Wielu przedsiębiorców upatruje w kulturze organizacyjnej źródła ograniczeń i czynnika spowalniającego zmiany w organizacji. Mówią, że sztywne normy i często nierealne standardy powodują hamowanie komunikacji w zespole i sprowadzają pracownika do rangi narzędzia, mającego jedynie przynieść dochód.

Where do long-period comets come from? 26 comets from the non-gravitational Oort spike

The apparent source region (or regions) of long-period comets as well as the definition of the dynamically new comet are still open questions. The aim of this investigation is to look for the apparent source of selected long period comets and to refine the definition of dynamically new comets. We show that incorporation of the non-gravitational forces into the orbit determination process significantly changes the situation. We determined precise non-gravitational orbits of all investigated comets and next followed numerically their past and future motion during one orbital period. Applying ingenious Sitarski's method of creating swarms of virtual comets compatible with observations, we were able to derive the uncertainties of original and future orbital elements, as well as the uncertainties of the previous and next perihelion distances. We concluded that the past and future evolution of cometary orbits under the Galactic tide perturbations is the only way to find which comets are really dynamically new. We also have shown that a significant percentage of long-period comets can visit the zone of visibility during at least two or three consecutive perihelion passages.Comment: Accepted for publication in MNRA

They say that the fixed rules and unrealistic standards result in the inhibition of team communication bringing down employees to the status of a tool, designed only to generating income. The article presents the relations and connections within organizational culture, a new concept of business management which is design management and design-orientated strategy. The culture is presented as a point of departure in focusing on the emphasis on determining the formulation of this strategy. It is shown how to strengthen business activities while weakening the competition which is less open to knowledge and non-verbal communication channels.

    Public relations in crisis management

The company crisis decreases its value. Undoubtedly, it ruins the company’s image, the stakeholders’ opinion and puts the company at a disadvantage on the market. It strikes very unexpectedly and destroys the company financially. Moreover, the company loses its credibility and limits its relations with the environment. It does effect the emotional sphere of the top management and employees, which is crucial for the company. This report presents the heart of crisis management. It defines such terms as issue and crisis management, as well as shows the most effective way to create the communications channel in case of crisis and its reduction. Apart from the academic aspect, there are also practical references concerning insurance agreement as a means of risk elimination

Study of PDMS Microchannels for Liquid Crystalline Optofluidic Devices in Waveguiding Photonic Systems

    No full text
Microchannels in LC:PDMS structures must be of good quality and suitable geometry to achieve the desired orientation of the liquid crystalline molecules inside. When applying a casting technique, with the molds obtained even by the most accurate method, i.e., photolithography, it is still crucial to inspect the cross-section of the structure and the surface roughness of the PDMS material. This paper presents a study of PDMS microchannels using a Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) to make such a characterization as accurate as possible. By comparing images of the samples taken using standard polarized light microscopy and SEM, it is likely to understand the mechanism of the liquid crystal molecular orientation occurring in the samples. The results obtained in this work may be used for numerical simulations and further development of LC:PDMS structures

MMP-10, MMP-7, TIMP-1 and TIMP-2 mRNA expression in esophageal cancer

Introduction: Tissue inhibitors of metalloproteinases (TIMP) and the matrix metalloproteinases (MMP) are involved in the spread of cancer. Methods: We have evaluated the matrix metalloproteinases' (MMP-10, MMP-7) and their inhibitors' (tissue inhibitors of metalloproteinases - TIMP-1, TIMP-2) mRNA expression in 61 esophageal cancer samples from patients who had undergone surgery, by using real-time quantitative RT-PCR, and correlated the results with the patient clinicopathologic features. Results: MMP-10, MMP-7, TIMP-1, TIMP-2 were overexpressed in 73%, 85%, 55% and 42% of esophageal cancer samples, respectively. The expression of MMP-10, TIMP-1, and TIMP-2 correlated with the tumor size. The MMP-7 overexpression was associated with the tumour stage (I, II vs III, p=0.05) and lymph node metastasis (N0 vs N1, p=0.037). Conclusions: We conclude that in the resected esophageal cancer an increased mRNA expression of MMP-7, MMP-10 and TIMP-1 correlated with clinicopathologic features. We suggest that these genes may play a role during progression of the disease

Orientation of Liquid Crystalline Molecules on PDMS Surfaces and within PDMS Microfluidic Systems

    No full text
The unique components of PDMS-based microfluidic systems are those combined with liquid crystalline materials. Their functionality, especially when it comes to optical applications, highly depends on the LC molecular arrangement. This work summarizes experimental investigations on the orientation of molecules within LC:PDMS structures according to the manufacturing technologies. The availability of high-quality molds to pattern PDMS is a significant barrier to the creation of advanced microfluidic systems. The possibility of using inexpensive molds in the rapid and reproducible fabrication process has been particularly examined as an alternative to photolithography. Different geometries, including an innovative approach for the electrical control of the molecular arrangement within PDMS microchannels, are presented. These studies are critical for novel optofluidic systems, introducing further research on LC:PDMS waveguiding structures

A Novel Approach for the Creation of Electrically Controlled LC:PDMS Microstructures

    No full text
This work presents research on unique optofluidic systems in the form of air channels fabricated in PDMS and infiltrated with liquid crystalline material. The proposed LC:PDMS structures represent an innovative solution due to the use of microchannel electrodes filled with a liquid metal alloy. The latter allows for the easy and dynamic reconfiguration of the system and eliminates technological issues experienced by other research groups. The paper discusses the design, fabrication, and testing methods for tunable LC:PDMS structures. Particular emphasis was placed on determining their properties after applying an external electric field, depending on the geometrical parameters of the system. The conclusions of the performed investigations may contribute to the definition of guidelines for both LC:PDMS devices and a new class of potential sensing elements utilizing polymers and liquid crystals in their structures
