Electromagnetic manipulation for anti-Zeno effect in an engineered quantum tunneling process
We investigate the quantum Zeno and anti-Zeno effects for the irreversible
quantum tunneling from a quantum dot to a ring array of quantum dots. By
modeling the total system with the Anderson-Fano-Lee model, it is found that
the transition from the quantum Zeno effect to quantum anti-Zeno effect can
happen as the magnetic flux and the gate voltage were adjusted.Comment: 6 pages, 5 figure
Coherent control of photon transmission : slowing light in coupled resonator waveguide doped with Atoms
In this paper, we propose and study a hybrid mechanism for coherent
transmission of photons in the coupled resonator optical waveguide (CROW) by
incorporating the electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) effect into
the controllable band gap structure of the CROW. Here, the configuration setup
of system consists of a CROW with homogeneous couplings and the artificial
atoms with -type three levels doped in each cavity. The roles of three
levels are completely considered based on a mean field approach where the
collection of three-level atoms collectively behave as two-mode spin waves. We
show that the dynamics of low excitations of atomic ensemble can be effectively
described by an coupling boson model. The exactly solutions show that the light
pulses can be stopped and stored coherently by adiabatically controlling the

Phase Diagram of Rydberg atoms in a nonequilibrium optical lattice
We study the quantum nonequilibrium dynamics of ultracold three-level atoms
trapped in an optical lattice, which are excited to their Rydberg states via a
two-photon excitation with nonnegligible spontaneous emission. Rich quantum
phases including uniform phase, antiferromagnetic phase and oscillatory phase
are identified. We map out the phase diagram and find these phases can be
controlled by adjusting the ratio of intensity of the pump light to the control
light, and that of two-photon detuning to the Rydberg interaction strength.
When the two-photon detuning is blue-shifted and the latter ratio is less than
1, bistability exists among the phases. Actually, this ratio controls the
Rydberg-blockade and antiblockade effect, thus the phase transition in this
system can be considered as a possible approach to study both effects.Comment: 5 pages,5 figure
A translational bioinformatic approach in identifying and validating an interaction between Vitamin A and CYP19A1
INTRODUCTION: One major challenge in personalized medicine research is to identify the environmental factors that can alter drug response, and to investigate their molecular mechanisms. These environmental factors include co-medications, food, and nutrition or dietary supplements. The increasing use of dietary supplements and their potential interactions with cytochrome P450 (CYP450) enzymes is a highly significant personalized medicine research domain, because most of the drugs on the market are metabolized through CYP450 enzymes.
METHODS: Initial bioinformatics analysis revealed a number of regulators of CYP450 enzymes from a human liver bank gene expression quantitative loci data set. Then, a compound-gene network was constructed from the curated literature data. This network consisted of compounds that interact with either CYPs and/or their regulators that influence either their gene expression or activity. We further evaluated this finding in three different cell lines: JEG3, HeLa, and LNCaP cells.
RESULTS: From a total of 868 interactions we were able to identify an interesting interaction between retinoic acid (i.e. Vitamin A) and the aromatase gene (i.e. CYP19A1). Our experimental results showed that retinoic acid at physiological concentration significantly influenced CYP19A1 gene expressions.
CONCLUSIONS: These results suggest that the presence of retinoic acid may alter the efficacy of agents used to suppress aromatase expression
The impact of FDI on the production networks between China and East Asia and the role of the U.S. and ROW as final markets
This paper uses a 3 factor – 4 region – 15 sector computable general equilibrium model to study the impact of FDI accruing to China. We focus on the sectors of Electronics, Machinery and Textiles which account for 55.4% and 40% of Chinese overall exports and imports, respectively. Our data seem to confirm the existing empirical knowledge on the production networks between China and East Asia, and the role that the U.S. and ROW play as final markets for Chinese exports. Based on these differentiated geographical roles and on the contrasting production technologies of the three sectors, we offer an in-depth analysis of the effect of FDI inflows on production, prices and bilateral trade across China, East Asia, the U.S. and ROW. The magnitude of FDI inflows brings about proportional impacts on the increase in production and the fall in prices across the three sectors considered. However, the subsequent adjustment in bilateral trade differs. On the one hand, FDI leads to an increase of Chinese exports of Electronics and Machinery, crowding out production and exports in the rest of regions. On the other hand, the increase in FDI in Textiles still brings about increase in production which does not result in higher exports. The private consumption orientation of Textiles explains its contrasting trade pattern with respect to Electronics and Machinery. The fall in Chinese exports of Textiles in China underlies the increase on exports of Textiles across the rest of regions. However, world trade flows in Textiles are of smaller volume than the one in Electronics and Machinery. Therefore, the increase in Textiles of exports of the rest of regions does not compensate their big losses of exports in Machinery and Electronics
FDI in China and global production networks: Assessing the role of and impact on big world players (East Asia, Japan, EU28 and U.S.)
This paper analyzes several effects of FDI accruing to Textiles, Chemicals, Electronics and Machinery in China. Though the four sectors have contrasting production technologies and vary largely in trade patterns, the related Chinese exports and imports still follow a general trend: East Asia and Japan are the main intermediate suppliers while the rest of regions play more the role of final markets. The paper describes the networks among big regions, providing their relative importance across different levels (local industry, global industry, host economy and world economy). It also estimates a rich set of regional impacts after the rising FDI inflows

We establish the binary nonlinearization approach of the spectral problem of
the super AKNS system, and then use it to obtain the super finite-dimensional
integrable Hamiltonian system in supersymmetry manifold .
