Surgical difficulties for Total Knee Replacement in Stickler syndrome: A case report

    Get PDF
Stickler syndrome is believed to be the most common connective tissue disorder in Europe and the USA. Severe osteoarthritis sets in at very early age in 3rd to 4th decade of life necessitating joint arthroplasty. This case report highlights the intraoperative surgical difficulties faced by the surgeon and the planning needed for the operation

A computational analysis of lower bounds for big bucket production planning problems

    Get PDF
In this paper, we analyze a variety of approaches to obtain lower bounds for multi-level production planning problems with big bucket capacities, i.e., problems in which multiple items compete for the same resources. We give an extensive survey of both known and new methods, and also establish relationships between some of these methods that, to our knowledge, have not been presented before. As will be highlighted, understanding the substructures of difficult problems provide crucial insights on why these problems are hard to solve, and this is addressed by a thorough analysis in the paper. We conclude with computational results on a variety of widely used test sets, and a discussion of future research

An experimental study of the dipole moment of poly(dimethylsiloxane)

    No full text
The mean-square dipole moments of poly(dimethylsiloxane) chains have been determined from dielectric constant measurements on dilute solutions of the polymer in toluene and carbon tetrachloride at temperatures in the range 10–60°C. The temperature coefficient of the dipole moment ratio in toluene was found to be positive, qualitatively in agreement with the prediction of rotational isomeric state theory. The values of the mean-square dipole moment in carbon tetrachloride are higher than in toluene indicating the existence of a specific solvent effect.Publisher's Versio
