    Electrical Investigation of the Oblique Hanle Effect in Ferromagnet/Oxide/Semiconductor Contacts

    We have investigated the electrical Hanle effect with magnetic fields applied at an oblique angle ({\theta}) to the spin direction (the oblique Hanle effect, OHE) in CoFe/MgO/semiconductor (SC) contacts by employing a three-terminal measurement scheme. The electrical oblique Hanle signals obtained in CoFe/MgO/Si and CoFe/MgO/Ge contacts show clearly different line shapes depending on the spin lifetime of the host SC. Notably, at moderate magnetic fields, the asymptotic values of the oblique Hanle signals (in both contacts) are consistently reduced by a factor of cos^2({\theta}) irrespective of the bias current and temperature. These results are in good agreement with predictions of the spin precession and relaxation model for the electrical oblique Hanle effect. At high magnetic fields where the magnetization of CoFe is significantly tilted from the film plane to the magnetic field direction, we find that the observed angular dependence of voltage signals in the CoFe/MgO/Si and CoFe/MgO/Ge contacts are well explained by the OHE, considering the misalignment angle between the external magnetic field and the magnetization of CoFe.Comment: 19 pages, 8 figure

    Design of Automation Environment for Analyzing Various IoT Malware

    With the increasing proliferation of IoT systems, the security of IoT systems has become very important to individuals and businesses. IoT malware has been increasing exponentially since the emergence of Mirai in 2016. Because the IoT system environment is diverse, IoT malware also has various environments. In the case of existing analysis systems, there is no environment for dynamic analysis by running IoT malware of various architectures. It is inefficient in terms of time and cost to build an environment that analyzes malware one by one for analysis. The purpose of this paper is to improve the problems and limitations of the existing analysis system and provide an environment to analyze a large amount of IoT malware. Using existing open source analysis tools suitable for various IoT malicious codes and QEMU, a virtualization software, the environment in which the actual malicious code will run is built, and the library or system call that is actually called is statically and dynamically analyzed. In the text, the analysis system is applied to the actual collected malicious code to check whether it is analyzed and derive statistics. Information on the architecture of malicious code, attack method, command used, and access path can be checked, and this information can be used as a basis for malicious code detection research or classification research. The advantages are described of the system designed compared to the most commonly used automated analysis tools and improvements to existing limitations

    Rapid Recovery of Demolished Young-Dong Highway 205.4km Due to Heavy Rain

    Yong-dong highway that has an important role to connect between the west end and the east resort areas of South Korea was demolished at 205.4km from the west end due to an unexpected heavy rain whose intensity is 62.4mm/h on July 15th, 2006. Foundations of concrete retaining walls contact on Walljeong stream that has a steep bed slope and small water volume except a rainy season were scoured, and the concrete retaining walls were overturned. The water came into the embankment, and the westbound lanes of the highway were destroyed. The highway was blocked to traffic just before a big holiday season, and Korea Expressway Corporation (KEC), an agency of South Korea government, changed the flow line away from the embankment to protect it from scour, and dropped a lot of huge rocks whose diameters are over 1m to recover the demolished embankment. KEC finished the recovery works only for two days and reopen the highway. To prevent the highway from the pavement deformation and the future scour, grouting under pavement and rock-socketed concrete retaining wall with earth anchors without a foot were made for four months after the rapid recover

    Various methods have been used to investigate the hair shaft. In the ultrastructural hair field, scanning and transmission electron microscopies are widely used investigative methods, but they have some technical limitations. Recently, X-ray microscopes with sub-micron spatial resolution have emerged as useful instruments because they offer a unique opportunity to observe the interior of an undamaged sample in greater detail. In this report, we examined damaged hair shaft tips using hard X-ray microscopy with a 90 nm spatial resolution. The results of this study suggest that hard X-ray microscopy is an alternative investigative method for hair morphology studies

    Transplantation of Adipose Derived Stromal Cells into the Developing Mouse Eye

    Adipose derived stromal cells (ADSCs) were transplanted into a developing mouse eye to investigate the influence of a developing host micro environment on integration and differentiation. Green fluorescent protein-expressing ADSCs were transplanted by intraocular injections. The age of the mouse was in the range of 1 to 10 days postnatal (PN). Survival dates ranged from 7 to 28 post transplantation (DPT), at which time immunohistochemistry was performed. The transplanted ADSCs displayed some morphological differentiations in the host eye. Some cells expressed microtubule associated protein 2 (marker for mature neuron), or glial fibrillary acid protein (marker for glial cell). In addition, some cells integrated into the ganglion cell layer. The integration and differentiation of the transplanted ADSCs in the 5 and 10 PN 7 DPT were better than in the host eye the other age ranges. This study was aimed at demonstrating how the age of host micro environment would influence the differentiation and integration of the transplanted ADSCs. However, it was found that the integration and differentiation into the developing retina were very limited when compared with other stem cells, such as murine brain progenitor cell

    Endogenous metabolic markers for predicting the activity of dihydropyrimidine dehydrogenase

    Five-fluorouracil (5-FU) is a chemotherapeutic agent that is mainly metabolized by the rate-limiting enzyme dihydropyrimidine dehydrogenase (DPD). The DPD enzyme activity deficiency involves a wide range of severities. Previous studies have demonstrated the effect of a DPYD single nucleotide polymorphism on 5-FU efficacy and highlighted the importance of studying such genes for cancer treatment. Common polymorphisms of DPYD in European ancestry populations are less frequently present in Koreans. DPD is also responsible for the conversion of endogenous uracil (U) into dihydrouracil (DHU). We quantified U and DHU in plasma samples of healthy male Korean subjects, and samples were classified into two groups based on DHU/U ratio. The calculated DHU/U ratios ranged from 0.52 to 7.12, and the two groups were classified into the 10th percentile and 90th percentile for untargeted metabolomics analysis using liquid chromatography-quantitative time-of-flight-mass spectrometry. A total of 4440 compounds were detected and filtered out based on a coefficient of variation below 30%. Our results revealed that six metabolites differed significantly between the high activity group and low activity group (false discovery rate q-value \u3c 0.05). Uridine was significantly higher in the low DPD activity group and is a precursor of U involved in pyrimidine metabolism; therefore, we speculated that DPD deficiency can influence uridine levels in plasma. Furthermore, the cutoff values for detecting DPD deficient patients from previous studies were unsuitable for Koreans. Our metabolomics approach is the first study that reported the DHU/U ratio distribution in healthy Korean subjects and identified a new biomarker of DPD deficiency

    Recently, the efficacy of immuno-oncologic agents for advanced hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) has been proven in several trials. In particular, atezolizumab with bevacizumab (AteBeva), as a first-line therapy for advanced HCC, has shown tremendous advances in the IMBrave150 study. However, second or third-line therapy after treatment failure with AteBeva has not been firmly established. Moreover, clinicians have continued their attempts at multidisciplinary treatment that includes other systemic therapy and radiotherapy (RT).
