    The effectiveness of the main antiresorptive agents was assessed for the treatment of glucocorticoid-induced osteoporosis in patients with severe asthma. Alfacalcidol plus calcium, but not calcium alone, was effective in patients with osteopenia. Combined therapy (calcium, alfacalcidol, calcitonin, anabolic hormone) not only prevented bone loss but had a positive effect on the bone mineral density, relieved the pain, increased the physical activity in patients with severe osteoporosis.Оценена эффективность применения основных антирезорбтивных препаратов для лечения глюкокортикоидиндуцированного остеопороза у больных тяжелой астмой. Сочетание альфакальцидола с препаратами кальция, но не монотерапия кальцием, было эффективно у больных с остеопенией. Комбинированная терапия (препараты кальция, альфакальцидол, кальцитонин, анаболические гормоны) не только предотвращала дальнейшую потерю костной ткани, но и способствовала увеличению костной минеральной плотности, облегчала боль и способствовала повышению физической активности у больных с тяжелым остеопорозом

    Prevention and treatment of purulent inflammatory complications after surgical treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia

    520 patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia were under medical observation. In the main group (260 patients) the extrauterina adenomectomy was conducted with a semi-cylindrical scalpel to preserve the prostatic part of urethra and using antibiotics, which were injected into the location of adenoma through ductus deferens, in postoperative period. The preservation of prostatic urethra provide less hemorrhage and reduction of possible complications of surgical treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPM).ln control group (260 patients) traditional treatment – adenomectomy of Fedorov-Freyer was conducted. In the main group the stricture of the urethra was developed in 8 (3.1%) patients, the bladder neck sclerosis was developed in 4 (1,5%) patients, the enuresis was developed in 3 (1,1%) patients. In control group the stricture of the urethra was revealed in 15 (5,76%) patients, the enuresis was revealed in 11 (4,23%) patients, the bladder neck sclerosis was revealed in 18 (6,92%) patients.Под наблюдением находилось 520 больных с аденомой простаты. В основной группе (260 пациентов) проведена экстрауретральная аденомзктомия, выполненная полуцилиндрическим скальпелем с сохранением простатического отдела уретры и применением в послеоперационном периоде антибиотиков, введенных в ложе аденомы через ductus defferens. Сохранение простатической уретры обеспечивает меньшую кровоточивость и снижение количества возможных осложнений хирургического лечения аденомы предстательной железы (АПЖ). Контрольной группе (260 больных) проводилось традиционное лечение - аденомзктомия по Федорову-Фрейеру. У больных основной группы стриктура уретры развилась у 8 (3,1%) пациентов, склероз шейки мочевого пузыря у 4-х (1,5%), недержание мочи у 3-х (1,1%). В контрольной группе были выявлены у 15 (5,76%) пациентов стриктура уретры, недержание мочи у 11 (4,23%) склероз шейки мочевого пузыря 18 (6,92%)

    Electronic properties and phase transitions in low-dimensional semiconductors

    We present the first review of the current state of the literature on electronic properties and phase transitions in TlX and TlMX2 (M = Ga, In; X = Se, S, Te) compounds. These chalcogenides belong to a family of the low-dimensional semiconductors possessing chain or layered structure. They are of significant interest because of their highly anisotropic properties, semi- and photoconductivity, non-linear effects in their I-V characteristics (including a region of negative differential resistance), switching and memory effects, second harmonic optical generation, relaxor behavior and potential applications for optoelectronic devices. We review the crystal structure of TlX and TlMX2 compounds, their transport properties under ambient conditions, experimental and theoretical studies of the electronic structure, transport properties and semiconductor-metal phase transitions under high pressure, and sequences of temperature-induced structural phase transitions with intermediate incommensurate states. Electronic nature of the ferroelectric phase transitions in the above-mentioned compounds, as well as relaxor behavior, nanodomains and possible occurrence of quantum dots in doped and irradiated crystals is discussed.Comment: 70 pages, 38 figure
