A compilation of charged-particle induced thermonuclear reaction rates

    Get PDF
Low-energy cross section data for 86 charged-particle induced reactions involving light (1 less than or equal to Z less than or equal to 14), mostly stable, nuclei are compiled. The corresponding Maxwellian-averaged thermonuclear reaction rates of relevance in astrophysical plasmas at temperatures in the range from 10(6) K to 10(10) K are calculated. These evaluations assume either that the target nuclei are in their ground state, or that the target states are thermally populated following a Maxwell-Boltzmann distribution, except in some cases involving isomeric states. Adopted values complemented with lower and upper limits of the rates are presented in tabular form. Analytical approximations to the adopted rates, as well as to the inverse/direct rate ratios, are provided. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved

An EXAFS study of phenanthroline-holmium complex

A holmium complex, [Ho(phen)2(H2[\hbox {Ho}(\hbox {phen})_{\mathrm {2}}(\hbox {H}_{\mathrm {2}}O)2(Cl)2_{\mathrm {2}} (\hbox {Cl})_{\mathrm {2}}]Cl.H2_{\mathrm {2}}O, as a luminescent/bio probe has been made and characterized using extended X-ray absorption fine structure (EXAFS) as well as IR spectroscopy, UV-Vis spectroscopy, and elemental analysis. Structural data of the formed Ho(III)–phen species are determined from the Ho LIIIL_{\mathrm {III}}-edge EXAFS spectra as well as its k2k^{\mathrm {2}}-weighted and k3k^{\mathrm {3}}-weighted spectra. The coordination numbers and distances between the holmium and the first shell atoms, i.e., O, N, and Cl, are measured. The EXAFS spectra are also analyzed by Fourier transform of the normalized absorption coefficient into the molecular distance coordinates to further verify the determined Ho(III) structural model

An EXAFS spectroscopic study of Europium (III) complexation with dafone

An extended x-ray absorption fine structure (EXAFS) for L _III Eu crystal edge at 6977 eV energy was studied on an original complex based on europium. The ligand was coordinated entirely with respect to europium atom for [Eu(dafone) _2 Cl _2 .(H _2 O) _2 ](Cl)(H _2 O), where dafone is 4,5-diazafluoren-9-one. The EXAFS spectra showed close-neighbor correlations between europium and nitrogen atoms as well as to the adjoining carbon backbones on macrocyclic cages, which resulted in the bond lengths, the Debye-Waller factor, and coordination numbers. The Eu (III) complex in vitro antibacterial efficacy on a set of Gram-negative bacteria and Gram-positive bacteria showed that the complex displays marked antibacterial behavior. The minimum complex inhibitory concentrations showed that the Eu complex displays significantly higher antibacterial impact on conventional Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli bacterial strains compared to those of silver sulfadiazine and europium nitrate. The Eu (III) bacterial inhibitions are closely linked to relevant DNA binding affinities

Low-energy cross section data for 86 charged-particle induced reactions involving light (1 ≤ Ζ ≤ 14), mostly stable, nuclei are compiled. The corresponding Maxwellian-averaged thermonuclear reaction rates of relevance in astrophysical plasmas at temperatures in the range from 106 Κ to 1010 Κ are calculated. These evaluations assume either that the target nuclei are in their ground state, or that the target states are thermally populated following a Maxwell-Boltzmann distribution, except in some cases involving isomeric states. Adopted values complemented with lower and upper limits of the rates are presented in tabular form.
