The electronic and magnetic properties of IIIA group doped ZnO nanosheets (ZnONSs) are investigated by the first principles. The results show that the band gap of ZnO nanosheets increases gradually along with Al, Ga, and In ions occupying Zn sites and O sites. The configuration of Al atoms replacing Zn atoms is more stable than other doped. The system shows half-metallic characteristics for In-doped ZnO nanosheets

    Dirac-boson stars

In this paper, we construct \textit{Dirac-boson stars} (DBSs) model composed of a scalar field and two Dirac fields. The scalar field and both Dirac fields are in the ground state. We consider the solution families of the DBSs for the synchronized frequency ω~\tilde{\omega} and the nonsynchronized frequency ω~D\tilde{\omega}_D cases, respectively. We find several different solutions when the Dirac mass μ~D\tilde{\mu}_D and scalar field frequency ω~S\tilde{\omega}_S are taken in some particular ranges. In contrast, no similar case has been found in previous studies of multistate boson stars. Moreover, we discuss the characteristics of each type of solution family of the DBSs and present the relationship between the ADM mass MM of the DBSs and the synchronized frequency ω~\tilde{\omega} or the nonsynchronized frequency ω~D\tilde{\omega}_D. Finally, we calculate the binding energy EBE_B of the DBSs and investigate the relationship of EBE_B with the synchronized frequency ω~\tilde{\omega} or the nonsynchronized frequency ω~D\tilde{\omega}_D.Comment: 26 pages, 12 figure

A novel 4-(1,3,4-thiadiazole-2-ylthio)pyrimidine derivative inhibits cell proliferation by suppressing the MEK/ERK signaling pathway in colorectal cancer

Colorectal cancer (CRC) is one of the most common types of malignant cancers worldwide. Although molecularly targeted therapies have significantly improved treatment outcomes, most of these target inhibitors are resistant. Novel inhibitors as potential anti-cancer drug candidates are still needed to be discovered. Therefore, in the present study, we synthesized a novel 4-(1,3,4-thiadiazole-2-ylthio)pyrimidine derivative (compound 4) using fragment- and structure-based techniques and then investigated the anti-cancer effect and underlying mechanism of anti-CRC. The results revealed that compound 4 significantly inhibited HCT116 cell proliferation with IC50 values of 8.04 ± 0.94 µmol L–1 after 48 h and 5.52 ± 0.42 µmol L–1 after 72 h, respectively. Compound 4 also inhibited colony formation, migration, and invasion of HCT116 cells in a dose-dependent manner, as well as inducing cell apoptosis and arresting the cell cycle in the G2/M phase. In addition, compound 4 was able to inhibit the activation of the MEK/ERK signaling in HCT116 cells. And compound 4 yielded the same effects as the MEK inhibitor U0126 on cell apoptosis and MEK/ERK-related proteins. These findings suggested that compound 4 inhibited cell proliferation and growth, and induced cell apoptosis, indicating its use as e a novel and potent anti-cancer agent against CRC via the MEK/ERK signaling pathway

12 cases of intractable diabetic foot ulcer in elderly patients was reported, systemic, topical evaluation, multi-disciplinary treatment, and optimized care program could accelerate healing process. Active carbon fiber containing silver dressing was fist used in diabetic foot care, and all ulcers healed in 6~12 weeks. This new dressing promote healing through absorption of activated carbon fibers, the effect of far red lines and the effect of silver ion on anti infection, which manifesting physical therapy assist ulcer recovery

Quantitative measurements of the mechanical properties of insect cuticle are a useful tool in the development of bio-mimetic materials suitable for industrial products. In this study, a micro-tensile tester was used to investigate the mechanical properties of elytra cuticle of the dung beetle (Copris ochus Motschulsky). Micro tensile testing show that: yield strength (Fs) =17.12±3.55N, Maximum tensile (Fb) =14.74±4.11N, yield strength ( ) =1.4±0.15GPa, tensile strength ( )=1.2±0.21GPa, elastic modulus(E) =14.56±4.20GPa, plastic index(δ) =0.241±0.10. Tensile elongation of the specimens was between 12.1-36.3%. Our results demonstrate that the elytra possess ductile material characteristics. Field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM) was used to investigate the detailed structure of the elytra cross section in both the transverse and longitudinal directions. In the transverse direction, the fibers of the deeper layers of the endocuticle are orientated in a constant, rotated angle with neighboring fibers rotated in relation to the each other in the same direction. The fibers in the longitudinal direction show that the epicuticle, exocuticle and endocuticle layers clearly create a parallel hierarchical structure. We believe this is a result of the composite effect of the hierarchical structure. Finally, we developed a laminated model based on the parameters provided by tensile testing, FESEM imaging and nanoindentation measurements, and compared the results of the model to our experimental results.
