New records of <i>Catamblyrhynchus diadema</i> for Northwestern Argentina

The first record of the Plushcap ( <i>Catamblyrhynchus diadema</i>) for Salta province is given based in a collected specimen. New records for Jujuy province are reported. A immature plumage is described and information about the habits is discussed by means ofthe bibliography and field notes

The Andean Swallow (Orochelidon andecola) in Argentina

During ornithological studies in the provinces of Jujuy, Salta, and San Juan, we recorded the Andean Swallow Orochelidon andecola at 40 localities. These are the first records in Argentina, and also represent the southernmost for the species. Some of these localities are up to 1500 m lower than the previously known elevational limit (now 800 masl), and up to 1100 km southwards. This is a relatively poorly known swallow, and we present novel natural history data. We found evidence of breeding in five localities. New records of the broad-winged hawk (<i>Buteo platypterus</i>) in Argentina

El Aguilucho Alas Anchas (<i>Buteo platypterus</i>) es una rapaz migratoria que nidifica en América del Norte y pasa la temporada no reproductiva en el norte de América del Sur, extendiéndose hacia el sur por los Andes. Hasta ahora, el único registro documentado para Argentina correspondía a un individuo observado en el Parque Nacional Calilegua, provincia de Jujuy. Aquí documentamos cuatro nuevas observaciones de Buteo platypterus provenientes de la misma localidad y presentamos información general sobre el hábitat y las características del plumaje. Analizamos la morfología y la coloración del plumaje de los individuos observados y las comparamos con las de otras especies con las cuales podrían confundirse en el área. Además, evaluamos estos registros a la luz de la distribución conocida para la especie en América del Sur. Nuestras observaciones extienden la distribución austral de Buteo platypterus unos 500 km al sur de su distribución conocida.The Broad-winged Hawk is a migratory raptor that breeds in North America and spends the nonbreeding season in northern South America, and throughout the Andes. Only one observation had been reported so far in Argentina, in Calilegua National Park, Jujuy Province. Here we report four additional records of the Broad-winged Hawk from this same locality, and present information regarding their habitat and plumage. We analyze the morphology and plumage of this species and compare it with those of similar coexisting species. In addition, we evaluate these records in the light of the species’ known South American distribution. Our observations extend the southern distribution range of the Broad-winged Hawk 500 km south of its previously known range
