The Scalar Sector in 331 Models
We calculate the exact tree-level scalar mass matrices resulting from
symmetry breaking using the most general gauge-invariant scalar potential of
the 331 model, both with and without the condition that lepton number is
conserved. Physical masses are also obtained in some cases, as well as

A survey of nulling pulsars using the Giant Meterwave Radio Telescope
Several pulsars show sudden cessation of pulsed emission, which is known as
pulsar nulling. In this paper, the nulling behaviour of 15 pulsars is
presented. The nulling fractions of these pulsars, along with the degree of
reduction in the pulse energy during the null phase, are reported for these
pulsars. A quasi-periodic null-burst pattern is reported for PSR J1738-2330.
The distributions of lengths of the null and the burst phases as well as the
typical nulling time scales are estimated for eight strong pulsars. The nulling
pattern of four pulsars with similar nulling fraction are found to be different
from each other, suggesting that the fraction of null pulses does not quantify
the nulling behaviour of a pulsar in full detail. Analysis of these
distributions also indicate that while the null and the burst pulses occur in
groups, the underlying distribution of the interval between a transition from
the null to the burst phase and vice verse appears to be similar to that of a

Modeling and control of flexible space platforms with articulated payloads
The first steps in developing a methodology for spacecraft control-structure interaction (CSI) optimization are identification and classification of anticipated missions, and the development of tractable mathematical models in each mission class. A mathematical model of a generic large flexible space platform (LFSP) with multiple independently pointed rigid payloads is considered. The objective is not to develop a general purpose numerical simulation, but rather to develop an analytically tractable mathematical model of such composite systems. The equations of motion for a single payload case are derived, and are linearized about zero steady-state. The resulting model is then extended to include multiple rigid payloads, yielding the desired analytical form. The mathematical models developed clearly show the internal inertial/elastic couplings, and are therefore suitable for analytical and numerical studies. A simple decentralized control law is proposed for fine pointing the payloads and LFSP attitude control, and simulation results are presented for an example problem. The decentralized controller is shown to be adequate for the example problem chosen, but does not, in general, guarantee stability. A centralized dissipative controller is then proposed, requiring a symmetric form of the composite system equations. Such a controller guarantees robust closed loop stability despite unmodeled elastic dynamics and parameter uncertainties
Turbofan aft duct suppressor study program listing and user's guide
A description of the structure of the Annular Flow Duct Program (AFDP) for the calculation of acoustic suppression due to treatment in a finite length annular duct carrying sheared flow is presented. Although most appropriate for engine exhaust ducts, this program can be used to study sound propagation in any duct that maintains annular geometry over a considerable length of the duct. The program is based on the modal analysis of sound propagation in ducts with axial segments of different wall impedances. For specified duct geometry, wall impedance, flow and acoustic conditions in the duct (including mode amplitude distribution of the source) and duct termination reflection characteristics, the program calculates the suppression due to the treatment in the duct. The presence of forward and backward traveling modes in the duct due to the reflection and redistribution of modes at segment interfaces and duct end terminations are taken into account in the calculations. The effects of thin wall boundary layers (with a linear or mean flow velocity profile) on the acoustic propagation are also included in the program. A functional description of the major subroutines is included and a sample run is provided with an explanation of the output

Quality Comparison of Vegetables Dehydrated in Solar Drier and Electrical Oven
Ascorbic acid, sugars, dehydration ratio and moisture were determined in the vegetables dehydrated separately in solar drier and in electrical oven under similar conditions by standard methods. Vegetables examined were cabbage, cauliflower, tomato, radish, turnip, lahi, methi and palak. It was revealed that in each case, contents of ascorbic acid were higher in solar-dried vegetables in comparison to oven-dried stuffs. This finding indicated superiority of solar driers over electrical ovens, both in reference to quality of the dehydrated vegetables and its overall cost of operation
On the genericity of spacetime singularities
We consider here the genericity aspects of spacetime singularities that occur
in cosmology and in gravitational collapse. The singularity theorems (that
predict the occurrence of singularities in general relativity) allow the
singularities of gravitational collapse to be either visible to external
observers or covered by an event horizon of gravity. It is shown that the
visible singularities that develop as final states of spherical collapse are
