Effects of geometric features of highway horizontal alignment on steering behavior of passenger car

In order to elucidate the effects of the features of horizontal curves on the steering behavior of passenger car, the vehicle driving behavior when negotiating simple curves (tangent + circular section + tangent) was investigated. A complete dynamic model of a passenger car was developed using the Automatic Dynamic Analysis of Mechanical Systems (ADAMS) software. Virtual driving tests were conducted on simple curves with different parameters for two driving patterns: curve cutting and lane keeping. Based on the variation in the amplitude of the angle input of the steering wheel, the steering process of a passenger car was divided into three stages: curve entry, maintenance, and curve exit. The steering lengths and steering times corresponding to the vehicle entering, remaining in, and exiting curves were obtained for each driving pattern. The relationship between the two parameters and the curve radius as well as that between the two parameters and the deflection angle was thus determined. On the one hand, this study can be a guide for selecting the parameters for curve geometry design and, in particular, for determining an appropriate value of the spiral length. On the other hand, the correspondence between the steering wheel angle and the trajectory curvature should allow one to identify the three driving states, namely, straight driving, variable-curvature driving, and circular-curve driving. This should help in improving driver behavior and hence driving safety

Tetrahedron genuine entanglement measure of four-qubit systems

Quantifying genuine entanglement is a key task in quantum information theory. We study the quantification of genuine multipartite entanglement for four-qubit systems. Based on the concurrence of nine different classes of four-qubit states, with each class being closed under stochastic local operation and classical communication, we construct a concurrence tetrahedron. Proper genuine four-qubit entanglement measure is presented by using the volume of the concurrence tetrahedron. For non genuine entangled pure states, the four-qubit entanglement measure classifies the bi-separable entanglement. We show that the concurrence tetrahedron based measure of genuine four-qubit entanglement is not equivalent to the genuine four-partite entanglement concurrence. We illustrate the advantages of the concurrence tetrahedron by detailed examples.Comment: 23 pages, 4 figure

New Results for Periodic Solution of High-Order BAM Neural Networks with Continuously Distributed Delays and Impulses

    Get PDF
By M-matrix theory, inequality techniques, and Lyapunov functional method, certain sufficient conditions are obtained to ensure the existence, uniqueness, and global exponential stability of periodic solution for a new type of high-order BAM neural networks with continuously distributed delays and impulses. These novel conditions extend and improve some previously known results in the literature. Finally, an illustrative example and its numerical simulation are given to show the feasibility and correctness of the derived criteria

Electrically small multiband antenna based on spoof localized surface plasmons

Here an electrically small multiband antenna based on spoof localized surface plasmons (LSPs) has been proposed using corrugated ring resonator printed on a thin dielectric substrate with complementary metallic spiral structure (MSS) on the ground plane. It has been found that the resonant frequencies of spoof LSPs redshift by tuning the arm length of the complementary MSS, which leads to the miniaturization of the antenna. The fabricated multiband antenna has a small size of only 0.11λ × 0.1λ, covering GSM900, GSM1800, and WiFi bands. Such electrically small multiband antenna with high gain is necessary for efficient wireless energy harvesting (WEH), which can find more applications in various areas including Internet of Things (IoT), wireless sensor network (WSN), etc
