This study analyzes the rugae pattern in dentulous and edentulous patients and also evaluates the association of rugae pattern between males and females. Aims and Objectives. This study aims to investigate rugae patterns in dentulous and edentulous patients of both sexes in South Indian population and to find whether palatoscopy is a useful tool in human identification. Materials and Methods. Four hundred outpatients from Sree Balaji Dental College and Hospital, Chennai, were included in the study. The study group was equally divided between the sexes, which was further categorized into 100 dentulous and edentulous patients, respectively. Results. The edentulous male showed the highest mean of wavy pattern and total absence of circular pattern while the edentulous female group showed the highest mean of curved pattern and total absence of nonspecific pattern, while dentate population showed similar value as that of the overall population such as straight, wavy, and curved patterns. Conclusion. The present study concludes that there is similar rugae pattern of distribution between male and female dentate population while there is varied pattern between the sexes of edentulous population. However, the most predominant patterns were straight, wavy, and circular patterns

AN INVESTIGATION OF SECURITY TECHNIQUES FOR CONCEALED DDOS EXPOSURE ATTACKS

Due to the influence of the multi-level system, the DDoS became a significant investigation in modern days. This encourages us to reduce the data loss and service overheads. In order to investigate these issues, an investigation of the DDoS attack and their related security techniques were analyzed in this paper. So, in this investigation, various data about the intruders will be collected by employing a secured multi-layered design with nomadic honeypots. Our proposed Subterranean Optimization procedure is utilized to distinguish the gatecrashers in view of the pheromone store on that considered zone. A multi-degree IP log table is utilized to distinguish the gatecrashers at diverse ranges of the device. Once the prompted range is found, the information is sent to multi-degree engineering to restrain the spreading of the stimulated region within the honeypot. This statistics will be dispatched to the honeypot to make a guard framework towards the attackers. The advantage of this proposed strategy is that it gives a complete barrier against DDoS at multilevel without making any overhead

    Ameloblastoma

Ameloblastoma is a benign odontogenic tumor generally present in the jaw bone. The tumor originates from the residual epithelium of the tooth germ, epithelium of odontogenic cysts stratified squamous epithelium and epithelium of the enamel organ. It represents approximately 1% of oral tumors. About 80% of ameloblastomas occur in the mandible mainly the third molar region and the remaining 20% in the upper jaw. Ameloblastoma clinically appears as an aggressive odontogenic tumor, often asymptomatic and slow-growing, with no evidence of swelling. This article deals with a complete review on ameloblastoma

    DNA adducts-chemical addons

    No full text
DNA adduct is a piece of DNA covalently bond to a chemical (safrole, benzopyrenediol epoxide, acetaldehyde). This process could be the start of a cancerous cell. When a chemical binds to DNA, it gets damaged resulting in abnormal replication. This could be the start of a mutation and without proper DNA repair, this can lead to cancer. It is this chemical that binds with the DNA is our prime area of concern. Instead of performing the whole body analysis for diagnosing cancer, this test could be carried out for early detection of cancer. When scanning tunneling microscope is used, the DNA results can be obtained earlier. DNA adducts in scientific experiments are used as biomarkers

Influence of the oxide supports on ammonia synthesis activity of unpromoted ruthenium catalysts

    Get PDF
383-386Supported ruthenium (Ru) catalysts with Ru loading of 3.5% by weight have been prepared by the incipient impregnation method using MgO, γ-Al2O3 and ZrO2 as supports. After complete reduction, irreversible hydrogen chemisorption has been measured on these catalysts at 25°C and as atmospheric pressure. Ammonia synthesis activities of these catalysts have been evaluated in a microflow reactor at 400°C under atmospheric pressure. It is found that Ru dispersion and metal area change in the order Ru/γ - Al2O3 > Ru/ZrO2 > Ru/MgO. The ammonia synthesis activity per gram of the catalyst and the turnover frequency change in the decreasing order: Ru/MgO > Ru/γ -Al2O3≥ Ru/ZrO2. The activity of Ru/MgO is found to be five-times higher than the activities of the other two catalysts. The rate of ammonia synthesis is observed to increase with time on Ru/MgO while it remains steady on Ru/γ -Al2O3 and Ru/ZrO2 catalysts. The exceptional behaviour of Ru/MgO is explained in terms of pronounced electron donation by MgO to ruthenium and in terms of possible changes in the crystallographic planes of ruthenium under the influence of nitrogen and ammonia under synthesis conditions

Benign Tumours Of Salivary Gland-A Review

    No full text
Tumours of salivary gland are a heterogeneous group of lesions arising from major or minor salivary glands. They were classified as benign and malignant. There was a female preponderance [1.16:1.0] for the benign tumors and a male preponderance [1.32:1.0] for the malignant tumors. Pleomorphic adenoma (69%) was the most common tumor and 20% were located in minor glands. Malignant tumors were predominantly mucoepidermoid carcinoma (30%) and adenoid cystic carcinoma (30%). Treatment starts with an appropriate diagnosis including histopathological evaluation, immunohistochemistry and imaging techniques. Benign tumors require careful excision as they are encapsulated and residual tissue after surgery can increase the risk of tumor recurrence. Minor salivary gland lesions have a good prognosis and can be treated safely by conservative local excision.&nbsp

    Oral lichen planus: An overview

    No full text
Lichen planus is an immunologically mediated mucocutaneous disease that is triggered by varied etiological agents. The oral lichenoid reaction is considered a variant of the disease that needs to be clearly diagnosed as a separate entity from oral lichen planus and treated. They follow a strict cause-effector relationship, protocols that suggest the differentiation. Lichen planus has varied clinical forms in the oral mucosa and cutaneously that has different prognosis. This condition also arises in association with various other systemic conditions such as hypertension, diabetes mellitus. There have been cases reported in the esophagus, larynx, scalp, nail, cutaneous areas, especially arms and wrists, trunk. There is reported malignant transformation that essentiates careful examination, treatment protocol and regular follow-up sessions. This article throws light on the disease condition of oral lichen planus and oral lichenoid reaction that is essential for the differentiation and treatment

    No full text
Aim: The aim of this work was to determine the frequency of oral changes in diabetic patients and to study the relationship between periodontal disease and diabetes mellitus. Materials and Methods: The study sample consisted of 440 known diabetic patients between the age group of 20–80 years, of which 212 were males and 228 were females. One hundred and six patients were below 40 years, 138 patients between 41 and 50 years, 97 in 51–60 years, and 99 above 60 years of age. Data were statistically analyzed by Student's t-test. Results: Nearly 57% of the patients showed a Russell's Periodontal Index score of 2–4.9, which suggested an established periodontal disease. Risk factors for the people above the age of 40 years to develop diabetes were 76%. Conclusion: The frequency of oral manifestations in diabetic patients was significantly high, hence showing a relationship of gingival and periodontal diseases with diabetes mellitus
