VirusPKT: A Search Tool For Assimilating Assorted Acquaintance For Viruses

Viruses utilize various means to circumvent the immune detection in the biological systems. Several mathematical models have been investigated for the description of viral dynamics in the biological system of human and various other species. One common strategy for evasion and recognition of viruses is, through acquaintance in the systems by means of search engines. In this perspective a search tool have been developed to provide a wider comprehension about the structure and other details on viruses which have been narrated in this paper. This provides an adequate knowledge in evolution and building of viruses, its functions through information extraction from various websites. Apart from this, tool aim to automate the activities associated with it in a self-maintainable, self-sustainable, proactive one which has been evaluated through analysis made and have been discussed in this paper

Is low self-esteem a risk factor for depression among adolescents? an analytical study with interventional component

Background: Self – esteem is an important factor for helping persons deal with life stressors. It is an important determinant of psychological well-being that is particularly problematic during an adolescent life stage. Low self-esteem might contribute to depression through both interpersonal and intrapersonal pathways. Many theories of depression postulate that low self esteem is a defining feature of depression. Aims: Self-esteem in adolescents has been associated with a number of risk and protective factors in previous studies. This study examined the relationship between low self esteem and depression among adolescents. Methods: This study used a case control (retrospective) design. Samples of 1120 adolescents, aged 14-17 years were selected for the study. Screening was done by using MINI-KID and the level of depression was assessed by using Beck depression inventory. Self esteem was measured by Rosenberg self esteem scale. Odds Ratio and Multivariate logistic regression were used to examine the relation between self-esteem and socio-demographic variables. Results: The odds ratio analysis revealed that adolescents who had low self esteem found to have 3.7 times (95% CI=1.9-6.9 and p- value 0.001) more risk of developing depression than the adolescents who had high self esteem. Conclusions: The findings implied that low self-esteem is a risk factor for depression among adolescents. Adolescents with low self esteem have to be identified earlier and prompt interventions will prevent future psychiatric illnesses. As an intervention towards the educational component pamphlet was distributed to the adolescents, parents and teachers. A concept programme called “Self Esteem Education & Development – SEED” programme, is planned for, from High school level

A Crystal Chemical Approach to a Cation-Ordered Structure Model for Carbonate-Intercalated Layered Double Hydroxides

    Get PDF
Layered double hydroxides comprise a stacking of positively charged metal hydroxide layers with anions and water molecules included in the interlayer galleries. Among the anions, the carbonate ion is the most ubiquitous in both mineral and laboratory synthesized phases. Taylor (1973) suggested that the carbonate ion (molecular symmetry D3h) prefers a trigonal prismatic interlayer site (local symmetry D3h), whereby the hydrogen bonding with the metal hydroxide layer is maximized. However, the cation ordered structure models of hexagonal symmetry include interlayer sites which are exclusively trigonal antiprisms (local symmetry D3d). In keeping with Taylor’s criterion, a hexagonal stacking of metal hydroxide layers does not permit the inclusion of carbonate ions in the interlayer. In this work, a crystal chemical approach is adopted based on the translationgleiche subgroups of hexagonal and cubic summits to arrive at a structure model based on the space group C2/m. In this structure, not only is the 3-fold symmetry of metal coordination retained, but also interlayer sites of ∼D3h symmetry are generated to host the intercalated carbonate ions. Using this model, the structures of a cohort of carbonate-intercalated layered double hydroxides are refined

A field experiment was conducted at ICAR-Indian Institute of Horticultural Research, Bengaluru during 2019 to evaluate certain insecticides and botanicals against jamun seed borer, Anselmella keriichi (Naryananet al.). The results revealed that the seed borer infestation was significantly low in –λ cyhalothrin (4.20%) and cypermethrin (5.77%) treatments followed by spinosad (6.36%), deltamethrin (6.40%) and imidacloprid (6.71%) (F=7.9; df=11; P<0.0001). Among the organic insecticides viz., spinosad @ 0.2 mL/L showed significant reduction in jamun seed borer infestation

Electronic-Structure Calculations of Cation-Ordered II-III Layered Double Hydroxides: Origin of the Distortion of the Metal-Coordination Symmetry

    Get PDF
Cation ordering brings down the crystal symmetry and introduces distortion into the coordination polyhedra around the divalent cations. In particular, edge sharing of the differently sized M(OH)6 polyhedra causes a non-uniform distension of the array of hydroxy ions. The question arises as to whether this distortion has its origin in the JahnTeller distortion of metal coordination or a 2D Peierls-type distortion of the array of hydroxy ions. To address this question, DFT calculations were performed on the sulfate-intercalated CuCr, ZnCr, and ZnAl layered double hydroxides (LDHs). An analysis of the density of states shows that the distortion of the Cu2+ coordination polyhedron is due to the JahnTeller effect, whereas the Zn2+ coordination polyhedron in ZnAl LDH likely suffers a Peierls-type distortion. In the ZnCr LDH, electronic-structure calculations do not predict any distortion in the metal coordination, which is in agreement with experimental results that show only a slight departure from ideal symmetry. © 2017 WILEY-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co.
