    Adopting an ethical approach to migration health policy, practice and research

    Migration health is affected by decision making at levels ranging from global to local, both within and beyond the health sector. These decisions impact seeking, entitlements, service delivery, policy making and knowledge production on migration health. It is key that ethical challenges faced by decision makers are recognised and addressed in research and data, clinical practice and policy making on migration health. An ethical approach can provide methods to identify ethical issues, frameworks for systematising information and suggesting ethically acceptable solutions, and guidance on procedural concerns and legitimate decision making processes. By unpacking dilemmas, conflicts of interests and values at stake, an ethical approach is relevant for all who make decisions about migration health policy and practice. Adopting an ethical approach to migration health benefits governments, organisations, policy makers, health workers, data managers, researchers and migrants themselves. First, it highlights the inherent normative questions and trade-offs at stake in migration health. Second, it assists decision makers in deciding what is the ethically justifiable thing to do through an ‘all things considered’ approach. Third, ethical frameworks and technical guidance set normative and practical standards for decision makers facing ethical questions – from ‘bedside rationing’ to collection of big data or in policy making – that can ensure that migrants’ interests are considered. Fourth, there is a need for greater transparency and accountability in decision making, as well as meaningful participation of migrant groups. An ethical approach connects to public health, economic and human rights arguments and highlights the urgent need to mainstream concerns for migrants in global and national health responses

    The potato is the most important tuber crop in the world, and it is grown in about 125 different nations. Potato is the crop that is most commonly consumed by a billion people worldwide, virtually every day, behind rice and wheat. However, a number of bacterial and fungal diseases are causing the potato crop's quality and yield to decline. Potato Leaf diseases must be promptly identified and prevented to increase production. Various researchers look for solutions to protect plants instead of   traditional processes which take more time. Recent technological developments have thrown up many alternates to traditional methods which are labour intensive. The application of AlexNet model Deep Convolutional Neural Network(CNN) to recognise diseases in potato plants avoids the disadvantages of selecting disease spot features artificially and makes more objective the plant disease feature extraction.     Objective: A precise, accurate, simple, and gradient reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) method was adapted for the determination of abacavir sulfate (ABV) in combination with lamivudine (LMV) having tablet formulations simultaneously. This method developed has been validated as per the guidelines of ICH. Method: Waters HPLC has been used in the method with a column named Zorbax C18 with the dimensions as 4.6 nm×150 mm, 3.5 μm. Phosphate buffer (PH - 3.9) was used as Eluent - A, Eluent - B was methanol, and water and methanol (50:50 v/v) were utilized as diluents. The rate of flow was 1.5 ml/min. Results: The wavelength of detection has been detected at about 270 nm. Linearity ranges of ABV and LMV were 88–266 μg/ml and 38–116 μg/ml, respectively. Retention times of ABV (3.66 min) and LMV (10.71 min) were determined. The values of the study of percentage recovery of ABV and LMV were determined to be within 98.3–99.2%. Conclusion: The estimation of ABV and LMV in all pharmaceutical dosage forms could be performed successfully by employing this method

    Variations in the esterase activity during the germination period of Jatropha curcas seeds

    Germination brings out the synthesis or activation of enzymes responsible for the degradation of seeds reserves. Among these enzymes, esterases are involved in the metabolic processes of germination and maturation of plants. They are constitutively expressed in seeds during germination to release the reserve materials for the growing embryo. In the present study, total protein content and esterase activity was monitored in germinating Jatropha curcas seeds. The esterase activity and specific activity observed were 9.07 µmoles/min/gm and 0.09258 IU/mg, respectively. Electophoretic analysis for esterase activity showed thirteen bands of esterases, among these 8 esterolytic bands were major and remaining were minor bands. The protein content and esterase activity decreased on 2nd, 4th, 5th and 8th day of seed germination and activity increased on 3rd, 6th, 7th day of germination. Similarly esterase activity increased on 7th day and decreased on 8, 9 and 10th day in the shoot tissue. ÂÂ
