The influence of information technology in determining the model for sustainability of freight forwarding
Freight forwarding as a factor for growth of the economy, industry and in particular the trade of the Republic of Macedonia and abroad, requires adapting to new conditions resulting from the global economic crisis. The fact that freight forwarding is an integral part of logistics need: To improve performance and to adjust to new conditions (legislation, international agreements and implementation of information technologies). This scientific paper gives a model of sustainable development of freight forwarding where the main accent is placed on the input of information technologies as one of the elements that affect it. From the given data we has analyze and forecast the influence of IT elements of the development on freight forwarding for the period from 2005 to 2015
The Concept of Resilience and Protection of Critical Infrastructure against Natural and Man-made Disasters in Republic of Macedonia
The paper argues that if Macedonia is about to enhance resilience to natural and man made disasters it must consider effective critical infrastructure protection. Identifying critical infrastructures that need to be protected, among others, will enable Macedonian society to withstand, absorb, adapt to the new situation and to bounce back effectively. During the research we have identified two problems. First there is no national consensus of what resilience means. Second there is no identified list of critical infrastructures that need protection through the concept of βall hazards approachβ embedded in the national disaster risk and reduction concept. Therefore the paper first discusses the concept of resilience as seen by different branches of science in order to establish a framework for further examination in Macedonian context. In the second part we examine how the concept of critical infrastructure protection against all types of hazards could be placed in Macedonia. In the third part of the paper we argue that without coherent state strategy for critical infrastructure protection Macedonia risks to endanger disaster/crisis management systemβs resilience. Finally we provide some recommendation

Analysis and Modeling of hydrological processes in The River Bregalnica Basin
The changes of hydrological characteristics have effect on surrounding. The problems in the river Bregalnica basin (Eastern part of the Republic of Macedonia) are the result of abundant rainfalls and long drought periods. Observing and understanding the hydrological effects may provide good estimate and forecast in several fields (geology, mining, agriculture, management of water resources and civil engineering). The Masterβs paper has developed analysis of hydrological process (rainfall, temperature, river flow, wind speed, sunshine duration, clouding, relative humidity, evaporation, infiltration, runoff), witch define the conditions for genesis and processing observed data. Visualization of data on the hydrological changes in the river basin provides a good estimation and forecast. Time Series of rainfalls, temperature and river flow can be analysis with stochastic methods. ARIMA models analysis data on annual rainfalls, flow and temperature. ARIMA models are good technique for estimation & predict of hydrological variations. The models for analysis, estimation and forecast can be calculated in several fields (economy, industry, research, manufactures, monitoring). Only we need long time series of data
Disaster Risk Management Concept in the Republic of Macedonia, Challenges and Recommendations for the future
Contemporary Macedonian disaster risk management concept follows the idea promoted by the UN and the Hyogo Framework of Action for 2005 β 2015. It has been envisioned to have three core functions: disaster risk reduction, disaster response and disaster recovery.
Paper aims to identify the issues from the operational design of the Macedonian model for disaster risk management and accordingly to propose solutions. Based heavily on the concept of civil defense Macedonian concept preserved the top-down approach, centralized planning and execution with emphasized Government role during execution. However, the process of decentralization and fiscal empowerment of the municipalities in combination with the growth of the private sector, are current trends that poses significant challenges to the overall philosophy and systemβs operational success. These present trends must be recognized and addressed accordingly first of all with legislation reform but more important with presenting vision and leadership for the process. The paper analyses national legislation with logical and observational criteria of disaster risk management model in Macedonia.
We examine βreal-lifeβ relations between the central and local authorities in Macedonia, identify legal constraints of the system and then analyze the discrepancy between formal and functional in the Macedonian disaster risk management. Bearing in mind that most of the Balkan states share similar if not equal legacy we believe that recommendation for improvement of Macedoniaβ disaster risk management could serve as background that will be applicable to the rest of the Region
