The Effects of Loranthus parasiticus
This study is undertaken to evaluate cognitive enhancing effect and neuroprotective effect of Loranthus parasiticus. Cognitive enhancing effect of Loranthus parasiticus was investigated on scopolamine-induced amnesia model in Morris water maze test and passive avoidance test. We also examined the neuroprotective effect on glutamate-induced cell death in HT22 cells by MTT assay. These results of Morris water maze test and passive avoidance test indicated that 10 and 50 mg/kg of Loranthus parasiticus reversed scopolamine-induced memory deficits. Loranthus parasiticus also protected against glutamate-induced cytotoxicity in HT22 cells. As a result of in vitro test for elucidating possible mechanism, Loranthus parasiticus inhibited AChE activity, ROS production, and Ca2+ accumulation. Loranthus parasiticus showed memory enhancing effect and neuroprotective effect and these effects may be related to inhibition of AChE activity, ROS level, and Ca2+ influx
Multivalued Fixed Point Results for Two Families of Mappings in Modular-Like Metric Spaces with Applications
The aim of this research work is to find out some results in fixed point theory for a pair of families of multivalued mappings fulfilling a new type of U-contractions in modular-like metric spaces. Some new results in graph theory for multigraph-dominated contractions in modular-like metric spaces are developed. An application has been presented to ensure the uniqueness and existence of a solution of families of nonlinear integral equationsThe authors thank the Basque Government for supporting this work through Grant IT1207-19
Granular Cell Tumors of the Abdominal Wall
Granular cell tumors (GCT) are found in virtually any body site, including the tongue, skin, subcutaneous tissue, breast, rectum and vulva. However, they are rarely seen in the abdominal wall. We report here on a rare case of GCT in the rectus muscle of the abdominal wall. A 44-year-old woman presented with a non-tender, hard mass in the right lower abdominal wall. Upon microscopic examination, the tumor was found to comprise of large polygonal cells with an abundant eosinophilic granular cytoplasm and round to oval nuclei. Upon immunohistochemical staining, the large cells showed S-100 and CD68 positive granular aggregates in the cytoplasm. Many lysosomes of variable size were observed in the cytoplasm
A FIXED POINT APPROACH TO THE FUZZY STABILITY OF A QUADRATIC-QUARTIC FUNCTIONAL EQUATION
Using fixed point method, we prove the Hyers-Ulam stability of the following quadratic-quartic functional equation f(x + 2y) + f(x - 2y) = 4f(x + y) + 4f(x - y) - 6f(x) + 2f(2y) - 8f(y) in fuzzy Banach space
On the Stability of Quadratic Functional Equations
Let X,Y be vector spaces and k a fixed positive integer. It is shown that a mapping f(kx+y)+f(kx-y)=2k2f(x)+2f(y) for all x,y∈X if and only if the mapping f:X→Y satisfies f(x+y)+f(x-y)=2f(x)+2f(y) for all x,y∈X. Furthermore, the Hyers-Ulam-Rassias stability of the above functional equation in Banach spaces is proven
AN ADDITIVE FUNCTIONAL INEQUALITY IN MATRIX NORMED SPACES
Using the fixed point method and the direct method, we prove the Hyers-Ulam stability of an additive functional inequality in matrix normed spaces
