Policy Reform and Off-farm Labor Supply by Operators in the Delta Region: A
Off-farm employment has been an integral part of the emerging structure of production agriculture in the South. Government farm program payments, farm structure, and strong non-farm economy have important impact on labor allocation, farm and non-farm labor, decision of farm operators. The objective of this investigation was to evaluate the determinants of off-farm labor supply for farm operators in the Delta States. Results show that off-farm work, educational level, presence of teenager, and farm tenure positive and significant impact on ff-farm labor supply by farm operators. On the other hand, farm size, household wealth, decoupled and couple farm program payments, and degree of farm diversification have a negative and significant impact on off-farm labor supply by farm operators. the semiparametreic functional formulation of the farm size and household wealth variables were found to perform better than the linear functional form.Off-farm labor supply, Delta region, Tobit, semiparametric, government farm program payments, education, Farm Management, Labor and Human Capital,

In this paper, we report results of the first studies on the thermoelectric
power (TEP) of the magnetic heusler alloy NiMnGa. We explain
the observed temperature dependence of the TEP in terms of the crystal field
(CF) splitting and compare the observed behavior to that of the stoichiometric
system NiMnGa. The resistivity as a function of temperature of the two
systems serves to define the structural transition temperature, T, which is
the transition from the high temperature austenitic phase to low temperatures
the martensitic phase. Occurrence of magnetic (Curie-Weiss) and the martensitic
transition at almost the same temperature in NiMnGa has been
explained from TEP to be due to changes in the density of states (DOS) at the

A THEORETICAL DEVELOPMENT AND EMPIRICAL TEST ON THE CONVERGENCE OF AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTIVITY IN THE USA
This study explores the evidence of convergence in the U.S agriculture sector by using the state level total factor productivity (TFP) data. The empirical investigation conducted in this study does not find any evidence of convergence while looking at the state level TFP. However, there seems to be some support for convergence at the regional level. Why Don't Farmers Adopt Precision Farming Technologies in Cotton Production?
We used the 2009 Southern Cotton Precision Farming Survey data collected from farmers in twelve U.S. states (Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Missouri, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and Virginia) to understand why farmers do not adopt seemingly profitable precision farming technology. Farmers provided cost, time constraint, satisfaction with the current practice and other as reasons for not adopting precision farming technology. EXAMINING THE CRB INDEX AS AN INDICATOR FOR U.S. INFLATION
This paper analyzes historical movements in the commodity futures market and the relationship to inflation. Specifically, the relationship between the Commodity Research Bureau (CRB) Index and United States inflation is investigated. It is said that the relationship between the CRB index and the U.S. inflation rate was greater in the some periods than in another period. Then in recent times the CRB Index has proven to be a reliable early indicator of inflation. Generation of frequency sidebands on single photons with indistinguishability from quantum dots
Generation and manipulation of the quantum state of a single photon is at the
heart of many quantum information protocols. There has been growing interest in
using phase modulators as quantum optics devices that preserve coherence. In
this Letter, we have used an electro-optic phase modulator to shape the state
vector of single photons emitted by a quantum dot to generate new frequency
components (modes) and explicitly demonstrate that the phase modulation process
agrees with the theoretical prediction at a single photon level. Through
two-photon interference measurements we show that for an output consisting of
three modes (the original mode and two sidebands), the indistinguishability of
the mode engineered photon, measured through the secondorder intensity
correlation (g2(0)) is preserved. This work demonstrates a robust means to
generate a photonic qubit or more complex state (e.g., a qutrit) for quantum
communication applications by encoding information in the sidebands without the
loss of coherence
On the Road to Sustainability? A Review of a Half-Century of Biodiversity Conservation Successes in Nepal and Some Thoughts on Future Needs
We review the history, over the past half-century, of biodiversity conservation legislation and programs in Nepal. We especially consider how they have evolved in light of some earlier concerns resulting from, for example, the strict “fines and fences” conservation approaches first implemented in the 1970s, to pressing issues that emerged over time such as park-people and wildlife-human conflicts, poaching and illegal wildlife trade. We also consider how the implementation of international conservation agreements and demographic and political changes have affected conservation programs in Nepal. We finish by discussing conservation in the context of sustainable development and conclude with some thoughts on future research and managerial needs in a rapidly-changing world
Long-range electronic reconstruction to a -dominated Fermi surface below the LaAlO/SrTiO interface
Low dimensionality, broken symmetry and easily-modulated carrier
concentrations provoke novel electronic phase emergence at oxide interfaces.
However, the spatial extent of such reconstructions - i.e. the interfacial
"depth" - remains unclear. Examining LaAlO/SrTiO heterostructures at
previously unexplored carrier densities cm,
we observe a Shubnikov-de Haas effect for small in-plane fields, characteristic
of an anisotropic 3D Fermi surface with preferential orbital
occupancy extending over at least 100~nm perpendicular to the interface.
Quantum oscillations from the 3D Fermi surface of bulk doped SrTiO emerge
simultaneously at higher . We distinguish three areas in doped
perovskite heterostructures: narrow ( nm) 2D interfaces housing
superconductivity and/or other emergent phases, electronically isotropic
regions far ( nm) from the interface and new intermediate zones where
interfacial proximity renormalises the electronic structure relative to the
