Comparative Analysis of Transcription Start Sites Using Mutual Information

    Get PDF
The transcription start site (TSS) region shows greater variability compared with other promoter elements. We are interested to search for its variability by using information content as a measure. We note in this study that the variability is significant in the block of 5 nucleotides (nt) surrounding the TSS region compared with the block of 15 nt. This suggests that the actual region that may be involved is in the range of 5–10 nt in size. For Escherichia coli, we note that the information content from dinucleotide substitution matrices clearly shows a better discrimination, suggesting the presence of some correlations. However, for human this effect is much less, and for mouse it is practically absent. We can conclude that the presence of short-range correlations within the TSS region is species-dependent and is not universal. We further observe that there are other variable regions in the mitochondrial control element apart from TSS. It is also noted that effective comparisons can only be made on blocks, while single nucleotide comparisons do not give us any detectable signals

Content Based Image Retrieval Using SVM Algorithm

Conventional content-based image retrieval (CBIR) schemes employing relevance feedback may suffer from some problems in the practical applications. First, most ordinary users would like to complete their search in a single interaction especially on the web. Second, it is time consuming and difficult to label a lot of negative examples with sufficient variety. Third, ordinary users may introduce some noisy examples into the query. This correspondence explores solutions to a new issue that image retrieval using unclean positive examples. In the proposed scheme, multiple feature distances are combined to obtain image similarity using classification technology. To handle the noisy positive examples, a new two step strategy is proposed by incorporating the methods of data cleaning and noise tolerant classifier. The extensive experiments carried out on two different real image collections validate the effectiveness of the proposed scheme

Background: In adults, distal humerus fractures are uncommon and intra-articular, oftenly involve both the medial and lateral columns. Open reduction and surgical fixation with plating gives good results. The aim of this study is to evaluate clinical outcome in intra articular distal humerus fractures treated with dual plating. Methods: This is a prospective type of study of 20 cases of supra condylar fracture humerus with inter condylar extension treated surgically with dual plating one on the medial boarder and another on posterior surface of lateral column using standard dorsal approach, olecranon osteotomy. Results: The range of age was between 18-52 years, with mean age of 32.55 years. The maximum incidence was between 18 to 40 years i.e. 16 cases (80%). With road traffic accident (RTA) as major cause of injury. Most   of the patients were males 14 (70%) with right upper limb was involved in 12 (60%) cases. According   to MEP score clinical outcome was excellent in 4(20%) good in 10(50%) fair in 5(25%) and poor in one (10%).Conclusions: Distal humerus fractures are known for their complex nature and technical difficult in surgical management. Proper anatomical articular reconstruction and stable fixation helps in restoring painless and functional elbow

SEGMENTATION OF HUMAN BODIES BASED ON ZERO SALIENCY DETECTION

    Get PDF
The paper presents the segmentation of human bodies based on zero saliency detection.  The zero salience detection is used to identify the informative of the image.  The proposed method is to extract the salient objects and background regions of the image. In the past decade, we apply labeling to the image, to get the background cues as a background region and foreground as a salience objects.  But labeling method is not efficient to get results accurately. The salience detection method follows two steps to extract the background and foreground regions accurately. The experimental results show that the salience detection method performs well compare to existing methods in terms of accuracy, speed and object detection

Properties of cellulose/Thespesia Lampas short fibers bio-composite films

Abstract: Cellulose was dissolved in pre cooled environment friendly solvent (aq.7% sodium hydroxide+12% urea) and regenerated with 5%H2SO4 as coagulation bath. Using cellulose as matrix and alkali treated short natural fibers extracted from the newly identified Thespesia Lampas plant as reinforcement, the green composite films were prepared. The effect of fiber loading on the tensile properties and thermal stability was studied. The fractographs indicated better interfacial bonding between the fibers and cellulose. The crystallinity of the composite films was found to be lower than the matrix and decreased with increasing fiber content. In spite of better interfacial bonding, the tensile properties of the composites were found to be lower than those of the matrix and decreased with increasing fiber content and this behavior was attributed to the random orientation of the fibers in the composites. The thermal stability of the composite films was higher than the matrix and increased with fiber content

Extraction and characterization of novel lignocellulosic fibers from Thespesia lampas plant

    Get PDF
In this work, the lignocellulosic fibers from the plant Thespesia lampas were extracted and investigated in detail. The prime objective of this work was to study the effect of alkali treatment on the chemical composition, tensile properties, morphological and structural changes, and thermal degradation of Thespesia lampas fibers. Chemical analysis, FT-IR, and 13C CP-MAS NMR spectroscopic studies indicated lowering of amorphous hemicellulose content on alkali treatment. Wide-angle X-ray diffraction studies indicated increase in crystallinity of the fibers on alkali treatment. The tensile strength and modulus of the fibers and thermal stability increased on alkali treatment. Scanning electron micrographs revealed roughening of the surface of the fibers due to the removal of the hemicellulose layer on alkali treatment. Tensile properties of Thespesia fibers were compared to those of other important natural fibers, and it was indicated as an alternative suitable source for composite construction

The new idea suggestion framework is applying in numerous applications.in this task investigate the online travel data of visitors to give customized travel bundle. Be that as it may, conventional suggestion framework cannot giving better travel bundle to sightseers from different geo-realistic areas. Numerous specialized difficulties are accessible for planning and execution of proficient travel bundle suggestion framework. Proposing another model named as traveller region season point model alongside Latent Dirichlet Allocation algorithm which extricates the elements like areas, travel seasons of different scenes. Presenting cocktail approach for better customized travel bundle proposal. Further Extending TAST model with the vacationer connection territory season subject model incorporates relationship among the visitors. In the long run our proposed methodology is effective to give better bundle suggestion for travellers
