    Research on the Stability of NDGM Model with the Fractional Order Accumulation and Its Optimization

    The grey forecasting model has been successfully applied in numerous fields since it was proposed. The nonhomogeneous discrete grey model (NDGM) was approximately constructed based on the nonhomogeneous index trend; it increased the applicability of discrete grey model. However, the NDGM required accurate data and better effect when the original data did not meet the conditions and fitting and prediction errors were larger. For this, the NDGM with the fractional order accumulating operator (abbreviated as NDGMp/q) has higher performance. In this paper, the matrix perturbation bound of the parameters was used to analyze the stability of NDGMp/q and the NDGMp/q can decrease the disturbance bound. Subsequently, the parameter estimation method of NDGMp/q was studied and the Particle Swarm Optimization algorithm was employed to optimize the order number of NDGMp/q and some steps were provided. In addition, the results of two practical examples demonstrated that the perturbation of NDGMp/q was smaller than that of NDGM and provided remarkable predication performance compared with the traditional NDGM model and DGM model

    Are the preoperative albumin levels and the albumin to fibrinogen ratio the risk factors for acute infection after primary total joint arthroplasty?

    BackgroundAcute infection, such as periprosthetic joint infection and superficial surgical site infection, after primary total joint arthroplasty (TJA) is a serious complication, and its risk factors remain controversial. This study aimed to identify the risk factors for acute infection after primary TJA, especially the serological indicators that reflect preoperative nutritional statuses, such as albumin level and albumin to fibrinogen ratio (AFR).MethodsWe retrospectively reviewed patients who underwent elective primary hip or knee arthroplasty at our institution from 2009 to 2021. Potential risk factors of acute infection and demographic information were extracted from an electronic health record. Patients who suffered acute infection, such as PJI or SSI, after TJA were considered the study group. Non-infected patients were matched 1:2 with the study group according to sex, age, the involved joint (hip or knee), and year of surgery (control group). The variables of potential risk factors for acute postoperative infection (demographic characteristics, preoperative comorbidities and drug use, operative variables, and laboratory values) were collected and evaluated by regression analysis. Restrictive cubic spline regression analysis was also used to examine the relationship between preoperative serum albumin levels and acute postoperative infection.ResultsWe matched 162 non-infected patients with 81 patients who suffered from acute postoperative infection. Among the patients who suffered from acute infection within 90 days after TJA, 18 were diagnosed with periprosthetic joint infection and 63 with surgical site infection. Low albumin levels were strongly associated with acute postoperative infection (95% confidence interval, 0.822–0.980; P = 0.015). This risk increased as preoperative albumin levels decreased, with a negative dose-response relationship (Poverall = 0.002; Pnonlinear = 0.089). However, there was no significant association between the AFR and acute infection after primary TJA (P = 0.100).ConclusionThere is currently insufficient evidence to confirm the relationship between preoperative AFR and acute infection after elective primary TJA, while a lower preoperative albumin level is an independent risk factor for acute infection with a negative dose-response relationship. This suggests that optimal nutritional management may be benefited before elective primary TJA

    A potential relationship between MMP-9 rs2250889 and ischemic stroke susceptibility

    PurposeIschemic stroke (IS), a serious cerebrovascular disease, greatly affects people's health and life. Genetic factors are indispensable for the occurrence of IS. As a biomarker for IS, the MMP-9 gene is widely involved in the pathophysiological process of IS. This study attempts to find out the relationship between MMP-9 polymorphisms and IS susceptibility.MethodsA total of 700 IS patients and 700 healthy controls were recruited. The single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) markers of the MMP-9 gene were genotyped by the MassARRAY analyzer. Multifactor dimensionality reduction (MDR) was applied to generate SNP–SNP interaction. Furthermore, the relationship between genetic variations (allele and genotype) of the MMP-9 gene and IS susceptibility was analyzed by calculating odds ratios (ORs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs).ResultsOur results demonstrated that rs2250889 could significantly increase the susceptibility to IS in the codominant, dominant, overdominant, and log-additive models (p < 0.05). Further stratification analysis showed that compared with the control group, rs2250889 was associated with IS risk in different case groups (age, female, smoking, and non-drinking) (p < 0.05). Based on MDR analysis, rs2250889 was the best model for predicting IS risk (cross-validation consistency: 10/10, OR = 1.56 (1.26–1.94), p < 0.001).ConclusionOur study preliminarily confirmed that SNP rs2250889 was significantly associated with susceptibility to IS

    Protocol for a Single-Center Randomized Controlled Trial of Percutaneous Coronary Intervention Via Distal Transradial Access Versus Transradial Access

    Background: Although transradial access (TRA) has become the main vascular access for coronary intervention, its high radial artery occlusion rate limits its application in some patients. Studies have shown that compared with TRA, distal transradial access (dTRA) with the snuffbox area or the Hegu acupoint area as the puncture point significantly decreases the incidence of radial artery occlusion. However, no randomized controlled study has confirmed the safety and efficacy of coronary artery intervention via dTRA in China. Methods and analyses: This single-center, prospective, randomized controlled, superiority open-label study will enroll 428 consecutive patients with coronary heart disease undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention as the study population. After preoperative evaluation, the participants will be randomly divided into a study group (dTRA) and control group (TRA) in a 1:1 ratio. The primary endpoint (radial artery occlusion at 24 hours after operation) and secondary endpoint events will be evaluated and recorded.     <i>Agaricus bisporus</i> Polysaccharides Ameliorates Behavioural Deficits in D-Galactose-Induced Aging Mice: Mediated by Gut Microbiota

    White button mushroom polysaccharide (WMP) has various health-promoting functions. However, whether these functions are mediated by gut microbiota has not been well explored. Therefore, this study evaluated the anti-aging capacity of WMP and its effects on the diversity and composition of gut microbiota in D-galactose-induced aging mice. WMP significantly improved locomotor activity and the spatial and recognition memory of the aging mice. It also alleviated oxidative stress and decreased the pro-inflammatory cytokine levels in the brain. Moreover, WMP increased α-diversity, the short-chain fatty acid (SCFA) level and the abundance of beneficial genera, such as Bacteroides and Parabacteroides. Moreover, its effect on Bacteroides at the species level was further determined, and the enrichments of B. acidifaciens, B. sartorii and B. stercorirosoris were found. A PICRUSt analysis revealed that WMP had a greater impact on the metabolism of carbon, fatty acid and amino acid, as well as the MAPK and PPAR signaling pathway. In addition, there was a strong correlation between the behavioral improvements and changes in SCFA levels and the abundance of Bacteroides, Parabacteroides, Mucispirillum and Desulfovibrio and Helicobacter. Therefore, WMP might be suitable as a functional foods to prevent or delay aging via the directed enrichment of specific species in Bacteroides

    Biotechnological and Therapeutic Applications of Natural Nucleic Acid Structural Motifs

    Abstract Genetic information and the blueprint of life are stored in the form of nucleic acids. The primary sequence of DNA, read from the canonical double helix, provides the code for RNA and protein synthesis. Yet these already-information-rich molecules have higher-order structures which play critical roles in transcription and translation. Uncovering the sequences, parameters, and conditions which govern the formation of these structural motifs has allowed researchers to study them and to utilize them in biotechnological and therapeutic applications in vitro and in vivo. This review covers both DNA and RNA structural motifs found naturally in biological systems including catalytic nucleic acids, non-coding RNA, aptamers, G-quadruplexes, i-motifs, and Holliday junctions. For each category, an overview of the structural characteristics, biological prevalence, and function will be discussed. The biotechnological and therapeutic applications of these structural motifs are highlighted. Future perspectives focus on the addition of proteins and unnatural modifications to enhance structural stability for greater applicability

    Supercritical CO2 Fluid Extraction of Elaeagnus mollis Diels Seed Oil and Its Antioxidant Ability

    Supercritical fluid carbon dioxide (SF-CO2) was used to extract oil from Elaeagnus mollis Diels (E. mollis Diels) seed and its antioxidant ability was also investigated. The effect of extraction pressure (20&ndash;35 MPa), extraction temperature (35&ndash;65 C), extraction time (90&ndash;180 min) and seed particle size (40&ndash;100 mesh) on the oil yield were studied. An orthogonal experiment was conducted to determine the best operating conditions for the maximum extraction oil yield. Based on the optimum conditions, the maximum yield reached 29.35% at 30 MPa, 50 C, 150 min, 80 mesh seed particle size and 40 g/min SF-CO2 flow rate. The E. mollis Diels seed (EDS) oil obtained under optimal SF-CO2 extraction conditions had higher unsaturated fatty acid content (91.89%), higher vitamin E content (96.24 &plusmn; 3.01 mg/100 g) and higher total phytosterols content (364.34 &plusmn; 4.86 mg/100 g) than that extracted by Soxhlet extraction (SE) and cold pressing (CP) methods. The antioxidant activity of the EDS oil was measured by DPPH and hydroxyl radical scavenging test. EDS oil extracted by different methods exhibited a dose-dependent antioxidant ability, with IC50 values of no significant differences. Based on the results of correlation between bioactive compounds, lupeol and -tocopherol was the most important antioxidant in EDS oil

    Effect of Guar Gum with Sorbitol Coating on the Properties and Oil Absorption of French Fries

    This paper investigated the effects of guar gum with sorbitol coating on the oil absorption of French fries by combined dye oil methods, confocal laser scanning microscopy (CLSM) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The results showed that pretreatment of blanching with calcium ions and coating with guar gum and sorbitol could significantly reduce the structural oil (STO) and penetrated surface oil (PSO) of French fries and have no negative effects on its texture and also effectively control the final moisture content (p &lt; 0.05). Compared with control or samples coated with guar gum (blanching with or without calcium ions), the total oil (TO) of French fries with guar gum and sorbitol reduced by 50.8%, 33.1% and 30.6%, respectively. CLSM photographs confirmed that STO significantly reduced after coating with guar gum and sorbitol, followed by PSO. In the process of frying, the coatings of guar gum or guar gum with sorbitol could effectively prevent oil from infiltrating the potato tissue, which can be seen in the SEM photographs. The barrier properties of French fries were enhanced by coating guar gum, and sorbitol was added to avoid pores and cracks. Blanching with calcium ion can significantly reduce the final moisture content of coating French fries
