Intermediate schoolchildren’s optimism expression in the classes of physical training
The paper strives to answer the question what is optimism expression among students of middle school age in physical education classes. The following hypothesis was tested: optimism expression of boys would be higher than those of girls. The aim of this study was to examine the optimism expression among students of middle school age during physical education lessons. The participants of the study were 236 students of middle school age (14–15 years old). The measure of optimism expression was evaluated using Dember’s Optimism/Pessimism Scale (Cronbach’s alpha was 0.79 for optimism scale). Respondents were given 56 items, which had to be evaluated on a 4-point Likert scale. The hypothesis, that optimism expression of boys would be higher than those of girls was confirmed. During the lessons of physical education the optimism expression among males students of middle school age were higher than among female. Evaluating the optimism expression among students of middle school age it was found that middle school-aged students (boys, girls) who attend physical education lessons are more optimistic. Education of social skills among senior high school age students in physical education classes
Research aim was to reveal peculiarities of the education of social skills among senior high school age students in physical education classes. We hypothesized that after the end of the educational experiment the senior high school age students will have more developed social skills in physical education classes. Participants in the study were 51 pupils of the ninth grade (15.15 ± 0.36). Experimental group consisted of 25 and the control group of 26 senior high school age students. Bulotaite and Gudzinskiene communication skills questionnaire; Social Skills Rating System (Student form); Snaider’s social self-control evaluation methods and Legkauskas subjective social adaptation scale were used. Repeated measures (RM) multivariate analysis of variance (2 × 2 (Group × Time) MANOVA) was used in order to analyse the effects of the educational program. During the experiment the applied measures of educational impact had a statistically significant effect on the components of experimental group senior high school age students’ communication, cooperation, assertiveness and social adaptation skills in physical education classes

Emotional skills among senior high school age students in physical education classes
The aim of this study was to analyse and compare the peculiarities of emotional skills among senior high school age students in physical education classes because the significance of emotional intelligence for students is a subject of continuous scientific discussions. The independent random sample consisted of 212 (15 – 16 years old) students and 189 (17 – 18 years old) students, of which there were 198 boys and 203 girls. Schutte Self-Report Inventory (SSRI) was employed. This instrument divides emotional skills into four separate components, namely: ability to use personal positive emotional experience, ability to assess and express emotions, ability to understand and analyse emotions and ability to manage emotions. It was found that 17 – 18 years old students have better ability to use own positive emotional experience than those of 15 – 16 years old and girls have better ability to understand and analyse emotions in physical education classes than boys
