    Helmintos de tropidurus (Lacertilia, Iguanidae) da coleção helmintológica do Instituto Oswaldo Cruz

    After studying 245 samples of helminths recovered from Tropidurus torquatus (Wied) and Tropidurus spinulosus (Cope) all of them included in the Oswaldo Cruz Helmintological, Collection, we were able to present the attained results as follows: Plagiorchis freitasi n. sp. is proposed, as the first species under Plagiorchis Luehe, 1899, occurring in a reptilian host in Brazil, which is also applied to Oswaldocruzia mazzai Travassos, 1935. Strongyluris travassosi Alho, 1969 and Strongyluris freitasi Alho, 1969 are identified to Strongyluris oscari Travasses., 1923. Piratuba digiticauda Lent & Freitas, 1941, Salobrella interrnedia Freitas, 1941 and Physaloptera retusa are refered for the first time in Tropidurus torquatus (Wied) as well as Physaloptera lutzi Guimarães, Cristofaro e Rodrigues, 1976, Strongyluris oscari Travasses, 1923 and Parapharyngodo sceleratus (Travassos, 1923) in Tropidurus spinulosus (Cope). The nernatodes proved to be the most infecting group and the higher infection frequency being due to Paradistomum parvissimum Travasos, 1918 in Tropidurus torquatus (Wied) and Paraphyryngodon sceleratus (Travassos, 1923) in Tropidurus spinulosus (Cope). The digestive tract was found to be highly contaminated; the storn ach more frequently and the large iptestine presenting the higher infection rate. The same nematode species could be ascertained in both hosts. Trematodes, cestodes, acanthocephalans and linguatulids were not found among the samples recovered from Topidurus soinulosus (Cope), included in The Instituto Oswaldo Cruz Helminthological Collection, what can be associated to the few necropsies accomplished in this host.Análise quantitativa e qualitativa dos helmintos coletados em 245 necrópsias de lagartos pertencentes às espécies Tropidurus torquatus (Wied) e Tropidurus spinulosus (Cope) e que se encontram depositados na Coleção Helmintológica do Instituto Oswaldo Cruz. Descreve Plagiorchis freitasi sp. n., primeira espécie do gênero Plagiorchis Luehe, 1899 parasitas de réptil no Brasil. As espécies Strongyluris travassosi Alho, 1969 e Strongyluris freitasi Alho, 1969 são identificadas a Strongyluris oscari Travassos, 1923. É pela primeira vez referida como parasita de réptil a espécie Oswaldocruzia mazzai Travassos, 1935. São assinaladas pela primeira vez em Tropidurus torquatus (Wied) as espécies Piratuba digiticauda Lent & Freitas, 1941, Salobrella intermedia Freitas, 1941 e Physaloptera retusa Rudolphi, 1819, Physaloptera lutzi Guimarães, Cristofaro e Rodrigues, 1976, Strongyluris oscari Travassos, 1923 e Parapharyngodon sceleratus (Travassos, 1923) em Tropidurus spinulosus (Cope). O grupo de helmintos que apresentou o maior índice de infestação em ambos os hospedeiros foi o dos nematódeos. As espécies que apresentaram maior frequência de infestação foram Paradistomum parvissimum (Travassos, 1918) em T. torquatus (Weid) e Parapharyngodon sceleratus (Travassos, 1923) em T. spinulosus (Cope). Os orgãos mais intensam ente parasitados foram os do aparelho digestivo. Dentre eIes o mais frequentemente infestado foi o estômago, mas o que apresentou maior índice de parasitismo foi o intestino grosso. Observamos em ambas as espécies de lagartos a ocorrência de quase todas as mesmas espécies de nematódeos. Nas amostras de T. spinulosus (Cope) depositados na Coleção Helmintológica do Instituto Oswaldo Cruz não verificamos a existência de exemplares de trematódeos, cestódeos, acantocéfalos e linguatulídeos. Acreditamos que um maior número de necrópsias deste lagarto venha a revelar a presença destes grupos de parasitas

    The present paper reports acuarioid nematodes recovered from avian hosts. A new species of the genus Schistorophus Railliet, 1916 is proposed based mainly on findings referring to ptilina, spicules and vagina. Ancyracanthopsis coronata (Molin, 1860) Chabaud & Petter, 1959 is referred again in Brazil since its proposition in 1860, from specimens recovered from a Brazilian bird. A revised key to the species of the genus Schistorophus is also presented
