AIM: To probe into the clinical value of danshen injection iontophoresis in treatment of vitreous hemorrhage. <p>METHODS: Eighty-eight vitreous hemorrhage patients(88 eyes)were selected from June 2012 to June 2013 in our hospital. The patients were divided into observation group and control group randomly, with 44 cases(44 eyes)in each group. The patients in control group were treated with xueshuantong clinical drug treatment. The patients in observation group were treated with danshen injection iontophoresis clinical drug treatment. The clinical treatment and visual recovery situations of the patients in two groups were compared and analyzed. <p>RESULTS: The cure rate and total effective rate of observation group were 75% and 95%. The cure rate and total effective rate of control group were 59% and 77%. There were statistically significant differences(<i>P</i><0.05). Compared with control group, the rate of patients in observation group with visual acuity between 0.6 to 0.9 was improved significantly, rate of visual acuity less 0.2 was reduced significantly, and the whole blood viscosity, plasma viscosity, hematocrit and fibrinogen were improved significantly, there were statistical significance(<i>P</i><0.05).<p>CONCLUSION: Danshen injection iontophoresis therapy has positive role in improving clinical outcomes and promoting visual function for patients with vitreous hemorrhage

Enhancement of quantum correlations for the system of cavity QED by applying bang-bang pulses

We propose a scheme of increasing quantum correlations for the cavity quantum electrodynamics system consisting of two noninteracting two-level atoms each locally interacting with its own quantized field mode by bang-bang pulses. We investigate the influence of the bang-bang pulses on the dynamics of quantum discord, entanglement, quantum mutual information and classical correlation between the two atoms. It is shown that the amount of quantum discord and entanglement of the two atoms can be improved by applying the bang-bang pulses.Comment: 6 pages, 5 figure

Crowd3D: Towards Hundreds of People Reconstruction from a Single Image

Image-based multi-person reconstruction in wide-field large scenes is critical for crowd analysis and security alert. However, existing methods cannot deal with large scenes containing hundreds of people, which encounter the challenges of large number of people, large variations in human scale, and complex spatial distribution. In this paper, we propose Crowd3D, the first framework to reconstruct the 3D poses, shapes and locations of hundreds of people with global consistency from a single large-scene image. The core of our approach is to convert the problem of complex crowd localization into pixel localization with the help of our newly defined concept, Human-scene Virtual Interaction Point (HVIP). To reconstruct the crowd with global consistency, we propose a progressive reconstruction network based on HVIP by pre-estimating a scene-level camera and a ground plane. To deal with a large number of persons and various human sizes, we also design an adaptive human-centric cropping scheme. Besides, we contribute a benchmark dataset, LargeCrowd, for crowd reconstruction in a large scene. Experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method. The code and datasets will be made public.Comment: 8 pages (not including reference

Pomolic acid inhibits proliferation of human lung carcinoma cells via induction of apoptosis and suppression of cell migration and invasion

Purpose: To investigate the anti-proliferative effect of pomolic acid on lung cancer cells (A549), and theunderlying mechanism. Methods: The viability of pomolic acid-treated A549 cells was determined by MTT and colony formation assays. Cell colony formation was monitored with acridine orange/ethidium bromide (AO/EB) staining. Protein expressions of Bax and Bcl-2 were assayed by western blotting. Results: Pomolic acid suppressed the growth of A549 cells, with an half-maximal inhibitory concentration of (IC50) of 10 μM (p &lt; 0.05). However, the IC50 of pomolic acid for normal BEAS-2B cells was 80 μM. Pomolic acid also decreased colony formation of A549 cells. At 20 μM, the percentage of A549 colonies decreased to 14 % of control. The dose-dependent cytotoxicity of pomolic acid against A549 cells was mediated via induction of apoptosis and oxidative stress. Pomolic acid treatment enhanced the expression of Bax and decreased the expression of Bcl-2 in A549 cells. Moreover, pomolic acid inhibited the migration and invasion in A549 cells in a dose-dependent manner (p &lt; 0.05).Conclusion: These results indicate the potent anticancer effect of pomolic acid against human lung cancer cells. Thus, pomolic acid has promising potential as a lead molecule for the development of chemotherapy

The Effects of Velvet Antler of Deer on Cardiac Functions of Rats with Heart Failure following Myocardial Infarction

Velvet antler of deer (VAD) is a commonly-used kidney-Yang supplementing traditional Chinese medication. According to the heart-kidney-related theory, heart Yang originates in kidney Yang and heart failure due to heart Yang deficiency can be treated by tonifying kidney Yang. In this study, we investigated therapeutic effects of VAD on cardiac functions in rats with heart failure following myocardial infarction. Forty-eight male Wistar rats were subjected either to left coronary artery ligation (N = 36) or to sham operation (N = 12). One week after the surgery, rats with heart failure received daily treatment of double-distilled water, captopril or VAD by gavage for consecutively four weeks, while sham-operated animals were given double-distilled water. Ultrasonic echocardiography was adopted to examine cardiac structural and functional parameters and serum brain natriuretic peptide (BNP) concentration was measured using radioimmunoassay. We found that VAD partially reversed changes in cardiac functional parameters and serum BNP levels in rats with heart failure. These results provide further evidence for the heart-kidney-related theory and suggest that VAD might be a potentially alternative and complementary medicine for the treatment of heart failure
