    Experimental measurements of bulk modulus for two types of hydraulic oil at pressures to 140MPa and temperatures to 180°C

    Bulk modulus of hydraulic oil represents the resistance of hydraulic oil to compression and is the reciprocal of compressibility. The bulk modulus is a basic thermodynamic property of hydraulic oil that has a very important influence on work efficiency and dynamic characteristics of hydraulic systems, especially for the hydraulic systems at ultra-high pressure or ultra-high temperature. In this study, a bulk modulus experimental equipment for hydraulic oil was designed and manufactured, two types of hydraulic oil were selected and its isothermal secant bulk modulus were measured at pressures to 140MPa and temperatures of 20~180°C. Compared the experimental results with the calculated results from the prediction equations of liquid bulk modulus that proposed by Klaus, Hayward, and Song, it is found that the experimental results are not completely identical with the calculated results

    Estimation of Dry Matter and N Nutrient Status of Choy Sum by Analyzing Canopy Images and Plant Height Information

    The estimation accuracy of plant dry matter by spectra- or remote sensing-based methods tends to decline when canopy coverage approaches closure; this is known as the saturation problem. This study aimed to enhance the estimation accuracy of plant dry matter and subsequently use the critical nitrogen dilution curve (CNDC) to diagnose N in Choy Sum by analyzing the combined information of canopy imaging and plant height. A three-year experiment with different N levels (0, 25, 50, 100, 150, and 200 kg center dot ha(-1)) was conducted on Choy Sum. Variables of canopy coverage (CC) and plant height were used to build the dry matter and N estimation model. The results showed that the yields of N-0 and N-25 were significantly lower than those of high-N treatments (N-50, N-100, N-150, and N-200) for all three years. The variables of CC x Height had a significant linear relationship with dry matter, with R-2 values above 0.87. The good performance of the CC x Height-based model implied that the saturation problem of dry matter prediction was well-addressed. By contrast, the relationship between dry matter and CC was best fitted by an exponential function. CNDC models built based on CC x Height information could satisfactorily differentiate groups of N deficiency and N abundance treatments, implying their feasibility in diagnosing N status. N application rates of 50-100 kgN/ha are recommended as optimal for a good yield of Choy Sum production in the study region

    Randomized Clinical Trial Comparing Basal Insulin Peglispro and Insulin Glargine in Patients With Type 2 Diabetes Previously Treated With Basal Insulin: IMAGINE 5

    OBJECTIVE To evaluate the efficacy and safety of basal insulin peglispro (BIL) versus insulin glargine in patients with type 2 diabetes (hemoglobin A1c [HbA1c] ≤9% [75 mmol/mol]) treated with basal insulin alone or with three or fewer oral antihyperglycemic medications. RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODS This 52-week, open-label, treat-to-target study randomized patients (mean HbA1c 7.42% [57.6 mmol/mol]) to BIL ( n = 307) or glargine ( n = 159). The primary end point was change from baseline HbA1c to 26 weeks (0.4% [4.4 mmol/mol] noninferiority margin). RESULTS At 26 weeks, reduction in HbA1c was superior with BIL versus glargine (−0.82% [−8.9 mmol/mol] vs. −0.29% [−3.2 mmol/mol]; least squares mean difference −0.52%, 95% CI −0.67 to −0.38 [−5.7 mmol/mol, 95% CI −7.3 to −4.2; P < 0.001); greater reduction in HbA1c with BIL was maintained at 52 weeks. More BIL patients achieved HbA1c <7% (53 mmol/mol) at weeks 26 and 52 ( P < 0.001). With BIL versus glargine, nocturnal hypoglycemia rate was 60% lower, more patients achieved HbA1c <7% (53 mmol/mol) without nocturnal hypoglycemia at 26 and 52 weeks ( P < 0.001), and total hypoglycemia rates were lower at 52 weeks ( P = 0.03). At weeks 26 and 52, glucose variability was lower ( P < 0.01), basal insulin dose was higher ( P < 0.001), and triglycerides and aminotransferases were higher with BIL versus glargine ( P < 0.05). Liver fat content (LFC), assessed in a subset of patients ( n = 162), increased from baseline with BIL versus glargine ( P < 0.001), with stable levels between 26 and 52 weeks. CONCLUSIONS BIL provided superior glycemic control versus glargine, with reduced nocturnal and total hypoglycemia, lower glucose variability, and increased triglycerides, aminotransferases, and LFC

    Cellular anatomy of the mouse primary motor cortex.

    An essential step toward understanding brain function is to establish a structural framework with cellular resolution on which multi-scale datasets spanning molecules, cells, circuits and systems can be integrated and interpreted1. Here, as part of the collaborative Brain Initiative Cell Census Network (BICCN), we derive a comprehensive cell type-based anatomical description of one exemplar brain structure, the mouse primary motor cortex, upper limb area (MOp-ul). Using genetic and viral labelling, barcoded anatomy resolved by sequencing, single-neuron reconstruction, whole-brain imaging and cloud-based neuroinformatics tools, we delineated the MOp-ul in 3D and refined its sublaminar organization. We defined around two dozen projection neuron types in the MOp-ul and derived an input-output wiring diagram, which will facilitate future analyses of motor control circuitry across molecular, cellular and system levels. This work provides a roadmap towards a comprehensive cellular-resolution description of mammalian brain architecture

    Teaching-Learning-Based Optimization (TLBO) is a new swarm intelligence optimization algorithm that simulates the class learning process. According to such problems of the traditional TLBO as low optimizing efficiency and poor stability, this paper proposes an improved TLBO algorithm mainly by introducing the elite thought in TLBO and adopting different inertia weight decreasing strategies for elite and ordinary individuals of the teacher stage and the student stage. In this paper, the validity of the improved TLBO is verified by the optimizations of several typical test functions and the SVM optimized by the weighted elitist TLBO is used in the diagnosis and classification of common failure data of the TE chemical process. Compared with the SVM combining other traditional optimizing methods, the SVM optimized by the weighted elitist TLBO has a certain improvement in the accuracy of fault diagnosis and classification
