Absence of surface mode in a visco-elastic material with surface tension
The surface waves in the visco-elastic media with the surface tension are
studied using the Voigt-Kelvin model of the visco-elasticity. It is shown that
the surface mode of oscillation does not exist in the parameter region where
the effect of surface tension is larger than that of the elastic stress at the
surface unless the viscous stress masks the elastic stress in the bulk. In the
region, the surface oscillation is suppressed and the oscillation beneath the
surface diffuses after the pulse goes into the bulk. The experimental relevance
of the present results is also discussed.Comment: 5 pages, 3 figure
A Study Of The Development Of Non-Destructive
The replacement of human visual inspection for eggs with blood spots using transmitted light currently employed at grading and packing centers with a method using near infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) was studied. The determination is made using wavelength absorbance data since the hemoglobin in blood mixed in eggs with blood spots has an absorbance band of 540 to 575 nm. As a result, the normal egg discrimination rate was 100%, and the egg with blood spot discrimination rate was 83.0%. Then, PLS regression analysis was performed with a wavelength range of 503 to 598 nm as an explanatory variable. When predictions were made for unexamined specimens (100 normal eggs and 94 eggs with blood spots), the discrimination rate for normal eggs was 100%, and that for eggs with blood spots was 96.8%. The calibration model for eggs with blood spots had reproducible predictive power. The results further suggest that PLS regression analysis is an effective analytical tool in predicting eggs with blood spots using NIRS
