    IMPACT OF INVESTMENTS ON FOOD SECURITY ACCESS: CASE OF EU AND NON-EU MEMBER COUNTRIES

    Agriculture around the world faces a number of challenges. The aim of this paper is to investigate the impact of gross investments and agriculture investments on the level of food security in the member countries of the European Union (EU) and non-EU member countries. In the paper as a method of research hierarchical regression analysis was used. The results of the research showed that there is a statistically significant influence of gross investments and agriculture investments on the level of food security in the EU and non-EU member countries. The largest amount of gross investments and investments in agriculture was recorded in Croatia and Slovenia, as a EU members countries, which have the highest level of food security. On the other hand, the lowest volume of gross investments and investments in agriculture was recorded in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as non-EU member country, which has the lower level of food security

    Possibilities for employment in agricultural cooperatives exists, specially for skilled labour. There are at least one cooperatives in every village, whereby most of them need to employ skilled and young labour. Regrettably, most of cooperatives have insufficient finansial resourses for increasing employment, and need patronage and every support from state autority for this intention. Increase of employment in agricultural cooperatives would help cooperatives achieve better results, become more competitive, and improve the living standard in rural areas because of decrease of unemployment

    In the history of Vojvodinas cooperative movement, relationships between farmers and agricultural cooperatives were changeable. Importance of agricultural cooperatives for farmers is proved accros rich tradition of cooperative movement, which is present in our region for more than 150 years. Farmers basic goal was always to improve their production and income through cooperation, but they often didn't achive that, mainly because of restrictive state policy. Resolving some of the subjective and objective farmer's promblems in doing bussiness through cooperatives, would help them achieve better results, become more competitive, and improve the living standard in rural areas

    This paper discusses some of the basic data which define the current situation, potentials and prospects of agricultural cooperatives in A. P. Vojvodina. Agricultural cooperatives are a key factor in sustaining and improving the competitiveness of agricultural producers, in terms of increasing competition, which occurs as a result of the approaching process to the European Union. The potential of agricultural cooperatives in the past and the present has not been adequately exploited - for many reasons - some of which are the primary legislative framework is inadequate, and the system and economic position of cooperatives in economic policy in agriculture, but also the overall economic policy. Prospects of agricultural cooperatives are conditioned by the creation of adequate legal, institutional and economic environment for their business, which will significantly influence the effects of the cooperative organization of agricultural producers
