    GPSP: Graph Partition and Space Projection based Approach for Heterogeneous Network Embedding

    In this paper, we propose GPSP, a novel Graph Partition and Space Projection based approach, to learn the representation of a heterogeneous network that consists of multiple types of nodes and links. Concretely, we first partition the heterogeneous network into homogeneous and bipartite subnetworks. Then, the projective relations hidden in bipartite subnetworks are extracted by learning the projective embedding vectors. Finally, we concatenate the projective vectors from bipartite subnetworks with the ones learned from homogeneous subnetworks to form the final representation of the heterogeneous network. Extensive experiments are conducted on a real-life dataset. The results demonstrate that GPSP outperforms the state-of-the-art baselines in two key network mining tasks: node classification and clustering.Comment: WWW 2018 Poste

    Novel Intercell Interference Mitigation Algorithms for Multicell OFDMA Systems with Limited Base Station Cooperation

    Resource allocation in multicell downlink orthogonal frequency division multiple-access (OFDMA) systems is investigated, where BSs first independently carry out subcarrier-allocation and then mitigate intercell interference (InterCI) with the aid of very limited base station (BS) cooperation. Two novel InterCI mitigation algorithms are proposed. The first one is the distributed decision making assisted cooperation (DDMC) algorithm, and the second one is the centralized decision making assisted cooperation (CDMC) algorithm. When employing the DDMC algorithm, each BS independently makes the InterCI mitigation decisions. By contrast, when employing the CDMC algorithm, the centralized InterCI mitigation decisions are made with the aid of the cell-edge users’ discrete InterCI information sharing among BSs. While both the algorithms motivate to maximize the spectral-efficiency (sum rate), the CDMC algorithm also aims to maximize the frequency reuse factor. In this paper, we study and compare the performance, including spectral-efficiency of cell-edge users, frequency reuse factor, overhead, etc., of the multicell downlink OFDMA systems employing the proposed and other InterCI mitigation algorithms. Our studies show that both the DDMC and CDMC algorithms can achieve better spectral-efficiency performance than the existing on-off power (OOP) algorithm. Moreover, the CDMC algorithm is capable of achieving the performance close to the upper-bound attained by the so-called full InterCI information assisted decision making (FIIDM) algorithm, which uses exhaustive search to determine the InterCI mitigation decisions. Additionally, the CDMC algorithm is demonstrated to have the highest frequency reuse factor in addition to its spectral-efficiency advantage

    Exploiting Contextual Information for Prosodic Event Detection Using Auto-Context

    Prosody and prosodic boundaries carry significant information regarding linguistics and paralinguistics and are important aspects of speech. In the field of prosodic event detection, many local acoustic features have been investigated; however, contextual information has not yet been thoroughly exploited. The most difficult aspect of this lies in learning the long-distance contextual dependencies effectively and efficiently. To address this problem, we introduce the use of an algorithm called auto-context. In this algorithm, a classifier is first trained based on a set of local acoustic features, after which the generated probabilities are used along with the local features as contextual information to train new classifiers. By iteratively using updated probabilities as the contextual information, the algorithm can accurately model contextual dependencies and improve classification ability. The advantages of this method include its flexible structure and the ability of capturing contextual relationships. When using the auto-context algorithm based on support vector machine, we can improve the detection accuracy by about 3% and F-score by more than 7% on both two-way and four-way pitch accent detections in combination with the acoustic context. For boundary detection, the accuracy improvement is about 1% and the F-score improvement reaches 12%. The new algorithm outperforms conditional random fields, especially on boundary detection in terms of F-score. It also outperforms an n-gram language model on the task of pitch accent detection

    Valley-dependent gauge fields for ultracold atoms in square optical superlattices

    We propose an experimental scheme to realize the valley-dependent gauge fields for ultracold fermionic atoms trapped in a state-dependent square optical lattice. Our scheme relies on two sets of Raman laser beams to engineer the hopping between adjacent sites populated by two-component fermionic atoms. One set of Raman beams are used to realize a staggered \pi-flux lattice, where low energy atoms near two inequivalent Dirac points should be described by the Dirac equation for spin-1/2 particles. Another set of laser beams with proper Rabi frequencies are added to further modulate the atomic hopping parameters. The hopping modulation will give rise to effective gauge potentials with opposite signs near the two valleys, mimicking the interesting strain-induced pseudo-gauge fields in graphene.     Quantum heat diode versus light emission in circuit quantum electrodynamical system

    Precisely controlling heat transfer in a quantum mechanical system is particularly significant for designing quantum thermodynamical devices. With the technology of experiment advances, circuit quantum electrodynamics (circuit QED) has become a promising system due to controllable light matter interactions as well as flexible coupling strengths. In this paper, we design a thermal diode in terms of the two-photon Rabi model of the circuit QED system. We find that the thermal diode can not only be realized in the resonant coupling but also achieve better performance, especially for the detuned qubit-photon ultrastrong coupling. We also study the photonic detection rates and their nonreciprocity, which indicates similar behaviors with the nonreciprocal heat transport. This provides the potential to understand thermal diode behavior from the quantum optical perspective and could shed new insight into the relevant research on thermodynamical devices.Comment: 12 pages, 12 figures.     Characterizing and Subsetting Big Data Workloads

    Big data benchmark suites must include a diversity of data and workloads to be useful in fairly evaluating big data systems and architectures. However, using truly comprehensive benchmarks poses great challenges for the architecture community. First, we need to thoroughly understand the behaviors of a variety of workloads. Second, our usual simulation-based research methods become prohibitively expensive for big data. As big data is an emerging field, more and more software stacks are being proposed to facilitate the development of big data applications, which aggravates hese challenges. In this paper, we first use Principle Component Analysis (PCA) to identify the most important characteristics from 45 metrics to characterize big data workloads from BigDataBench, a comprehensive big data benchmark suite. Second, we apply a clustering technique to the principle components obtained from the PCA to investigate the similarity among big data workloads, and we verify the importance of including different software stacks for big data benchmarking.     Corneal layer plate removal with Fluconazole injected corneal stroma and autologous conjunctival transplantation for keratomycosis

    AIM: To investigate the clinical effect of corneal layer plate removal with Fluconazole injected corneal stroma and autologous conjunctival transplantation for keratomycosis.<p>METHODS: There were 168 cases suffered keratomycosis that the focus located shallow of the cornea and was not obvious to drug, who registered in our hospital from March 2005 to June 2010. In surgery we removed plate layer to cormea clear, the region was greater than focus for 0.5mm,then we injected fluconazole which is 2g/L density in corneal stroma to make the edema area greater than Removal of area for 0.5mm. At last we took pedicle conjunctival flap to cover the plant bed by continuous suture. Postoperative day use drug to drop eye and to observe that whether recurrent of the keratomycosis and how was the edema degrade, the blood supply of conjunctival graft pieces, how about the stimulating signs of the surgery eye, the vision.<p>RESULTS: The improvement rate was 96.2% after surgery for seven days and the cure rate was 95.5% after surgery for one months. We found in 157 eyes accepted trigeminy surgery there were 6 eyes recurrence and the recurrence rate was 3.8%. The mean time of corneal stromal edema faded away was 13.4 hours. After surgery for one month there were 39 eyes(24.8%)whose vision removed than preoperative, there were 91 eyes(58.0%)whose vision were same as preoperative and there were 27 eyes(17.2%)whose vision lower than preoperative. In these operations the loss ratio of corneal endothelium was from 0%-8%, the mean was 2.9%. The irritative symptoms postoperative were mild for 87%, moderate for 10% and severe for 3%. By this surgery the mean length of stay was 7.3 days so the mean hospitalization expenses only were 2160 RMB. Three months after surgery, 4 cases were slight corneal ectasia.<p>CONCLUSION: This operation combined corneal layer plate removal, Fluconazole injected corneal stroma and autologous conjunctival transplantation for keratomycosis which was in early-to-mid was affordable and curative effect. So which could be used in some district which shortage the cornea donor

    Efficacy of Probiotics Supplementation On Chronic Kidney Disease: a Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

    Background/Aims: Dysbiosis of the intestinal microbiota may accelerate the progression of chronic kidney disease (CKD) by increasing the levels of urea toxins. In recent years, probiotics have been recognized to maintain the physiological balance of the intestinal microbiota. In this study, we aim to assess the therapeutic effects of probiotics on CKD patients with and without dialysis via meta-analysis. Methods: We conducted a meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) by searching the databases of Pubmed, EMBASE and Cochrane Library (No. CRD42018093080). Studies on probiotics for treatment of CKD adults lasting for at least 4 weeks were selected. The primary outcomes were the levels of urea toxins, and the second outcomes were the levels of interleukin (IL)-6, C-reactive protein (CRP) and hemoglobin (Hb). The risk of bias was assessed by Cochrane Collaboration’ tool, and the quality of evidence was appraised with the Grading of Recommendation Assessment. Means and standard deviations were analyzed by random effects analysis. Stratified analysis was done and sensitivity analysis was performed when appropriate. Results: Totally, eight studies with 261 patients at CKD stage 3 to 5 with and without dialysis were included. We found a decrease of p-cresyl sulfate (PCS) of 3 studies with 125 subjects (P = 0.01, SMD -0.57, 95% CI, -0.99 to -0.14, I2 = 25%) and an increase of IL-6 in 3 studies with 134 subjects (P = 0.03, 95% CI, SMD 0.37, 0.03 to 0.72, I2 = 0%) in the probiotics groups. Analysis of serum creatinine (P = 0.47), blood urine nitrogen (P = 0.73), CRP (P = 0.55) and Hb (P = 0.49) yielded insignificant difference. Conclusion: Limited number of studies and small sample size are limitations of our study. Probiotics supplementation may reduce the levels of PCS and elevate the levels of IL-6 whereby protecting the intestinal epithelial barrier of patients with CKD
