Modelling and simulation on behaviours of mild steel

    Get PDF
The objective of the paper is to simulate the behaviours of mild steel at different strain rates (1-1500s-1) under tension and compression by using finite element analysis code in ANSYS. Numerical simulation are done using Cowper-Symonds (C-S) and Johnson-Cook (J-C) material models to represent the flow stresses of mild steel. The simulated results have good agreement with the predicted results of the above material models

Preemptive Routing & Intrusion Detection for MANETs

An ad-hoc network will often change rapidly in topology, this courses for routes in the network to often disappear and new to arise. The Ad-hoc On-Demand Distance Vector Routing Protocol(AODV), is based on the principle of discover routes as needed. In this paper we will extend the definition of AODV with the ability to discover multiple routes to a host and switch between them, if an active route is becoming weak and there is a risk that it will disappear. We will refer to it as pre-emptive AOMDV . We will show that the performance of pre-emptive AOMDV do handle changes in topology better than AODV it self. To show the effect of extending AODV, the suggested protocol is implemented in a simulator. Performance enhancements will be presented from different scenarios, to compare pre-emptive AOMDV with the ordinary AODV. In this paper we also focus on intrusion detection based on Finite State Machine and cache memory in ad hoc networks. Security is one of the most important issues in current networks. The most common cases of attacks in mobile Ad hoc networks can be drop of routing packets and changes in the incoming packets which aims at disrupting the network routing and overall network reduce performance. The presented approach based on FSM focuses at recognizing the malicious nodes within the network in a fast and accurate way, then it deals with rapid introduction of the malicious nodes to other nodes in the network to prevent sending multiple packets and drop and packet change. Finally, we will show the significant improvement in comparison with others, we simulated our methods by NS2 software

STUDIES ON GROUNDWATER QUALITY IN ANANTAPUR DISTRICT

ABSTRACT: Ground water is the main principal source for drinking water and other activities in Andhra Pradesh. It is the basic duty of every individual to conserve water resources. The present study attempts to bring an acute awareness among the people about the quality of ground water by taking water samples from 33 specific locations in Anantapur district to characterize the physicochemical parameters of Ground water. To assess the quality of groundwater, each parameter was compared with the standard desirable limit of that parameter in drinking water as prescribed by different agencies. This paper is a new study on water quality parameters in analyzing Anantapur district drinking water

Primary total knee replacement using dished polyethylene with resected posterior cruciate ligament

    Get PDF
Background: The choice between preserving, sacrificing or substituting the posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) is always a controversial topic in total knee replacement (TKR). Dished polyethylene insert with PCL resection enables correction of the commonly present fixed flexion and varus deformities. Additionally, the risk of premature wear of polyethylene is less because of the confirming articular geometry between the femoral and tibial component. Methods: This is a retrospective study in which we studied 120 knees in 95 consecutive patients undergoing primary TKR by the senior author at our institute. We used TKR system with dished metal backed polyethylene tibial component. PCL resection was performed in all cases. Pre-operative and post-operative functional assessment were done using knee society clinical scores and Western Ontario and McMaster universities osteoarthritis index (WOMAC). All radiographs were assessed using the knee society Roentgenographic scoring system (KSRES). Statistical analysis was performed using paired student t tests. Survivorship was determined using Kaplan-Meier survivorship curves. Results: Mean follow-up was 8 years. Range of motion increased from 75 degrees to 110 degrees.  The knee society pain score increased from 30 to 94. The knee society function score increased from 35 to 75. WOMAC score increased in terms of pain, stiffness and physical function. Conclusions: We conclude that deep dish bearing is a viable option in presence of deficient PCL and provides adequate stability and functional outcome. We need a larger sample size, multicentre trial and longer follow-up to see for complication rate, revision rate and survival

Acoustic Feedback Noise Cancellation in Hearing Aids Using Adaptive Filter

    Get PDF
To enhance speech intelligibility for people with hearing loss, hearing aids will amplify speech using gains derived from evidence-based prescriptive methods, in addition to other advanced signal processing mechanisms. While the evidence supports the use of hearing aid signal processing for speech intelligibility, these signal processing adjustments can also be detrimental to hearing aid sound quality, with poor hearing aid sound quality cited as a barrier to device adoption. In general, an uncontrolled environment may contain degradation components like background noise, speech from other speakers etc. along with required speech components. In this paper, we implement adaptive filtering design for acoustic feedback noise cancellation in hearing aids. The adaptive filter architecture has been designed using normalized least mean square algorithm. By using adaptive filters both filter input coefficients are changeable during run-time and reduce noise in hearing aids. The proposed design is implemented in matlab and the simulations shows that the proposed architecture produces good quality of speech, accuracy, maintain stable steady state. The proposed design is validated with parameters like Noise Distortion, Perceptual Evaluation of Speech Quality, Signal to Noise Ratio, and Speech Distortion. The feedback canceller is implemented in MATLAB 9.4 simulink version release name of R2018a is used for validation with Echo Return Loss Enhancement (ERLE). The ERLE of the NMLS is reduced when the filter order is increases. Around 10% of the power spectrum density (PSD) is less when compared with existing designs
