Amavatha is a disease caused due to the vitiation or aggravation of Vayu associated with Ama. Vitiated Vayu circulates Ama all over the body through Dhamanies and takes shelter in Sleshmastana (Amasaya, Sandhi etc), producing symptoms such as stiffness, swelling and tenderness in small and big joints. The symptoms of Amavatha are identical to rheumatoid arthritis and in common clinical practices it can be observed that there will be raised ESR value in conditions like Rheumatoid arthritis due to chronic inflammation. As and when the inflammation aggravates due to Ama, the ESR value does not come to the normal level. Various drug trials were already carried out on Amavatha, yet there is a lacuna in the management of Amavatha. As Pachana is considered as the first and for most treatment of Amavatha. A research was conducted to find out the Amapachana property of Sunthichurna in raised ESR associated with Amavatha. 30 patients were randomly selected from the outpatient department of Dravyagunavijnana, Govt Ayurveda college, Thripunthura. 2gm of Sunthi churna in divided dose were given to the patients before food with luke warm water as Anupana for 30 days. The result showed significant decline in the severity of subjective symptoms like Angamarda (Pain on body parts), Aruchi (Anorexia), Alasya (Lethargy), Gourava (Heaviness), Apaka (Indigestion) and Sopha (Oedema) and there is a mild decrease in the value of ESR. The study revealed that the trial drug is effective in case of Amavatha

mall tourist firms occupy an important place within the Indian tourism industry and make a significant contribution towards gross domestic production. This study investigates access to and finance preferences of SME tourism firms in the Punjab area, India. The study employed a post-positivist research approach depending on semi-structured questionnaires and interviews. The findings confirmed that tourism firms relied on pecking order trajectory, drawing capital from own savings, family and informal lenders, which is consistent with the literature. The study provides a unique insight into issues related to tourism firms and benchmarks findings with SME literature to identify the salient points

Emerging frontiers in microbial-mediated utilization of crop residues for economically valuable biomaterials

    No full text
Agricultural crop residues include leftover and unmarketable materials, such as crop stover, weeds, leaf litter, sawdust, forest litter, and livestock manure originating from crop cultivation, and post-harvest activities. Such residues are a storehouse of plant nutrients and several other resources and therefore need to be managed in an environment- friendly manner with minimum loss of plant nutrients and other resources that can be recovered. Microbial starter consortia are a key component in the rapid recycling of farm residue wastes and the production of other valuable products, such as biogas, bioethanol/biofuel, enzymes, molecules, and metabolites. Recent advances in microbial biotechnology can also facilitate the conversion of farm residues into economically valuable materials, i.e. soil additives, adsorbents, energy, and enzymes, thereby contributing to a circular economy. This special issue attempts to compile the latest advancements in the field of agricultural crop residue management for enhanced nutrient recycling and resource recovery by the use of compost starters and inoculant formulations
