CLIMATE CONDITIONS IN THE WORK ENVIRONMENT
SAŽETAK: U ovom radu prikazan je problem topline i kvalitete zraka radnog okoliÅ”a u odnosu prema zaÅ”titi na radu. Pri tome se poÅ”lo od zakonskih i podzakonskih propisa kao i kriterija koji su iskazani s pomoÄu standarda EN i ISO. Istaknuto je da pri obavljanju radnih zadataka nije samo znaÄajno osigurati sigurne uvjete na strojevima i ureÄajima, veÄ treba voditi raÄuna o toplinskim Äimbenicima i kvaliteti zraka kao znaÄajnim ergonomskim Äimbenicima, te racionalnijem pristupu u vezi uporabe energije za te namjene u odreÄenom tehnoloÅ”kom procesu.SUMMARY: The paper focuses on the issues of heat and air quality in the work environment, considered as being part of occupational safety. The starting points were drawn from relevant legal provisions and regulations and from the criteria set out in the EN and ISO standards. The key point argued in the paper is that, in performing a work task, safe operation of equipment and machinery is not the only prerequisite, but that heat and air quality should be regarded as equally important ergonomic factors. Furthermore, a rational approach to energy utilisation for these purposes in technological processes should be adopted
INVESTIGATION OF THE LEVEL OF ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION IN KARLOVAC CITY
Rad prikazuje stavove i ocjene studenata kao mlade populacije u gradu Karlovcu i njegovoj okolici u vezi oneÄiÅ”Äenja životnog okoliÅ”a. KarlovaÄka županija ima dosta nerijeÅ”enih ekoloÅ”kih problema. Ti problemi su važni za studente karlovaÄkog veleuÄiliÅ”ta kao buduÄe akademske graÄane koji Äe trebati rjeÅ”avati ekoloÅ”ke probleme. U radu su istraživane ocjene studenata karlovaÄkog veleuÄiliÅ”ta o životnom okoliÅ”u grada Karlovca. Putem ankete istraživala su se njihova miÅ”ljenja u vezi uzroka, posljedica, odgovornosti i naÄina rjeÅ”avanja navedene problematike. PomoÄu skale ocjena 1-5 rangirani su odreÄeni ekoloÅ”ki problemi. Rezultati istraživanja pokazali su prioritetna pitanja iz ovog podruÄja koja treba rjeÅ”avati (stanje Äe ostati i dalje nepromijenjeno, posljedice na zdravlje ljudi zbog oneÄiÅ”Äenja vode i tehniÄko-tehnoloÅ”kih Äimbenika kao i drugih izvora oneÄiÅ”Äenja bit Äe na visokoj razini, te nedovoljna svijest i educiranost o ovim problemima svih graÄana i institucija sustava). Zbog toga ovo istraživanje treba biti u funkciji poveÄavanja i podizanja kvalitete života kao jedan stalni proces ostvarivanja i unapreÄivanja ljudskih i institucionalnih vrijednosti.SUMMARY: The paper describes opinions and assessments of students ā as the younger population of the city of Karlovac and its surroundings ā related to the pollution of their living environment. Karlovac County has several unsolved ecological problems. These problems are important for the students of the Polytechnic of Karlovac, as they are future academic citizens whose duty will be to solve ecological problems. The paper explores student assessments regarding Karlovacās living environment. Their opinions about the causes, consequences, responsibilities and methods of solving the aforementioned problems are investigated by means of a student survey. Particular ecological problems are ranked on a range from 1 to 5. The research findings indicate some priority questions which need to be solved (the conditions will remain unchanged, consequences for human health due to water pollution and technical- technological factors as well as other pollution sources will remain at high level, and insufficient awareness and education about these problems of all citizens and institutions is still present). For this reason this investigation should help increase the overall quality of life, as a continuous process towards achieving and improving human and institutional values
Impact of anthropometric measurements on ergonomic driver posture and safety
Basic properties of vehicle interior are described. Car seat design, upholstery fabrics and passenger safety have been particularly emphasized. Textile fabrics as products providing comfort, safety and esthetics of the vehicle interiorwere dealt with. Safety belts, airbags and car seat covers were specially pointed out. Specific problems related to the safety of passengers, whose anthropometric measurements deviate from the average ones, were addressed
Construction-Related Occupational Injuries in Karlovac County
U radu se opisuju rezultati istraživanja ozljeda na radu u graditeljstvu KarlovaÄke županije za razdoblje od 1999. do 2002. godine. ObraÄeni su i tabelarno prikazani te analizirani podaci o ozljedama prema raznim obilježjima i uzrocima (spol, dob, obrazovanje, strojevi, oprema, okoliÅ” i dr.). Dani su rezultati istraživanja ozljeda nastalih zbog nepridržavanja osnovnih i posebnih pravila zaÅ”tite na radu. Prikazan je i pregled izgubljenog radnog vremena zbog nastalih ozljeda.Results obtained by the analysis of injuries that occurred during construction activities in Karlovac county in the period from 1999 to 2002 are described in the paper. Occupational injury data, classified according to various features and causes (gender, age, education level, machine, equipment, surroundings, etc.), are analyzed and presented in tabular form. Results obtained by the study of injuries generated due to non-compliance with basic and special occupational safety rules are given. An overview of working hours lost as a result of such injuries is also presented
ANALYSIS OF ASBESTOS PRODUCTION AND ITS EFFECTS ON HUMAN HEALTH
Dane su osnovne znaÄajke azbesta i njegove prednosti u odnosu na druge zamjenske sirovine. Analizirane su posljedice na ljudsko zdravlje pri dodiru s azbestom te dane odreÄene smjernice i odluke za njegovu uporabu. UnatoÄ visokim kvalitativnim znaÄajkama, mnogostrukoj namjeni i relativno niskoj cijeni, prevladalo je njegovo negativno svojstvo i apelira se na zaustavljanje proizvodnje azbesta u svijetu. Mnoge razvijene zemlje su prestale upotrebljavati azbest upravo zbog njegove Å”tetnosti na ljudsko zdravlje. Oboljeli od azbestoze i drugih neizljeÄivih bolesti uzrokovanih azbestom sve viÅ”e zahtijevaju od vlada u zemljama koje joÅ” proizvode azbest visoke premije odÅ”tetnih zahtjeva i upozoravaju na materijalne posljedice izazvane uporabom azbesta.SUMMARY: Asbestos properties and its advantages in relation to other supplement raw materials are presented. Effects on human health when coming in contact with asbestos are analyzed and specific guidelines and decisions concerning its use are given. Despite excellent characteristics, multiple use and relatively low price, its harmfulness has brought about recommendations to stop the production of asbestos worldwide. Many developed countries have stopped using asbestos because of its detrimental effects to human health. Persons inflicted with asbestosis and other incurable diseases caused by asbestos demand high damage claims from the governments of the countries manufacturing asbestos
RESULTS OF APPLICATION OF BASIC WORKPLACE SAFETY RULES ON THE REDUCTION OF WORK-RELATED INJURIES
Cilj ovog istraživanja je analizirati i usporediti prosjeÄnu godiÅ”nju stopu ozljeda na radu u tekstilnoj i graÄevinskoj industriji za razdoblje od 1997. do 2006. godine. Za istraživanje ozljeda na radu uzeti su podaci iz Äetiri tekstilne i dvije graÄevinske tvrtke. U statistiÄkoj analizi primijenjeni su hi kvadrat test i aritmetiÄka sredina za procjenu rezultata. UsporeÄen je broj ozljeda u obje gospodarske grane po danima u tjednu, po mjesecima i prema dobi dana. Rezultati istraživanja ukazuju da kontinuirana primjena preventivnih mjera zaÅ”tite na radu u znatnijoj mjeri može utjecati na smanjenje ozljeda na radu i produktivnost rada.SUMMARY: The purpose of this investigation is to analyze and compare the average annual rate of occupational injuries in the textile and the civil engineering industries for the period from 1997 to 2006. In order to investigate these occupational injuries, data was gathered from four textile and two construction companies. The chi-square test and the arithmetic mean were used as statistical tools in assessing the results. The numbers of injuries in both industry branches were compared by the day of the week, by the month and according to the time of day. The research findings indicate that the continuous use of preventive measures of occupational safety can considerably affect the reduction of occupational injuries and labor productivity
Hydroxyapatite/iron oxide nanocomposite prepared by high energy ball milling
Nanocomposites (HAp/iron oxide), made of hydroxyapatite (HAp) and ferrimagnetic iron oxide, were synthesized by high-energy ball milling a mixture consisting of iron oxide nanoparticles and the starting materials used for the HAp synthesis: calcium hydrogen phosphate anhydrous (CaHPO4), and calcium hydroxide (Ca(OH)2). Two HAp/iron oxide samples with the magnetic phase content of 12 and 30 wt.% were prepared and their microstructure, morphology and magnetic properties were analysed by X-ray diffraction and transmission electron microscopy. Furthermore, the measurement of particle size distribution was performed by laser scattering, and temperature/field dependence on magnetization was determined. X-ray diffraction data confirmed the formation of two-phased samples (HAp and spinel iron oxide) without the presence of any other parasite phase. The shape of particles was nearly spherical in both samples, ranging from only a few to several tens of nanometres in diameter. These particles formed agglomerates with the most common value of the number-based particle size distribution of 380 and 310 nm for the sample with 12 and 30 wt.% of iron oxide, respectively. Magnetization data showed that both HAp/iron oxide composites had superparamagnetic behaviour at room temperature. Ā© 2019 University of Novi Sad, Faculty of Technology. All rights reserved
In situ XRPD and DSC study of order-disorder phase transition in nanosize Li-ferrite
An order-disorder phase transition of nanosize Li-ferrite (Li0.50Fe2.50O4) was studied by DSC measurements and in situ XRPD technique. Photocatalytic decolorisation of selected organic dyes by mesoporous tio2 thin films
The mesoporous TiO2 films were prepared by dip coating technique
combined with the evaporation-induced self-assembly method using
selected polymer templates. Influence of specific surface area, pore size,
(nano)crystal structure and morphology of TiO2 films on the photocatalytic
behaviour was investigated. In addition, particular process parameters were
considered in decolorisation of organic dyes, such as: thickness of TiO2
films, initial concentration of selected pollutants and number of reaction
cycles
