Effects of Geometrical Symmetry on the Vortex Nucleation and Penetration in Mesoscopic Superconductors
We investigate how the geometrical symmetry affects the penetration and
arrangement of vortices in mesoscopic superconductors using self-consistent
Bogoliubov-de Gennes equations. We find that the entrance of the vortex happens
when the current density at the hot spots reaches the depairing current
density. Through determining the spatial distribution of hot spots, the
geometrical symmetry of the superconducting sample influences the nucleation
and entrance of vortices. Our results propose one possible experimental
approach to control and manipulate the quantum states of mesoscopic
superconductors with their topological geometries, and they can be easily
generalized to the confined superfluids and Bose-Einstein condensates
Capture on High Curvature Region: Aggregation of Colloidal Particle Bound to Giant Phospholipid Vesicles
A very recent observation on the membrane mediated attraction and ordered
aggregation of colloidal particles bound to giant phospholipid vesicles (I.
Koltover, J. O. R\"{a}dler, C. R. Safinya, Phys. Rev. Lett. {\bf 82},
1991(1999)) is investigated theoretically within the frame of Helfrich
curvature elasticity theory of lipid bilayer fluid membrane. Since the concave
or waist regions of the vesicle possess the highest local bending energy
density, the aggregation of colloidal beads on these places can reduce the
elastic energy in maximum. Our calculation shows that a bead in the concave
region lowers its energy . For an axisymmetrical dumbbell
vesicle, the local curvature energy density along the waist is equally of
maximum, the beads can thus be distributed freely with varying separation
distance.Comment: 12 pages, 2 figures. REVte
Comparison of capecitabine and tegafur/gimeracil/oteracil (S-1) in the treatment of advanced breast carcinoma in the elderly
Purpose: To analyse and compare the clinical effects and safety of capecitabine and tegafur/gimeracil/oteracil (S-1) in the treatment of advanced breast carcinoma. Methods: Eighty-four metastatic breast cancer elderly patients for whom first or second-line treatment had failed, were selected from among those admitted to the oncology ward of Binjiang People’s Hospital, China between January 2014 and June 2015. They were randomly divided into S-1 group (n =41) and capecitabine group (n = 41) and received varying doses of those drugs according to body surface area. Clinical effects, progression-free survival, and incidence of adverse reactions were compared for the two groups following treatment. Results: Disease control rate (CR) in S-1 group was 55.6 %, much higher than 35.1 % observed for capecitabine group (p < 0.05). The disease control rate for the S-1 group was 93.7 %, also much higher than the 70.6 % found in capecitabine group. Survival analysis showed that the median survival times of the two groups did not differ significantly (p > 0.05). Furthermore, some adverse reactions such as myelosuppression and lack of strength, did not differ significantly between the two groups (p > 0.05), whereas others, including leukopenia, nausea and vomiting and hand-foot syndrome were more serious and frequent in capecitabine group than in S-1 group (p < 0.05).Conclusion: Monotherapy with S-1 is more effective than that with capecitabine. Adverse reactions are minimal for both drugs. Keywords: Breast carcinoma, Capecitabine, S-1, Adverse reactions, Myelosuppression, Leukopenia, Hand-foot syndrom

Generating Persuasive Responses to Customer Reviews with Multi-Source Prior Knowledge in E-commerce
Customer reviews usually contain much information about one's online shopping
experience. While positive reviews are beneficial to the stores, negative ones
will largely influence consumers' decision and may lead to a decline in sales.
Therefore, it is of vital importance to carefully and persuasively reply to
each negative review and minimize its disadvantageous effect. Recent studies
consider leveraging generation models to help the sellers respond. However,
this problem is not well-addressed as the reviews may contain multiple aspects
of issues which should be resolved accordingly and persuasively. In this work,
we propose a Multi-Source Multi-Aspect Attentive Generation model for
persuasive response generation. Various sources of information are
appropriately obtained and leveraged by the proposed model for generating more
informative and persuasive responses. A multi-aspect attentive network is
proposed to automatically attend to different aspects in a review and ensure
most of the issues are tackled. Extensive experiments on two real-world
datasets, demonstrate that our approach outperforms the state-of-the-art
methods and online tests prove that our deployed system significantly enhances
the efficiency of the stores' dealing with negative reviews.Comment: Accepted at CIKM 2022 applied researc
Expression of hydrogen sulfide, hydrogen-sulfide synthase and cyclooxygenase-2, and their mechanisms of action in amniotic tissues
Purpose: To investigate the expressions of cystathionine β-synthase (CBS), cystathionine γ - lyase (CSE) and cyclooxygenase - 2 (COX - 2) and their relationships with premature delivery in amniotic tissues. Methods: Parturients were divided into three groups: 40 preterm-labor parturients (PTL group), 28 term-labor parturients (TL group), and 28 term non-labor parturients (TNL group). Changes in expressions of CBS, CSE and COX-2 were determined by Western blot (WB) in amniotic tissues of parturients in the three groups. The expression of COX - 2 was determined after the amniotic tissues of parturients in the TNL group were cultured in vitro and processed by exogenous hydrogen-sulfide (H2S).Results: The expression level of COX - 2 was significantly lower in the TNL group, when compared with the PTL and TL groups (p < 0.05). The expression of CBS was increased in the order PTL > TL > TNL, with TNL group having the highest level, and there were significant differences in CBS expressions among the three groups (p < 0.05).Conclusion: These results suggest that when the expressions of CBS and CSE are down-regulated, the decreased H2S synthesis promotes the overexpression of COX - 2 by NF - kB signaling pathway, causing increased prostaglandin synthesis which results in premature delivery. Keywords: Cystathionine β - synthase, Cystathionine γ - lyase, Cyclooxygenase - 2; Amniotic tissues; Preterm labo
