Wavelet analysis and scaling properties of time series
We propose a wavelet based method for the characterization of the scaling
behavior of non-stationary time series. It makes use of the built-in ability of
the wavelets for capturing the trends in a data set, in variable window sizes.
Discrete wavelets from the Daubechies family are used to illustrate the
efficacy of this procedure. After studying binomial multifractal time series
with the present and earlier approaches of detrending for comparison, we
analyze the time series of averaged spin density in the 2D Ising model at the
critical temperature, along with several experimental data sets possessing
multi-fractal behavior.Comment: 4 pages, 4 figures. Accepted for publication in PR
Characterizing Multi-Scale Self-Similar Behavior and Non-Statistical Properties of Financial Time Series
We make use of wavelet transform to study the multi-scale, self similar
behavior and deviations thereof, in the stock prices of large companies,
belonging to different economic sectors. The stock market returns exhibit
multi-fractal characteristics, with some of the companies showing deviations at
small and large scales. The fact that, the wavelets belonging to the
Daubechies' (Db) basis enables one to isolate local polynomial trends of
different degrees, plays the key role in isolating fluctuations at different
scales. One of the primary motivations of this work is to study the emergence
of the behavior \cite{hes5} of the fluctuations starting with high
frequency fluctuations. We make use of Db4 and Db6 basis sets to respectively
isolate local linear and quadratic trends at different scales in order to study
the statistical characteristics of these financial time series. The
fluctuations reveal fat tail non-Gaussian behavior, unstable periodic
modulations, at finer scales, from which the characteristic power law
behavior emerges at sufficiently large scales. We further identify stable
periodic behavior through the continuous Morlet wavelet.Comment: 11 pages, 8 figures, bibliography updated, conclusion added, minor

Cluster Radioactivity in 127I
Using the preformation cluster model of Gupta and collaborators we have studied all the possible cluster decay modes of 127 I. The calculated half-lives are compared with recently measured lower limits of cluster decay half-lives (for the clusters like 24Ne, 28Mg, 30Mg, 32Si, 34Si, 48Ca and 49Sc) of 127I. Our calculated half-life values lies well above the experimentally measured lower limits and the trend of the values also matches with experimental ones
Tholkappiyar's Latent Theory and Eighteen Lesser Texts
The Tamil language is divided into two dialects, the world dialect and the poetic dialect. All the words in this language have meanings. The subject will be explicit and specific. A series is made up of words. The phrase does not stand at its own point but expresses a different meaning. There is a lot of positive meaning in this way. They are referential interpretation in fewer places. Words and phrases convey meaning both at the internal and external levels. When it expresses external views, it is called referential and referential. In the case of the subject, the object of reference is indicated by two technical terms, latent and meat. Both are specific to internal songs. Scholars interpret these by citing the internal poems of the Sangam literature. Like the Sangam literature, the internal literature of the post-Sangam period occupies a special place. They are based on Kurinji and other tinais. This article is intended to examine the meaning of the poems from the point of view of the latent theories of Tolkappiar
