational performance. The concept of Psychological Capital (PsyCap) has given much attention in the recent past as a new approach to enhance the job performance of the employees. However, the extent of the impact between PsyCap and job performance has not been investigated in Sri Lankan context. On the other hand the work values and attitudes of Sri Lankan employees are different from other countries. They may affect on the relationship between PsyCap and job performance. Therefore, the purpose of this conceptual paper is to propose a conceptual model for empirically examination of the impact of PsyCap on job performance. Moreover, the effect of work values and attitudes on this relationship is examined by reviewing the relevant literature.
